As a professional underwater photographer, great vision underwater is paramount. Changing mask isnt a easy decision, even just trying something new as a bad fit, or color changes would impact my work. When XDEEP gave me their new mask to try, I was really curious to see how it would stack up against the Hollis M1 I have been using for many years. Get your Xdeep Frameless Mask at: www.diveventur...

Dive Deeper with Sony: Sea Frog Salted Line Review!
Thanks for the nice review, can I know please the inflators hose length? And if you have any recommendations
This is the standard one. 16’ i believe
Really great video, especially paired together with the initial, and the expedition videos, absolutely fantastic. Your videos convinced me to get this watch (and the xdeep wing). I've had it for a couple of weeks now, and the torch is my favorite feature. I've only used the watch a couple of times for drysuit diving, i just recently got my OWD, but I am excited to have this computer accompany me through the diving journey!
Thank you so much for the comment! I am happy I helped you in your decision making!
Hi. Great video. I sign with both hands what you said. Fantastic companion for my type of diving. You also talked about all major points. I would add one, I turn off auto updates. I validated deco times etc with other computers so now I don't want that any update will potentially change it.
Thank you very much for the kind words! Its a good idea! I personally read the changelog of the update before installing it, i really want to know what they are changing before I chose to update or not. But this might be because of my background in IT.
I love my MK3i and use it for recreation scuba. I thought the same thing about the flashlight, it was gimmicky. But I use it all the time! Great video!
Right?! I mean, I couldn't have been more wrong on a feature. Thanks a lot!
Thank you for the video
Thanks for watching!
What do you mean by Needing Housing
Its a box that goes around the camera to whistand pressure
What do you think about Zcam EC-2 with a proper housing?
These are more geared toward cinema, whar is your use case?
Where can I get the black Backplate like yours? I was looking everywhere but seems like no one is selling it😢
You need to order it as part of the custom bundle. Its not sold separately
Thank you... very useful
Happy it helped!
Hello, I like your review. Could you tell me what is real battery life and how did you managed put camera and headlight for caving all togather on one helmet?
Hi! Thank you so much! I get around 100 min of shooting with one battery. And i used my cave diving helmet (big blue with the gopro port).
Of all tutorials the RGB Mixer tip was my solution. Thanks 🎉
Happy it helped!
Hi, I'm in dilema to buy the smaller version or better go with 51mm.. I know flashlight is missing on smaller one, but that is not a problem.. I'm concerned about readability on smaller and operation with thick gloves.. What is your opinion? I'm leaning towards 43mm because I'll use it for other sports and everyday use, but don't want to miss some important feature what is offered by full size
There is also a lot of difference in battery. Question is how big is your wrist? I personally love the 51.
@MaximeCheminade My wrist is 19-20 cm.. I'll could pass with 51 mm.. I don't like oversize watches like Diesel, but understand that with diving watches are bit on functionality side😊
A DM at my local dive shop pointed out that the screens are almost the exact same size despite the overall diameter difference
@@NicoleMcFall Its a few mm differences indeed, but the small one is way too small for me as an example. And the battery life and richer features are great on the bigger version.
u the best maxime! thanks
Thank you so much! 😊
Does it give the dive profile during the dive?
It doesnt.
After seen your review, I went and bought one 2 weeks ago. and yesterday after about 25 dives, I've found 2 tear spots on the skirt. I have no idea what could caused them. I have Tusa HD, Halcyon H-view, SP frameless, Gull, none of them had this problem. Just wanna ask how is yours doing after all these time. Do you have any quality issue with this mask? thanks
So far nothing. Mine has not seen anything like this. Maybe ask their customer service? I cant see this as normal
Where to buy?
Where are you located?
At 4:44 in the video you mention the light, and I love the light, but how did you get it to turn on under water? I know I've had to assign a hot key sequence to mine to make the light come on (Start+Up), but I'm wondering if you found a simpler way that doesn't use up a hot key sequence? BTW, great review... And I LOVE both my Mk2i and Mk3i computers...
