"Stop Chasin’ Me Baby" by The Van Alexander Orchestra (The Lancers, Vocal), recorded 1954
The flip side of "Peggy O’Neil", this is one of my newer 78s in terms of date recorded. This will also be one of the last few recorded on my Crosley before I work out my late 1920’s Silvertone Super Deluxe Phonograph!

This Children’s Record is an oddity in my collection, being 6 1/2 inches, having an awful crack in it, and having been recorded somewhere between 1919 and 1923. Feel free to leave your guesses in the comments!

"Funny Little Pedro" by Tommy Dorsey & His Sentimentalists, recorded 1941
Don't recall hearing this one before, and I thank you for the pleasure today, January 7, 2025.
It's Tommy Dorsey with The Pied Pipers, not The Sentimentalists.
@@georgehewett6243 I believe the label is referring to the band, instead of the vocalists
@@Shays_Shellac_Shelf My apologies; Ididn't realize the orchestra was ever referred to as "His Sentimentalists." This does, however, give some "insight," for lack of a better term, as far as the naming of the later-years vocal group.
Recorded on June 4, 1952.
Recorded on March 19, 1941. Vocal Choruses by Bob Eberly and Helen O'Connell.
This was actually the ARC studio orchestra, under the supervision of Ed Kirkeby ["Ed Loyd's Rhythm Boys']. Selvin wasn't involved on this one. Recorded on February 2, 1934. Vocal refrain by Helen Ward. Also released on Banner 32971, Conqueror 8261, Melotone M-12921, Oriole 2843, and Romeo 2216.
@@fromthesidelines ah, thanks; for some reason I always thought it was Ben Selvin. Thanks!
You're welcome! Selvin was recording exclusively for the main Columbia label at the time- and abandoned recording (and Columbia) to become a key executive for Muzak in the fall of 1934.
We making it out of the war with this one boys
Recorded on October 2, 1919. Under the direction of Josef Pasternack.
The Cameo record label that issued 78's in the 1920's was a different label. That one was from New York and went out of business in the mid 1930's. This Cameo label was from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was part of the Cameo/Parkway family of labels. It was formed in 1957 and closed in January 1968, and the master tapes were purchased by Allen Klein at Abkco Records. Today, Abkco is owned by Allen's children and grandchildren and issues a lot of CD's and 100%virgin vinyls of the old Cameo/Parkway artists, more than when Allen Klein was alive.
Fall down, go 'boom-boom'!
This is a February 1952 "Collector's Issue" re-release {42-0151; also issued as a "45" [27-0151]}.
Recorded on February 3, 1939. Initially released on Vocalion 5319.
Bro caught a stray 😭😭
Tom Berwick's orchestra, under an alias (even though Sid Peltyn is playing trumpet). Recorded on June 1, 1934. Vocal refrain by Dick Roberrtson.
AKA "Barnyard Blues". Recorded on February 26, 1917. Nick LaRocca, cornet Eddie Edwards, trombone Larry Shields, clarinet Henry Ragas, piano Tony Sbarbaro, drums
Recorded on December 27, 1906. Originally released on Victor 5279. Orchestra conducted by Rosario Bourdon.
@@fromthesidelines thanks for the date on this one, I couldn’t find an exact date for a while
You're VERY welcome! Hope your Christmas was a peaceful one.
Recorded on October 15, 1925.
Recorded on March 1, 1932. Vocal Chorus by Harold "Scrappy" Lambert. Also released on Banner 32494, Melotone M-12331 and Oriole 2440 {alternate takes, with vocal chorus by Smith Ballew}.
