Teal Ox Adventures
United States
Приєднався 19 січ 2021
We are Ron and Cathy and have been married for more than 40 years. We share a love of family, the outdoors, food and travel. In 2020, we added a Jeep Wrangler to our bag of tools, we added a Jeep Gladiator to the mix in 2021 and upgraded the Gladiator to a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X in Dec 2023. These vehicles allow us to venture further off the beaten path than otherwise possible.
Ron has more than forty years of off-road experience, including his time leading the special operations division of a large fire department. Cathy has been off-roading for over four years and she has gained a lot of experience in that time. She is a very capable driver (she drives the majority of the time off-road). We are blessed to have the ability to explore God's wonderful world together and share our adventures with you.

Return to Hurricane Creek
We have been running behind on videos due to Ron's recent health challenges and now two hurricane encounters, but we appreciate you watching this video as we get back on track. This video features our most recent trip on Hurricane Creak Road and Mike and Cheryle's first opportunity to travel the entire length of the road.
As we noted in the video, this part of North Carolina and Tennessee was significantly impacted by Hurricane Helene and our part of Florida was impacted by Hurricane Milton as we were finishing the video. Please consider volunteering and/or donating if you are able to some of the organizations lending a hand to those impacted by these two storms. Below is links to the three charities we donated to and are all highly rated organizations.

We attended the 4th Annual Blueberry Jam hosted by Ol’ Florida Off-Road. For this event, we had someone new join us for her first off-road adventure. Kelly Rogers (No relation) joined us for some fun times with our group of Crazy Jeepers. The ride features some scenic area, sugar sand, several off-camber obstacles and a couple of small, but steep hill climbs. Sadly, we learned while producing t...
Diabolical Slipstream for 2024 Jeep Wrangler JLU

While attending Jeep Beach 2024 we purchased a Diabolical Slipstream security enclosure for our 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon (Apollo²). We have a different brand of this type of enclosure in Teal Ox that never met our needs. So far we are very pleased with the construction and design of our Slipstream. It exceeded all of our expectations on our recent road trip to Tennessee. Feel free to comment ...

Jeepin' with Judd 2024 Highlights from Safari, Gator and Pines

We traveled to Jeepin' with Sheriff Judd 2024 to explore the trails, visit the vendors and support the charity while enjoying the experience with old and new friends. To say the weather this year was spectacular is an understatement. The trails we explored (Safari, Gator and Pines) were all considered Moderate. For moderate trails, Jeeps participating must have 4x4, a lift and 33" tires. There ...