Hi! Double tap on the top left button :)
@@MaximeCheminade Very odd, I tried that multiple times in the pool a couple of weeks ago and it never came on. I'll try it again... Thank you for the reply..
Great review. I just bought the Mk3i and T2; as good as it gets! Agree with the totally crap battery life of the Suunto D5. I had that unit for 2 years and it was total dogsh1t. Glad to finally have this Garmin Mk3 beast!
Thanks for your feedback!
They should have a tech mode and recreation mode. If in rec mode it won't show you optioo which you don't have training for
I had the exact same remark when I tested the mk3i. I reached out to Garmin about this choice and this was their answer : Single Gas is not just recreational dive mode: Although we expect recreational dives will mostly be executed with Single Gas mode, certain technical dives can leverage Single Gas mode as well. Technical divers still can and do make decompression and/or cave dives (the definition of technical) with only one gas. This is common when the deco plan is simple enough to not be worth managing an extra gas mix. Wreck penetration and cave diving, even without deco, is considered technical diving, and often air is the only gas used if deco isn’t expected. And it actually kind of make sense to not separate both as rec / tec, but based on the gas you carry.
Great video Maxime, good to see this! Keep up the great work man
Thanks man!
Hi Max. Again great video. I used model 05 also a good one. I Just ordered next one to have in car.
Thanks a lot! Happy you liked the video!
Maybe you can also detail your main light?
I have multiple main lights in test including an unreleased product. But for these reviews, i am going to explore longer cave / cavern to make sure i have got all the good / bad about the product.
Very cool !!!! Keep up with all the great work Maxime :)
Thanks Laura!!
Great Video!
Glad you enjoyed it
After I was introduced to XDeep's frameless mask a couple of years ago, my long-serving Scubapro frameless and Hollis M1 masks instantly became backup masks. The comfort, vision and perfect seal of XDeep's frameless mask are, in my humble opinion, supreme. Best mask I've ever had the pleasure to dive with. I have a wide face and this mask just delivers. Not a single drop of water has managed to get inside. Given it's sold at a midrange price I feel I get a lot of bang for my bucks. And no, I'm certainly not paid and/or instructed to promote XDeep's products. I'm just a regular recreational diver who has paid for every single item of my equipment. I just think that XDeep deserves praise as a great and very innovative dive equipment company...
I absolutely love mine, and that mask has become my (and most of my colleagues) go to.
Yes, I totally agree. I have had my XDeep Zen for well over 2 years, and I can't see myself using another wing because the Zen has everything I want: supreme comfort, durability, and great design. Since I primarily travel and dive in tropical waters, I use Ghost's ultralight backplate, and this combo is the ultimate solution for me. I also use some of XDeep's other top-notch products: their frameless mask (perfect seal and vision, very comfy), their bolt snaps (best on the market), and their DSMB.
Nice review, but the music is too loud, making it hard to stay focused on what you were saying Maxime!
Il be more careful next time :)
Hey Max, thanks for the great video! Is there a specific reason why everyone is on open circuit? Wouldn’t a CCR be more suitable for dives like this?
Hey! Thanks a lot! CCR would make a lot of sense, but not all the divers are CCR mixed gas diver, and the philosophy behind this is to first go there on an open circuit (much easier in case of failure / harder to break) and then do dives on CCR.
Great video Maxime! Amazing for a young diver like myself who’s looking to get into tec diving to have role models like yourself to look up to!
Thank you so much for your kind comment. I hope we get to dive one day together!
Keep up the good work ! thx Maxime
Thanks a lot! :) Many more videos coming this month 🤩.
Very helpful! Merci beaucoup!!
Happy you enjoyed it!!! :)
Hi Maxime! Does your xdeep mask still fog? Mine still fogs very much after 10 dives, despite prepping it (burn/toothpaste)
It doesnt anymore, but i always use some soap before going for a dive.
