A fugue in five voices! I had a difficult time getting all five voices to fit cleanly on a grand staff in musescore, so I used five separate staves. Let me know if you have any feedback, and have a nice day!

fantastic work
Thank you very much!!
Very cool, you deserve more subs ;)
That's very kind, thank you <3
You've improved a lot!
Thank you very much!!
Pretty good fugue! Pleasant to listen to, and quite well-structured. Fugues are not easy to write; you did a pretty good job. Only thing is that the notation in mm.11-12 seem to involve an unreasonable large handspan, assuming this was written for a single pianist, though upon closer inspection you *can* actually play it by playing the upper notes in the bass with the RH instead of the LH as notated. There's a shortage of good fugues in the world; keep writing more! ;-)
Thank you very much, I appreciate it!
Uf, those runs in the pedal line are going to be brutal to play...
That's fantastic...
Thank you very much! <3
This is a nice foundation for a composition. Some passages and transitions are really ingenious. If you want some honest feedback, here it is: (1) at times, it seems to have been impressed by pieces from different ages: Baroque, classical, Romantic, and even modern soundtracks. It tries to be everything. Picking a style helps a work sound more coherent. E.g. the tremolo octaves sound Beethoven-esque, but the right hand does not provide enough harmony for them to sound complete or rich, resulting in emptiness. (2) There are occasional dissonances that cannot be justified; they simply do not fit. E.g. M.9, between the 7th and 9th 16ths, you have Eb, C, D, C#, Bb clustered together, which yields a muddy sound. Or M.58, 13/16: Bb in RH, B in LH - a dissonance. M.60 should be corrected, too. Please continue working. Never stop at the first revision when the ink is fresh: give it a couple of re-listens, try different sound banks. Play it on a real piano. Ponder the ideas for a week or so, then revise. Please share the next iteration!
wow, that's very detailed feedback, I appreciate it a lot! I'll definitely keep working on the piece with your advice in mind. I have a really bad habit of rushing to get pieces done and not going back later to fix mistakes; I agree very much that more time to revise and to let the ideas sit in my head would benefit the music greatly. Thanks for listening and offering such detailed feedback.
This is extraordinary!
Thank you very much!
Great piece! Although I found some parts to be a bit repetitive. How about more contrasting sections? Like having a slower section?
Thank you! I tried to have a slower section in this piece, but I do admit it's a rather short moment compared to the whole. I appreciate the feedback, thanks for listening.
Está muy bueno pero no es extrictamente una fuga
Nice !
Thanks!
Great job
Thank you <3