After hurricane damage is this trail accessible??
Not sure. Pretty sure it is not accessible from I-40, but we’re not sure about the Max Patch side. We just hope the people in the area are safe.
Perez Gary Johnson Cynthia Lee Steven
Pretty cool to see how much has changed and all that water 💪
Nice video. It's such a fun trail and I do hope the locals are fairing well after Helene.
Thank you! We hope so too!
Really disappointed they graded it. Wanting to go back now post hurricane but due to the closure of I-40 it’s a 2 hour ride and I have t found the time lol. Also, last time I was at HC, I took the path to the right. Some pretty good ruts up that way and eventually comes out to a paved road.
We were disappointed as well. Hoping to get back up there after the area has recovered from Helene. I would be shocked if the road wasn’t significantly impacted by the floodwaters.
@@TealOxAdv be interesting to see what it did up there. Been trying to convince by buddy with a GX 470 on 32s to take his running boards off and head up that way with me but he’s afraid of pin stripes. 😂 And I don’t like wheeling that far from home without a buddy.
Normally pinstripes aren’t a problem, no telling what it’s like now. I agree about not going alone, especially not knowing the conditions.
@@TealOxAdv yeah I’m not worried about capability - even with it being a Sport, I’ve built it up into a monster (3” lift, 35s, 4.88 gears, steel bumper and winch) but at the end of the day, freak accidents happen and I don’t want to be 70 miles from home with no cell service and a broken rig and no backup.
@@backwoodstherapy I agree with you. Teal Ox is a Sport built up very similar to yours, but as you said, freak things happen.
Absolutely love it. It is good to see it back to its former self. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, hoping it and the people who live there came through Helene okay. 🙏🏼
Love it! Especially about Mike being the amateur!!!😮😂 Looking forward to more Jeep Adventures with Teal Ox!
Red Rooster 1 told me to say that. 😜
Great video. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it and you’re welcome.
That last turn on 26 is best done, hitting it straight on, and right up the center. And... dropping pressure down to 10lbs. That pressure makes 22 much easier as well.
Agree on all points. We didn’t air down that low because one of the Jeeps was not lifted and we were concerned about losing what limited ground clearance he had. Always a balancing act. Thanks for the great comment.
could you ride a mini bike there?
These are considered a legal road and all vehicles must be licensed and registered. If the mini bike meets that criteria, I am not aware of any other restrictions.
When one does a lift job on a jeep, I personally think 35 inch tires are the way to go. Because every inch matters. 35’s will work fine on a stock set up and your transmission. If you get bigger tires you will have to re-gear your Jeep.
35” Tires are definitely a sweet spot for most off-road trails we’ve done. The right line and a good spotter make a huge difference as well.
@@TealOxAdv I agree. And it’s not too bad on gas mileage. lol
True, lol
@@TealOxAdv Are you attending the jeep extravaganza in Pigeon Forge next week?
@Huckleberry54 Not this year. We’ve attended the last three years and decided to not go this year, although we are now regretting that decision. It is an awesome event and has many great side activities as well.
The video you took is fantastic! We have some car related items. Do you accept sponsored products?
We DMd you.
Where is this at??
Citrus Wildlife Management Area in Inverness, FL
@@TealOxAdv I thought that would be a mud pit. I also have a jeep and ride there. I like off Cardinal and lecanto hwy...
@jimfloyd8125 No, it’s Trail 14. Citrus is one of our favorite places to ride in Florida, but we prefer places like Windrock out of state.
@@TealOxAdv sorry, I meant I live off Cardinal and lecanto hwy... Enjoy your day
Love the video. I keep in Florida. Id be nervous as hell on some of those trails 😅
We are from Florida too. You just need to work up to it until you are comfortable. Going with someone you trust who has experience helps too.
Great to see another video from you guys. I too love that little place for the same reasons. I shot a short piece on my channel jeepNdirt (no camping overlanding video) there with my wife on our fall trip last year and you're right. Small place but fun little trails. Dan is AWESOME and Earnie is just cool. lol. Another point you made which for newbies I'd pre-warn as well: That incline at your 5:17 minute mark is definitely one that makes any passenger cringe, and coming down on the back side actually showed up to 31 degrees on my gauge. But those views are INCREDIBLE. Not trying to plug too much here, but my drone shots from there really highlight how beautiful that little mountain area is. And if you can catch the colors changing around 2nd or 3rd week in October you'll be rewarded with views of a lifetime. Good stuff. God Bless.
Great points. I completely forgot to put the drone up until our descent, but have done it in previous videos. It is amazing how nice those views are. I hiked up the big hill to get the videos. It’s pretty intense on foot too, but I ride down the backside in the Jeep instead of my butt like last time. 😉 Thanks for the awesome comment.
God Bless y’all as well.
Enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing.
Thank you and thanks for always commenting. ❤️
Sucks this is a damn one-way road. Would be an amazing entrance for us Chattanoogans.
Yes, it would be nice to enter that way. Especially coming in halfway around the loop.
I rode it 1st weekend of june on my z125 mostly one handed. 😂😂😂 its a fun road
We were there in May as well. It’s a nice peaceful ride.
❤ Love this! Thank you so much! ❤
Glad you like it. It was our pleasure.
Not cool.....
Nope
Please 🙏🏼 if we drive over high bridges I'm chicken especially the Sunshine Skyway. I definitely remember when it was hit and all those died...😢 Maybe we can arrange someone in another Jeep to help me with that 😮😅
Yeah, not a fan either.
Very cool, looks like a very fun day. Thanks for sharing.
It was a great day. Just wish more people could’ve experienced it before it was closed.
Omgosh that was one of the best days of my life! Thank you immensely for making me feel so welcomed and included in this, my first full fledged Jeep off road experience. I cannot think of 8 other people than those in our group to MAKE IT HAPPEN!
You’re very welcome. We are so glad you were able to join us and had a great time.
How much time should be allowed for doing what you show in the video? A full day? Thanks!
A lot depends on your skill level and vehicle build. It typically takes us around 4 hours not counting stops for lunch/snacks. We have Jeeps with a moderate lift and 35” tires.
@@TealOxAdv Thanks. I'm in a stock JL Rubicon. 33's. I have moderate experience (Moab,Colorado, Arkansas, etc.). I'll be there this Sunday, riding solo, but do have a winch. I want to have fun, but don't want to break anything. Seems like these are good trails for that purpose (potentially a little more than I'd like). Thanks.
You should be fine with those factors considered. If you’d like, you probably can find someone to ride with at the store where you get your permit. I definitely urge caution on the lower end of 27 if they haven’t addressed the ruts. They can damage fenders and/or mirrors.

