Bet it’s haunted
Sadly not haunted :)
I was at KGS from 1968 to '73 by which time it was part of Wellsway Comprehensive. Humph.
Promo'SM 👏
:)
This video led me to learn a lot about a school that existed way before I was born (and no longer exists), and was in a country I have spent less than a week of my life in. I did not expect I would be doing that today. Happy reunion!
Glad you enjoyed the slide show of our Quantock Boarding school reunion :)
Film isn’t 200 years old! Clearly a reconstruction with plastic banner advertising the horse boat society.
And a web site :)
Nice my friend👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks :)
I've remembered this tv show for years yet couldn't remember what it was called.
It's MC Kye from Porridge
186 AHU was my Dad's car - Albert Smith was Deputy Head.
This brings back great memories. Wellsway School sponsored walk along the disused railway line between Keynsham and Pensford
Glad you liked my film :)
Just watching her on Dr Who as we speak - what an unbelievably beautiful woman..!!!
She will be very pleased to see your kind post :)
what actual years were these? I was there 1964, 1965
Hi Adrian, it will be sometime during the time you were there. The film was taken by my brother Ashley Booth. I failed the 11plus so was sent away in shame.
Certainly not a 200 video. Old, but not 200,
Can we have the whole Shoestring doco please?
Sorry all I've got :(
@@lauriebooth, no worries. I was hoping you might have the rest of it tucked away somewhere. Thank you for taking the time to answer and for the original upload. You rule.
@@araneus1 Cheers :)
First off, that is not film, that is a slideshow with special effects added to it. Secondly, these are not old photos, this is some sort of historic reproduction. Thirdly, there is a vinyl tourist sign on the side of the boat. And finally, there was no film 200 years ago. Other than that, this is completely legitimate. :-)
Yep and the mobile 'phone as well :)
That’s wonderful maths teacher Mr. Grace with the megaphone. He taught at Keynsham Grammar School before the formation of the new school in 1971 and ran charity fundraising events including a sponsored walk or walks and a sponsored fast. I recall taking part in this walk or a similar one around 1970. The man in glasses walking towards the camera at ~ 3:50 looks vaguely familiar - I think he also was a teacher at the school, but I don’t recall his name.
Love the music. Maori Love Song I think. My mum used to sing an English version as a lullaby to us.
Glad you like the music.
Nice film, didn't know they had motorised wheelchairs back then. Check time 2.11
And mobile 'phones :)
Or modern spectacles
Well done folks, proper sailing a in sensible cruiser in our home waters, no South coast nonsense in millionaire's mega yacht with aramid sails and electric winches, good luck Lena and crew! Cheers John, ex yacht Vaquita, Portishead cruising club. PS thanks for the link Huw. 🌞 ⛵ ⛵

I went here mid/late 70”, remember jaws... I remember at about 8-10 sent on a train with my chest of clothes and treats, every three months or so? I started in jnr dorm. We weren’t fed much, I was lean everytime I came home, two week box and a cup of milk was breakfast. Those brutal cross country run ( mind you I’m a more powerful weapon now at 53 then I ever was, I’m in fantastic shape. I remember watching the 1978 World Cup there, I was so desperate for food and sugar drinks I paid a pound for a can of coke. That was a fortune then. Playing in the woods, those giant wood ant nests, remember those? Beautiful building and grounds. I remember in 78 we would get the cane most nights if not every night, for nothing really, was that the deputy heads front door near jnr dorm We had line after line of guy bruises from the whipping daily. That corridor.... he would take a run up, yes a run up, you would laugh to try to deflect the pain, as his run got louder and closer you would grit your teeth in preparation for his strikes. I cried every night for a months, if it’s any comfort I’m a tough resilient beautiful ruggidly handsome man these days. I was a beautiful little boy back then Did boarding school and my parents sending me away cause abandonment issues later in life..yes, did/ has it affected my personal relationships...yes Have I lost people I love because of this, fuck yeah... but I keep growing. Love and the ocean are what’s important to me now. When mums food parcel arrived you have to eat/ swap it all in a day or two or the bigger kids would come looking to rob you. I was a tough little 8 y/o mofo. I had to fight for my food, my life in jnr dorm a few times and against jaws. I never backed down. I always stood//stand my ground If I got anything out of it it was to survive, ain’t no one else coming to protect you but you, your on your own. Good luck out there Rikky Love Byron bay Australia
facebook.com/groups/139709816053496 Wow great to hear from you. I know all about the lack of food !! :) I weighed 7.5 stones when I left. OMG the cross country runs I treated as escape practise :) We managed to kill 2 boys which was very sad :( that was the final straw for me. We do have a chap from Australia come to reunions. Matron is still there and if you have the courage see Mr.Phil (a lot of boys are too scared). Cheers for now Laurie :)
Much less noisier than having a Diesel engine! 👍
Very true :)
I was about 6 when this was first shown, it was pretty sinister for a kids tv program. It has stuck with me all these years.
I think some of the aerial shots are of Keynsham.
Yep, Keynsham and Bristol :)
Was that in Pensford?
No
Can’t get that song out my head..good news..it’s on again soon. 7 Dec..Paramount Pictures Channel. 09 30
:)
I last saw this film on tv about 40 years ago, when I was about 15. Loved it then. It was on today, I bloody missed it.
Pity you missed it :(
The film is available on DVD.
Very lovely and know the song well but I had forgotten I t till I heard it again
Glad you like it :)

An excellent photographic record of your weekend challenge Laurie. Many thanks.

Wow! I sailed on this ship with my parents back when it was brand new in 1982 and was a cruiseferry. NYC to Freeport Bahamas. I was 13 at the time....I'm turning 50 now! Amazingly, it looks exactly like I remembered her all those years ago!
:)
We were on her in her last year, ok a bit dated but ok
At 1:06 her hand is on a plastic kitchen step.
Yet more evidence of time travel :)
:)
2:56. Pamela and her husband Michael sitting on her left. Hi guys. Trust you are all well.
Sadly Michael passed away last year. :( Pamela is keeping well though :)
@@lauriebooth I am so sorry to hear that Michael passed away. I had no idea. Michael's mother was my aunt on nmy father's side. How can I contact you privately?
@@quinktap Hi, my email is lauriembooth @ gmail.com :)
I'm so excited about this ship..
Thank you for your enjoyable video, I'd love to travel this canal. I've just added this year's Angel canal festival in 4k along with an hour's meander along the Regents canal, taking in the atmosphere. It's good to share. Perhaps we could subscribe to each other and share more canal video's to come?
So glad its gone. Horrendous S^^t hole of a so called cruise ship.
You mean a Relliant Robin. And I also took one look at the comment below and decided not to bother watching.
Yep Reliant Robin :)
