I have a question.. is there a jo malone scent that would remind you of a sweet warm desert 🏜 with cactus flowers, and if so, what Jo malone scent would that be?
Great review - you’re gorgeous ❤
Vetyverio EDT is my go to diptyque. the patchoulli note in the EDP kind of kept me away i don't hate the note but i don't like it either. luckily the EDT doesn't have it
My special occasion fragrance would be Rosendo Mateu N. 5. It smells beautiful and garners a lot of attention.
@@raque.gf88 I will check it out when I can 👍🏻
Love your picks and the way you describe fragrances. I love Ombre Leather and 34 Blvd from Diptyque.
@@raque.gf88 wow, thank you! It’s nice to hear and gives me a nudge to keep going 🙂
I kinda blind bought xerjoff more than words its a really high quality rose oud fragences with some fruit
@@angelorozco333 nice! I’ll check it out.
Hello from Ukraine! Found your videos to be very calming, thank you
@@hello-m7f thank you for the kind words. Sending you well wishes and support at this time 🙏🏻
I wore POAL to a xmas party last week i totally agree i think its pretty much only suitable for nights out as its a huge scent. Will need to check out the une rose from malle
@@markgallacher4217 it’s a beast! Une rose also great performance but very different fragrance (also renamed Rose Tonerre now)
Great selection and this video reminded me to check your videos out more often (I am subscribed but there is so much on youtube and I haven't watched a lot of fragrance content). Love the calm presentation! PoaL is also one of my favourites for special occasions (birthdays, new years eve, christmas). Completely understand why you included Une Rose as well. Have you ever tried Thirty-Three by Ex Idolo? Another great rose scent that is also great for special occasions. It is bright from the rose and tea but also has patchouly and great performance as well as "projection".
@@famine92 thanks for the kind words. I haven’t tried Ex Idolo but will be sure to check it out - thanks for the tip 👍🏻
Hi, I am new to your channel and pretty new to elegant fragrances. I enjoy the way you review different fragrances and enjoy the way you present. Unfortunately I struggle to relate to some of your choices due to my limited knowledge of this fascinating topic. To help me try some of the fragrances would it be possible to list them in the description? I have just found Diptyque Paris. Apologies for being a pain
Thank you for your kind words. Here you have the list: 10 Une Rose - Frederic Malle 09 Toy Boy - Moschino 08 Eau Lente - Diptyque 07 Le male Le Parfum - Jean-Paul Gaultier 06 Myrrh & Tonka - Jo Malone 05 Chanel No 5 04 Ombré Leather - Tom Ford 03 Portrait of a Lady - Frederic Malle 02 Bejoin Boheme - Diptyque 01 34 Eau de Parfum - Diptyque
@@scentmagnifiqueThank you very much. Keep up the excellent content. Have a wonderful Christmas
@@mattspencer1888 Merry Christmas to you too
Very nice video idea! I really like you number one choice, it’s such a complex beast. And wishing you all the best for Christmas and the new year
Glad you could appreciate the choice - it really is quite special. Merry Christmas to you too!
I just gave my 84 Mom a bottle of Chanel no.5 for an early Christmas present. She burst into tears. " Your Dad used to buy that for me !" Im like " I know, Mom, you told me." She would never spend that kind of money on herself.
@@ginachiaverini awww that’s wonderful - thank you for sharing.
Just bought for my wife
@@storyteller0430 👌🏻
Essentially your actual first impression of Chanel no.5 was "too feminine and too mature." That's enough for me. Thank you.
I’d be curious to understand more about your comment
Does it smell like Creed's Original Vetiver? I'm curious about this scent.
@@christopherurrutia8037 not to my nose - it’s a very unusual fragrance and not a typical vetiver….
New sub, enjoying your content! I’ve never worn No 5, but I think Chanel makes quite unisex fragrances. I used to wear Coco edp when it was launched and loved it on me…you should try 😊
@@waynesabados4048 thanks for the kind words and for the tip - I’ll definitely check it out!
Great review! I would definitely try it. Was it the 'edt' version or the 'Edp' version?
@@ВладимирШвец-п2к thanks! It was the EDP (performance is just ok). I’d be curious to try the EDT as sometimes the comparison is surprising….
To me it's too sweet on men. Just personal opinion, of course, but I don't find it attractive on a guy.
@@Laleolie I understand - fragrance is so subjective. I was comparing in my mind to Le Male Le Parfum and Moschino Toy Boy and by comparison I find this much less sweet - probably because I detect the Vetiver so much in the base.
@@scentmagnifique and I was just thinking, that if I saw a man, I'd find attractive and he was wearing No. 5, I'd probably still like it on him. ; )
its not supposed to smell attractive. its an elegant fragrance or u can also try its more masculine sibling no22.
@@singaporechickenrice2484, elegance is attractive to me. How is a purely attractive perfume supposed to smell in your opinion? I haven't come across any that would exclusively check that particular box. The other part of your comment is probably just a misunderstanding, but thanks for the recommendation. :)
@@Laleolie what do u mean other part of my comment ?
An absolute pleasure to see you get your nose on this for the first time! And I like that you tested both on skin and in the air, that’s a nice touch I hope you’ll keep up.
@@userformerlyknownasT thanks for the support! It was a great experience so I will definitely think of more for the future.
