the being happy and loving the pale king kinda makes sense looking how they never lived in hallownest so they don't really know much about him other then him being there dad, hornet being mad because she lost much to make the pale king plan work just to found out it was never gonna work no matter what, makes you realize her story might be the saddest in all of hollow knight. and the vessel being sad knowing that they will never get the "father with son time" they wanted helps you know how missed up the pale king plan was, like really why didn't he just take pure vessel, white lady, the five great knights, an entire army, unn and just fight the raidence