i feel like this would be very fun to play, especially the beginning

Very nice! Beautiful ❤
Thank you very much!!
Hi! Did you tell your teacher about your compositions? Also your videos convinced me to write my first fugue. I already began one, but had to restart because I left it unfinished for too long and I forgot what I was doing.
Hello! Not yet, I haven't seen him so I haven't had a chance to. I have a lesson tomorrow though so I will then. That's wonderful to hear that I convinced you to write a fugue! They're so fun to write once you get into the flow of it. I get what you mean about forgetting what you were doing on an unfinished composition, I have an absurd number of expositions of fugues and sonatas that I'll likely never bother going back to.
beautiful and very Beethoven in style. Well done I wanted the LH to do more and give more drive and rhythm, but that is just my opinion. Another great composition.
Thank you very much, I appreciate your feedback! I'll try my best to keep that advice in mind in the future
I see old me in you, even the better version of old me. I checked few of your pieces and I realised you have the power but not the ability of using it well. I say this because when you find a very impressive idea, you miss it sometimes.(its like doing a brilliant move in chess but you did it by accident and don't know why it is brilliant :) ) You killing the hype: and it is very normal. My advice to you is try to catch and keep the hype u have already created -even if accident. This oftenly happens when you are rushed to finish it or you just didn't listen your music long enough. For example, I do listen my study everyday to improve it and find more ideas. So even in my random orchestral pieces, I always listen it minimum 50 hours until start to finish. Also, listen everything as much as you can. :)) Keep composing you are going to be a star!
Thank you very much; that's very thoughtful advice. You're feedback is really interesting to me, that's not something I had really thought about before and I'll definitely try my best to implement it. I appreciate you taking the time to comment, it means a lot
Beautiful!❗️👏 This music is relaxing.
Thank you very much!
You wrote these three beautiful pieces in a single night? Astonishing. Mozart would be proud. :)
I needed something to do, what can I say? Thank you very much
@@Evvymakesmusic Anytime. Blessings.
Very nice
Thank you!
Nice piece. My favorite part was M. 17, when you trick us into thinking it’s going into G major, but you use a diminished 7th chord to instead pull the piece back into minor.
Thank you. I appreciate the comment <3
Nice fugue! It isn’t easy to write a fugue, and you did it very well.
Thank you very much!
Rachmaninoff and saint-Saëns? Plus it's strange that you can write pretty well in counterpoint but struggle with harmony. Usually you start learning harmony and then counterpoint and fugue (even if counterpoint historically came first). Do you study composition with a teacher?
I do not study composition with a teacher, which is probably the reason for that. Counterpoint was actually the very first thing that I ended up learning, so if I’m trying to write something without those kinds of horizontal lines then I struggle a bit. I have to work on that 😅. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it!
@@Evvymakesmusic you really should begin studying composition with a teacher: you have pretty good musical ideas when writing in counterpoint and learning with the help of a guide could make you improve a lot! You have talent and if composition is your passion it would be worth it to pursue this path.
@@aronbucca6777 Thank you very much for the advice, I'll definitely look into it. I have a violin teacher who I think also teaches theory and composition, so maybe I'll reach out to him
@@Evvymakesmusic have you ever shown your pieces to any music teacher? In my case, I started composing because my theory and piano teacher asked me several times if I wanted to study composition as he saw my interests in various aspects of pieces I had seen. Maybe, as you said, your violin teacher can help you.
@@aronbucca6777 I've only recently started showing other people my pieces and uploading them to youtube, so I haven't shown any to a music teacher yet, but I'd very much like to. It's odd because I've been taking private lessons and have participated in my school's orchestra for years but have never so much as mentioned I write music until within the last week or two. I kept it hidden, I was shy about it
This reminds me that I still have to finish my first fugue 😭 (my teacher gave me the subject). I composed other things though, so I'm not that guilty
That is it, I'm gonna write one right now.
Wow this one is really good.
Very good. This makes me want to write a fugue again lol, but making beautiful melodies is soooo hard . I also have one in B minor in my channel if you wanna check.
Thank you! It can definitely be tough to come up with good melodies sometimes. I took a listen to the B minor fugue on your channel, and I like it a lot. The chromatic countersubject is very cool. I also really like the fughetta for wind quintet you just uploaded, very nice counterpoint.
@@Evvymakesmusic thx. I'm trying to upload a solo violin piece and ask you if you think it is playable, since you play violin. But musescore is not letting me upload it (maybe cuz I just uploaded that other one idk) :/
@@Evvymakesmusic I managed to finally upload the piece for solo violin, can you take a look pls?
@@DanielSilva-gc4xz I would love to give feedback on your piece's playability. If you're using the musescore website to upload the score video directly to youtube, then I'm fairly certain that it only lets you do one a day. What I do is click the button right below that which says 'create video' or something to that effect which sends the score video to your email which you can then download and put on youtube as many times in a day as you'd like
@@Evvymakesmusic oh so that was why, took me a while to figure out the solution (lol I spammed the button and now I have several emails about it). It should be in my channel already, if you could see and give feedback it would be a lot of help.
Casually just writes an amazing sonata
hehe thank you very much <3
Genius work
I appreciate your kind words, thank you
Did you write this? It is very good if you did.
I did! Thank you very much, I appreciate it <3
@@Evvymakesmusic Please take it as a compliment that I couldn't tell if this was you or someone like a Bach or a Handel. My thinking was "I think this youtuber wrote this, but it is very authentic in style to those extraordinary composers. :) Very impressive composition and musicality. Really interesting. Great work!
That means a lot, you made my day! I really appreciate your comment, thanks again
@@Evvymakesmusic Anytime. haha I deleted my original comment, which was "Amazing composition," But then I thought to myself, "Wait. What if this is Bach? I am gonna sound really ignorant," so I deleted it and wrote the comment you read to ask whether you composed it or not. The piece really does show extraordinary musicality and style. Wonderful. Blessings. :)
This is quite nice!
Thanks a lot!
@@Evvymakesmusic I've listened to a few of your pieces here. When did you start your schooling?
Thanks for listening to my pieces! There's not really a definitive time that I started learning to write music, I don't have a teacher or anything like that. I developed an interest in it in elementary school and started to learn music theory from various free online resources such as youtube starting about sixth grade, so when I was about 11 or 12. I apologize for the long response, I wanted to answer the question accurately.
@@Evvymakesmusic I'm entirely self-taught too. But you're clearly way more talented with an ear for the polyphonic stuff. The best I've been able to do is a couple SATB arrangements to that end. I love that this was all your own initiative. I hope you keep it up for a long time!
@@deceptive-cadence I don't plan on stopping anytime soon, don't worry! I appreciate your kind words, they mean a lot <3
You seem to compose lots of fugues! Are you very good at writing them? I mean, I have written fugues in three or four voices, but never have I done five!
Fugues are one of my favorite things to write. I love counterpoint, it's so fun. My goal is to write a fugue in every key to get better at it, as I feel that I a lot of room for improvement. I appreciate your comment!
This is fantastic! I'm not an orchestration expert, but your sense of musical colour and suspense is stunning, even in this short piece. Keep up the good work!

Oh yeah, this is good! It looks like you understand the sonata form pretty well! Also, have you tried hiding those unnecessary rests? I think it would look better if they were invisible.
Thank you very much! I didn't think to make the unnecessary rests invisible, I wasn't really thinking about them at the time if I'm being completely honest 😅. Now that you mention them though, I'll start doing that. Thank you for your input, I appreciate it
@@Evvymakesmusic Yep, no problem!

I love it ❤
Thank you very much <3
Not bad! This is actually pretty good compared to other fugues that I've listened to.
Thank you! I'm trying my best to get better at fugue writing , I'm still not quite there yet
Stunning music! Intense and dramatic, yet with a good solid classical basis. Keep up the good work!
