Rocky Creek Valley Farm
United States
Приєднався 18 бер 2011
In late 2009 we purchased an abandoned neglected 40 acres of farm ground, timber and hay fields. Then we began, one shovelfull of dirt after the other, to carve out a dream. RCV Farm is committed to sustainable agriculture, environmental preservation, and consumer education. Rocky Creek is an agricultural and educational center that promotes environmentally friendly systems with sustainable farming. We employ various methods of gardening and animal husbandry that enrich the overall experience of farm-life. Rocky Creek will remind you of the beauty of the farm, past and present with tours, lectures and classes that teach how our ancestors not only survived, but thrived.

What is a honey bear?
Maybe the honey bear is on the no fly list. 😂 Good one!
I am like the ladies- I don't like microwaves, and i don't like processed foods. That is why I started carrying a portable kitchen. Keep the ideas coming!
I hope you are doing well! I hope you post another video sometime soon!
I hope you are doing well! Please let us know how you have been doing.
Wonderful tips, thanks!!
Thanks Chef!
Another place to buy stuff is a thrift store . I go to yard sales as well
Thank you for sharing your good tips! I have only brought a few things with me during travel (paper towels, foil, knife, zipp bags & dish soap). You have inspired me to make a more efficient kitchen bag/kit.
excellent info! For family vacations, I recommend making a meal plan of favorite foods ahead of time, and pack accordingly. Easy quick favorites, so you know exactly what you will need to bring, buy, etc.
Great idea light weight cheap everything boom quick useful kitchen you can even get cheap pans that if left behind no big deal
Great ideas! Just staying at a hotel around Christmas, healthier food is not so easy to find around here, this makes me happy :-)
For some reason Corelle often winds up in second hand shops or put at the curb after a house cleanout. Idk if people think it's cheap looking or some sort of plastic they're unfamiliar with or what. I myself like it a lot....it's durable and great for everyday use. Takes some force to break it too.
It is virtually indestructible, that is why I like it for travel, because I hate eating off paper plates or cheap plastic. Especially, I want my coffee in a glass cup.
@@RockyCreekValleyFarm .... certain beverages in synthetic materials take on a slight but still noticeable plastic taste. So, yes I'm with you about coffee in a proper cup, metal cutlery, and real dishes. 👍👍
awesome info!
What’s a honey bear?
In the Midwest one of our brands of honey comes in a little plastic bear shaped jar. Looks a lot like Winnie-the-Pooh cartoon character.
@@chefg1066 Ah. I had just never heard it called that.
Ever since our society has reopened post covid I noticed many offices have removed any shared utensils in the kitchen so I'll have to put together a mini kit like this.
Brilliant deserves more views.
Thank you for the support.
Damn! Wish I'd know this about 15 years ago. Nice!
I have to travel a lot so this helps 👍
As a flight attendant ✈ I appreciate your video 😇
Very good video thanks!!!👍
Thank you...needed this information.
NEVER EVER ADD THE YEAST TO THE WET INGREDIENTS YEAST SHOUD BE ADDED ON TOP OF THE DRY INGREDIENTS. SHOULD NOT MIX WITH THE WET WATER.
I've found great handbook on woodprix website. Good solutions for everyone I think.
Do you pick all the petals off the blossom or use the whole head?
Shawna, I use the whole blossom, and actually, lately I have been using THE WHOLE PLANT!!!
I started to make soap because of my daughters skin. Thank you for sharing
Come see us this spring, May 5, 2018 for our FARM FAIR. :)
you just saved me a lot of time and money thanks a lot I like the music could I have the name of song thanks again
I will try this method with my Gravely walk behind. Would chains on the tractor tires be beneficial for crimping, as the tiller is narrower than the wheels?
great idea!!!thank you
very nice video... I just did a video on dandelions.. I want to make some salve.. I just subbed your channel.. Come on over to my channel check it out you might see something you like if you do hit that bell.. Thanks for sharing..
I have some dandelions that my dad just brought me. Do I let them dry or put them in the oil now?
Great video, I want to share it at www.gallagherelectricfencing.com
Man! You just solved a lot of problems for me right there!