We bought these and thoroughly regret the purchase: The Dive app will not open unless you have an LTE or wi-fi connection. The Connect app is completely cloud-based (all data disappears when not connected to at least LTE) so if you are on a live aboard boat you have nothing. The underwater messaging is gimmicky and within another menu so not very practical under water. Garmin support is abysmal. 45 minutes, 20 minutes and over two hour wait times this week alone. And then, even though you selected the option for the Descent MkIII, you get general customer service who doesn't know the watch well. They told me that there are very few people at Garmin who actually know the watch. The bezel is soft and scratches easily. The base of the transmitters are wider than other transmitters and won't fit on some octos without a pigtail. We really regret buying these.
Incredibly helpful! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Ordered one, don't like it since my eyelashes touched the glass. What do I try next?
I'd say the Hollis M1 is still great. But they had a change in production, and the glass is different than the old “Saint Gobain crystal” and the new one isn't as good as the old. Beuchat also has a great mask (maxlux)
@@MaximeCheminade I've been suggested Apeks VX1, have you tried that?
@ekjellgren i haven't unfortunately.
@@ekjellgrenhi buddy :) I do own a vx1 and I’m actually looking for a replacement mask. I’ve done around 110 dives with it and it’s always mix feelings, either super good sealing on my face or super bad. I’ve had couple of fogging issues but burning it and prepping it with soap did the tricky perfectly, for my face/shape it just doesn’t seal and leaks water almost every other dive which is super annoying. I’ve tried it with long beard, trimmed beard but still doesn’t give me consistency. I will buy this xdeep and see if it fits me better and use the Apeks as a back up. On my opinion is not worth the price tag 🏷️ hope this help.
Istn't it too big to wear for everyday use?
I thought too! Especially that I wear a f91w most of the days. But it was just great
Very bad watch.A lot of reboot.I give it back and I buy suunto ocean.🎉
Interesting to know. Haven't had any issues (nor heard of anything similar either)
Thanks for the vid. Can you post the link about the archeology site? Thanks!

@@MaximeCheminade Fabulous find. Thanks!
Hi maxime, thanks for this great review. Would you feel confident taking this dive computer for technical dives, or does it seem limited to a "recreational" interface? I'd be interested to understand the degree of customization, notably on the communication of total ascent times (apparently in seconds?), the usefulness of the computer without the probe? etc... Thanks for your great videos!
Hi! Yes absolutely. I haven't used the probes and you are right, the is in seconds. I honestly didn't miss anything from Shearwater except the GF99. But I wouldn't be surprised if this feature comes to MK3i via update. You can customize more of the screens than a teric. I love the big numbers mode. Check up on my new video where I used it as a training device for expedition diving :)
Merci Maxime !! Keep on the great work

Very awesome work thank you!! What setup do you use?
I use a GH5 (lumix) 8-18 and a nauticam housing :)
Been looking for this review
Glad you enjoyed it!
After your last Video my Shearwater Perdix got an companion, I bought my MK3i , actually I wear it for some trainings, and next week I go diving in Sri Lanka, Indian Ocean - the Inreach Mini 2 is the next interesting thing in combination with the MK3i I’am interested - thank you for your Video !
Thank you so much for your kind comment! The InReach video will be out mid to end June :)
Looks cold water turn on your dolphin mode! Great video.
My dolphin mode? 😅😅🐬
You must heard about Jacques Mayol and his book Homo Delphinus. Cold water is slowing heart rate in most of mammals.
I tested HMR plus for pulse during dive, but there is a bug in export to dive app. I currently have G1 again skin for pulse and Mk3i on top of my drysuit for dive data 😊 Say hi to Mikko from Teppo
If there is a bug can you send me more details? I could report it to Garmin if you havnt done it yet :) I will ☺️
@@MaximeCheminade they know about it 😀
I've just upgraded to the Mk3i, my Mk2's did 200 dives in the past year very well. Garmin warranty support is excellent, I've never had such a supportive company to deal with. Great video btw...
Thanks a lot! Maybe I should make more videos around Garmin products. I use their tools for many reasons and I absolutely love them.
@@MaximeCheminade to be honest I've never had a company support their product as much as Garmin and stand by any issue. Seriously they are great, so I'd make more.
Great video! Can't wait for my new MK3i!
Its a great tool! I am sure you wont be disappointed.
