Midjourney - How to Create Consistent Characters with a Reference Image
Creating Consistent Characters in MidJourney Using Reference Images
In this video, I'll guide you through the process of creating consistent characters in MidJourney using reference images. Whether you're working with images you created in MidJourney or your own photographs, this tutorial will show you step-by-step how to maintain character consistency across multiple prompts.
We'll start by selecting a simple image-like a woman with short red hair and glasses-and experiment with different types of reference images. I’ll explain how to use MidJourney's image, style, and character references to fine-tune your results. You’ll see how to keep your characters consistent while adjusting their clothing, style, and environment. We’ll even explore the "character weight" function, which allows you to control how much of the reference image’s attributes are retained.
By the end of the video, you'll have a solid understanding of how to create characters with predictable and consistent features, using a variety of reference images. Perfect for anyone looking to push their creativity in MidJourney!
🔑 Key Points:
Using image prompts in MidJourney (2:45)
Creating a consistent character with reference images (5:15)
Adjusting character traits using "character weight" (12:30)
Exploring style references for unique environments (18:40)

Very slow. Lost interest at 2mins when nothing had really happened. I suggest a script to move things along.
Hello, as an NX Studio user have you ever had a notification "You cannot apply this operation to unsupported files. Please re-select files and try again"? I edited over 700 images of the recent Aurora to make a time lapse, I'd exported over 140 & got the above notification, after re-booting PC some more of the images exported before I got the notification again. Any help or advice you could offer would be appreciated 🙂

What I love about your videos is you explain everything in layman terms , just what someone new to this software needs - well done , sir .
once you remove background can you save image to overlay on another pic like face of lion? thanks very interessting
love when a tutorial is simple, short, and extremely useful! Thanks a lot!!
This is great but this tutorial is NOT for complete beginners to mid journey. He did not go over from start to finish on how to create a mid journey account, make a server (your personal file)load photos and use the interface tool called discord. So learn all those steps first otherwise this video will confuse you!
Love your channel and the friendly presentation. I can use most of your videos. Thank you for sharing!
Thnaks for this!
Neither of there work for me. With DNG and ARW...
Thanks 🙏
Thanks for sharing
I used Capture before (older brother of NX Studio). Now exploring NX Studio. I find it impressive compared to Capture. My 2 cents on this video. a. Best to use and show the function rather than explaining what it will do. We all learn better from what we see than what we hear. b. When explaining a feature/function, cover the basics, don't try to cover too much. It will only confuse viewers. Say 1+2=3, dont jump to 58+296=??? Cheerio.
These instructional videos have really been very helpful. I have learned so much. Thank you very much for taking the time to make these.
thank you !!
Hey that was a really great explainer! Thank you for your time!
This kind of helped. i can preview my images, but they are tiny when i open them in Photos. I know i didn't set my resolution that small.
Thank you
Thanks, but unable due to an error code 0x80073cf6 Windows 11 Home
And simplest camera obscura can be made at home you just need big box a piece of paper sticked on one side inside and hole poked so light shines on the paper now if its completely dark inside you will see whag you can see trough the hole but upside down left to right changed You can basicaly draw/trace that on the paper And call yourself a hooman picture printer 😂
I didnt see anything about creating or saving a palette
I noticed that you have export to Flickr in the file list but I don’t see that when I look in my version of Photolab 7. Have you done a video on exporting to Flickr that I can watch to learn how to export my photos? Best regards
Robinson Carol Young Matthew Thomas Matthew
Thank you so much. Just what I needed. I have hundreds of old negatives of family. This technique allowed me to determine which ones to keep. Also, some are good enough for me to use and I will take a few to the photo lab to see how their scans compare. It will save the cost of having to take them all to the photo lab for scans.
Thank you!!!
thank you 🙏 needed this.
My extension is auto editing my raw images... How to stop it?
Merci j'ai beaucoup appris
dovrebbero essere anche in lingua italiana
How do you save it as a jpg?
wershed?
Good insight
I have no idea what’s going on with mines! I can’t export! It’s not highlighted and it’s a caution mark on my picture
Great. Another one of those channels where you are left scratching your head why it has so few subscribers. Subscribed. ♥
Very helpful, thanks!
Hi, I can't use the crop tool. Only the original orientation is cropped. The freecrop function or any other function is not active. Can you help me?
does this support .nef?
How do I Crop to 1080 Pixels on the Side (The Size I need for Club Competitions )
Do you know if this will work with other programs? For example I have a folder called Corel Video Studio containing related apps which I don't use often. Can I move the folder to D drive using your method above? Thanks in advance. x
Too expensive for a plastic looking camera, and half frame too! Much prefer the sound of the Mint 35 which is using lidar for autofocus and its about the same size as the old Rollei 35's but even that is going to be extremely overpriced. 500bucks will get you a decent quality working LeicaR !
Isn't there a "global" revert to original button, like there was in ViewNX? Also - how do you switch off all the camera adjustments in NX Studio?
It's also harder to find someone to make prints from slides.
Hi Dean! Thanks so much for this. I just got the z6iii (my first mirrorless). What I really want to do is tether wirelessly. I've had 2 costly accidents in my studio with tether cables. Do you know if I can use this wirelessly by pairing my camera with the program over WiFi? Thanks!
What about EIN? I love film, but I hate when film photographers get political. If you feel the same way please don't watch my latest short all about TRUMP & BIDEN and Sprocket hole 35mm photography. Nice breakdown I'm never too old to get learnt something. SUBBED!
The import isn't even working. The program seems to access picture files, but not my photo's.
just what I needed. thanks!!
I guess they knew they'll pretty much sell the first batch at almost any price. They looked into the community online and film camera collectors and knew, they all will buy. Just look at the amount of people who "only" do street photography as a hobby with a Leica M6. I also hope for a lower price. 300$ is the price I would go for. I think for the Pentax 17 we have to compare the price more with Kodak's new Ektar35N. In costs 80€ in Europe, don't know about the US. But it has part glas lens apparently and Kodak built in bulb mode. But the camera still is in the range of "reusables", full plastic, no control. If we go from that, the gap between 80 and 550€ for a plastic camera without controls and a "real" camera on the other end, it doesn's sound that much anymore. Also: The competition Pentax is having right now is Lomography. They also sell plastic cameras, but some with better quality, like glas lenses and different manual controls. Those Lomography cameras already go for over 300€, and I wouldn't call them "real" cameras. Then there is FilmNeverDie in Australia. They will come out with a camera this year aswell. They started by aiming at offering a new Contax lol full metal body. In the end, their camera - as it looks like - will be a motorized film camera model you can buy on Alibaba from China. They just made a metal *front* plate, the back is cheap plastic still. Also, apparently no controls or focus. They still don't tell what kind of focus they will deliver: Either a second lens for other focus areas or some kind of plates in the back that you have to push to change focus manually. Anyhow, why I am writing this LOL: They want 250€ for this or 200$. I also find the Pentax way too expensive. But looking at today's market, Pentax really know what they are doing here. Because all the other players either have similiar high production costs for the plastic they deliver, or they realy rake in a lot of profits.