Cracking work on this buddy, really hope you’ll do more as you can
@@joegreen5564 thank you! It was a pleasure. Feel free to leave a ‘first impressions’ recommendation if/when you feel like it 👍🏻
Congrats on you very first, first impressions! And you did it beautifully. You are so good at this, I’m so happy you’re uploading more. I hope this is the first of many 🥰
@@JaneTheJubilant wow, thank you so much for the kind words and support. It’s a joy to do.
It's the most iconic perfume for a reason 🖤🤍
@@zambowman indeed!
😢I am totally shocked about the news about 154! It is my fave! I am a Latina female and love a bit stronger scent. I love love and will go on the site to stock up a bit. Sad day!
@@Bridgebuild I agree, very sad. I think this is a very cool fragrance on a woman too btw👌🏻
Oh you get top marks for including my favourite - Vetiver and Golden Vanilla, it’s utterly sublime 🥰
@@JaneTheJubilant I can’t get enough of it!
Myrrh and Tonka is an interesting choice - the lavender was a bit much for me. And incidentally congrats on 300 subs!
@@WhatsThatSmell thanks for the support and yes I agree it can be a divisive scent
I'm not surprised that Vetiver and Golden Vanilla is on your list. Hah! My favourite is Wood sage and sea salt.
@@mojaveghost8 would have been no. 5 if I owned it 👍🏻
Why does my magnolia smell like alcohol?
@@margaretdeni5643 never tried it but will give it a go the next time I get a chance 👍🏻
So curious to try this & bring in the q&a!
Thanks for the intro to this line, that’s worth a sub
I’d have been more excited if they’d called it catwoman! Hope it’s ok to ask but if you get the chance I’d love to see you think about doing a q&a
@@WhatsThatSmell 😄 yes it’s interesting how Michelle Pfeiffer has decided to keep her identity separate from the brand. I’d love to do a Q&A - I’ll have a look into it 👍🏻
Where in Scotland are you from?
Aberdeen :)
I’d always thought of it as a spring scent, but perhaps it’s just that versatile 😌
@@LuminousLucille I agree I think it would be best suited to Spring, just haven’t been able to try it in Spring yet!
I thought this might be a bit much for me but after such a good review I definitely want to give a try
Yeah - a feminine fragrance for men sums this one up to a t!
Literally never heard of this one! Looking forward to your review 😌
tempo is the best for me 🙏 the blond hair suits you well 🙏👍
@@dennisw.8894 thanks! Yes Tempo is amazing.
Interesting list nice mix of choices. Always hard to see past guerlains.... What do you think of habit rouge?
Great fragrance. It gets compared a lot to TF Noir and I have a preference for the latter…
Please make a video of your GO TO perfumes
@@mojaveghost8 great idea. Can you say a little more of what go to fragrances are for you?
@@scentmagnifique probably like everyday office scents or dumb reach kind of perfumes. I hope that makes sense haha
@@mojaveghost8got it. Watch this space in that case 👍🏻

@@TheAnomalousAtheist Thanks for the support
I haven’t thought about Kenzo Pour Homme in years! I seem to remember having some kind of irrational fear of the bottle, think it must be the wacky design 😂
@@WhatsThatSmell 😄
I know you have quite expensive taste, so a list like this from you was certainly something interesting. And I’m literally tickled pink to see a new video from you so soon 💕
Welcome back and thank you for the support.
Tom Ford is an interesting choice for a list like this. I think I’d have them somewhere between niche and designer.
@@userformerlyknownasT I purposely stuck to those within a designer fragrance price point and avoided their premium line which I agree is more comparable with niche brands
I also love Eau Capitale! I’m still sampling other patchoulis before committing to Tempo. Eau Duelle edt was our (me and my partner) first and since then we are fans. L’Ombre dans l’eau and Orpheon should be on your list!
@@GodfreyCua it took me a while to love patchouli but now I find it to the the most interesting note. Enjoy the sampling! I’m off to try Black Orchid by Tom Ford as I vaguely recall it being patchouli heavy….
Before watching I was wondering how many Diptyque scents would make the cut! 😂
@@userformerlyknownasT you’ve been paying attention then 😀
Try Ta'if Ormonde Jayne
@@mjeed-he7jg thanks for the tip!
Now that’s why I like your videos, they’re so complete - I love rose but I don’t think I could add anything to this. Thank you & come back soon 🙃
Thanks for the support! More to come very soon….
I was waiting for Rose 33, and there would have been trouble if it didn’t make the cut! Subbed and hope you’ll upload more soon.
Thanks 😅 Yes it’s a must have for rose fans! I recommend trying Lunamaris from Diptyque as there are a lot of similarities…..
Hey 😌 what an absolute treat of a video, it’s lovely to see you back. If you get the chance I’d love to see you do some sampling/first impressions!
@@JaneTheJubilant thanks! Great idea re: first impressions. Any suggestions?

Always good to see a new video! Thought Portrait of a Lady would be on here somewhere, but had no idea it was Madonna’s favourite scent 😂
@@WhatsThatSmell thanks! Yes, Bob The Drag Queen who toured with her recently did a whole piece on how she walks around in a mist of Portrait of a Lady, makes total sense to me 😀
I smelled Tempo and I’m loving. Also, what’s a fresh fragrance from Diptyque you would recommend?