I like your recipe I'm going to try it. It looks good and what are the other grains did you use besides the oars
Great, now I have a new use for that old tiller I stopped using when I went to no till.
How long will this last using only natural ingredient ?
Angela, all of the ingredients mentioned in my video are natural. This salve will easily last a couple of years if you store it properly...i.e. out of sunlight, even without the vitamin E and the grapefruit seed extract. Good luck with your salve!!
can I use dandelions that I dehydrated
Hi Kelley. Strictly speaking, yes, dried herbs can be used for oil infusions. However, traditional herbalists prefer fresh herbs. And, fresh herbs are my first choice, as well. There's nothing quite like harvesting and stuffing those jars!! However, here in the Midwest it's Winter; so if dried is what you have and you need salve, use dried! I believe the resulting salve will not be quite as potent, but it will still be a very good salve. And, better than store-bought stuff! In fact, I am infusing oil right now from dried herbs. I'm trying a new method: I put the jars in a crockpot crock, added some water (in the crock, not the jars) and put the whole thing in my gas stove oven. The pilot light is keeping it toasty. DO NOT LIGHT THE OVEN WITH THE JARS OF OIL IN THERE!!! The crock pot itself got WAY TO HOT, even on low. I stir them (almost) daily. And, when I use the oven I set them behind my wood stove to keep warm till they can go back into the oven. They have a couple more weeks to go before they are ready to be transformed into beautiful healing herbal salve. Good luck, Kelley. Let me know how everything turns out. And, happy new year. :)
Thankyou
In this video, you added 2 cups bread flour, and another cup of oats/etc. I don't have the size of my container so I don't want to add too much flour to land up with it all over the place. What I want to know is can I reduce the amount of flour from 3 cups to 2 cups instead? do I also have to reduce the other ingredients?
will this support a wood canopy instead of fabric?
Go to woodprix page if you want to learn how to build it yourself
thanks
I've been thinking of doing the same thing for a while. Thanks for the idea!
Only video I have found to take care of the same problem so I thank you. I want my canopy to be more permanent so this is perfect.
What do you do if the plastic on the moveable joints break?
I have not had one break so at this point do not have a repair idea.
Love the tip about melting the wax o a sheet pan to make thin wafers!
Thanks, Davette. It works great, and I love that little "snap" when I break it in two! :)
WOW!! I had been trying to figure out what I was going to do... Problem solved! Thank you for posting this!!!
Excellent Information. You may have just saved a lot of people a lot of money that would have been spent on a crimper.
Palsy? Great vid though!!
I know!!! Hurts the eyes, right?! Sorry about that. Hope you are making salve. :)
When I tried to infuse mine after about a week it grew mold. What did I do wrong?
Wendy Snyder I got this from another website.... 1. Pick one glass container full of dandelion blossoms.2. Pour olive oil over blossoms until they are fully covered.3. Using a wooden handle of a @10 utensil, or a chopstick, carefully poke the mixture to remove air bubbles.4. Cover glass container with a breathable lid, such as a coffee filter or woven cloth, held on with a rubber band.5. Place in sun to steep for a minimum of 2 weeks.6. Strain and keep in a cool, dark place.herbgardens.about.com/od/herbrecipes/ht/dandelionoil.htm
Wendy Snyder This website, the lady suggests breaking apart the blossoms and letting them air dry a little bit first. thenerdyfarmwife.com/dandelion-salve-recipe/
Chele Rutan thank you so much. I'm going to try again with dandelion and plantain weed this year since they are blooming again. Hopefully, they won't mold like last year.
I realize you have probably gone on to greener pastures by now, and I see you have some good advise already. But, thought I would chirp in..... Some reasons for mold are: not filling the jar to the tippy top with oil, allowing the herb to peek above the oil, not wilting the herbs a few hours prior to infusing, too much heat causing condensation or "bad" herbs. And, sometimes IT JUST GROWS MOLD regardless. I hope you didn't throw in the towel; just keep on keeping on making infused oils! Practice begets experience; experience begets herbalists. Good Luck, Wendy. :)
Elizabeth Wenig well I moved to texas and I can't find plantain weed anywhere here. There are tons of dandelion. I havent tried again since we moved here. I never wilted my pants first. great tip!