@@TealOxAdv that looked like the worst part to me. I hate sections like that.
$1,400.00 😮
Yes, it is on the high side for this type of equipment, but we haven’t found anything else with an equivalent design. Keep in mind it is a high quality item from a veteran owned company.
The price tho..😅 it’s a hit on the wallet. But I get it. Keep your gear that costs just as much
Agreed, but we look at it like insurance. The stuff we keep in there makes it worth it. You also have the safety factor. A lot of the stuff is heavy enough to hurt if it gets loose. It is a quality product that is well built and from a veteran owned company as well.
@@TealOxAdv agreed, first choice out of all the others I’ve looked into 👍
@rockyp544 Same here.
Looks like a difficult install hope you had help
It was a complicated installation, but I was fortunate that my oldest son gave me a big hand with the installation.
I love the safety of this equipment. Looks heavy duty!
It is heavy duty, but it is made from aluminum so the weight isn’t bad.
Yes the data gauges are very helpful
I want to do a ride soon where you see the sun going down through the trees!
It is a nice experience.

🎉 I am looking forward to Jeep Beach 2025 with you all! 🎉 This looks amazing!
Make sure to book your lodging early. Some of it will already be full.
I'm going in 2025!
❤ Look at these beautiful Jeeps! ❤
I most definitely want to help with this next year and all other volunteer events!
How beautiful though
I'm pretty happy not to have seen bears yesterday 😅
😜
Love this group and those kiddos!
🥰
Wowzers AMAZING!
This was my first Jeep Team Trail Ride on 5/5/24! I cannot express how thankful I am for yesterday, such an amazing day with new friends out on the trail! I met Mr. Ron Rogers in the parking lot at Planet Fitness in Plant City. After yesterday, I'm now friends with two other couples, his wife, and grandkids, Aiden and Avery. Teal Ox Adventures and team are the best guides! This is the short. He has much more video coming of our adventures, ESPECIALLY THE ROLLER COASTER 🎢 trail! 😳😳😳 The first time was so much fun Cathy and I had to do it a second time to show a new guide and his group behind us how they could do it too!❤
So glad you were able to join us and had a great time.
Would I need to bring an extra gas can for this trip?
You should be fine as long as you fuel up reasonably close to the trailhead.
What a great time Can't wait to go again
We are looking forward to it as well.
I am a subscriber and I really enjoy your videos, but if I could offer a bit of constructive criticism, the music is really loud and jarring and makes it hard to regulate volume between speaking and music. The scenery and your narration are great, just not sure the music adds anything.
Thank you very much for subscribing and the feedback. We can definitely make some adjustments to future videos.
Thanks again. I listened to that video and definitely agree. Please do watch a more recent video and share your thoughts on the sound quality. We’ve learned more about the audio mixing capabilities of our software since that video was made. Hopefully the newer videos are better, but we welcome your feedback if not.
Thanks for sharing. Looks like a lot of fun and a beautiful day.
Thanks for the comment. It was a lot of fun. Definitely recommend going.
Hey yall!! We were the family in the White Jeep!! Thank you for videoing the event and making it extra fun, we loved to see our Jeep doing the exciting obstacles. Our second year of this event has caused me to get my own Jeep I am excited to join next year with my parents. Hope to see you there!!
@@haileesullivan05 So glad you found the video and enjoyed the shots of y’all. So excited that you got your own Jeep. You did an awesome job on the trail. Feel free to message us on Facebook or instagram if you and your family would like to join us on some other trail rides. Cathy and I love helping others learn what they and their Jeeps are capable of.
How many days can you spend here doing trails similar to this ? I would like to take a long weekend from Michigan and do those.
Windrock is 73,000 acres in size with over 300 miles of trails. You could easily spend several days there exploring different trails, especially if you have a rig built for the difficult trails. Even sticking to the moderate trails will keep you busy for days. I would recommend taking your time to enjoy the scenery as well as the trails. In addition, Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary is nearby and offers a look back at its history. Camping at Windrock or staying in one of their cabins is your best bet for maximizing time on the trails. windrockpark.com/
