Welcome to the VIGOR Mindset UA-cam channel.
This channel is first and foremost, a personal video training journal, where I review my performance and analyze details of what I did and how I did it. Capturing video of myself training or in competition is both a humbling and enlightening experience. Over the years it has consistently proven to be one of my most effective self-diagnostic tools.
Additionally, my intent with this channel is that it be a useful resource of informational Playlists for anyone interested in learning more about self-defense, shooting performance, dry fire training, responsible gun ownership & much more. Peruse the Playlists and you’ll see what I mean
The name VIGOR Mindset contains an acronym for Virgin Islands Gun Owner Resources and it’s my intention to offer firearms coaching and support to the people of the Virgin Islands, where I am from, although I’ve been happily residing in the great state of Arizona for over 20 years.
Train hard, stay vigilant

My Last USPSA Match of 2024. All Stages…

At the beginning of 2024, I set a personal goal for myself. My intention was to finish within the top 5 at one of my monthly #USPSA matches. I didn’t achieve my goal all year, but I did grow a lot, learn an immense amount, and I had a great time shooting with some awesome people in the beautiful pine forest of #Flagstaff #Arizona. 12/14/24 was my last match of the year, and I entered it in a gr...

Comparing the F.A.S.T. Drill: Reality vs Virtual Reality.
Переглядів 16214 днів тому
I find it interesting, fun and at times amusing, to see how my stage and drill runs compare between reality and VR.. As much as I love the Ace platform, when it comes to an exercise like the F.A.S.T. Drill, I notice a greater discrepancy between real world and virtual world shooting. The slide lock reload is a hard thing to accurately replicate in VR, and my slower times in reality reflect that...

Reality Versus Virtual Reality. Steel Challenge 11/24

This was an interesting study review for me. Comparing my times on a couple of the stages from my first ever Steel Challenge match (11/24) with those same stages in the Ace virtual world. Within the video, at the end of each stage I notated the time it took to shoot, and observed the difference in times between live fire and dry fire (Ace). #SteelChallenge #USPSA Sign up for Ace here, and use m...

Get better brother. Thanks for the video!
@@donaldpotter3200 Thank you sir. Whatever crud is going around has been rough this year it seems. Lots of folks I know have been walloped. I’m grateful to be on the upswing I tell you! 🙏🏽
question, I see you are near the roadside here, is this private property or just out in the middle of nowhere that this is fine? I am trying to find some places out in the middle of no where that isnt private that I can do some drills outside, and then clean up after. I live in TN and it is hard to find such places, any tips?
@@TheArmedNational I reflect often about how fortunate I am here in the great state of Arizona, to have so many accessible public lands to practice on. This particular spot is considered a public, open range, and it’s the place I use most often. But, when there are too many other folks there I have backup locations not far away. And like you, I always clean up after myself. And yes, that’s a public 2-lane country road in the background.
@@vigormindset Man that must be nice, I am glad you have that opportunity to so freely train. Every state should be this way, there would be way less crime that's for sure lol.
@ 💯 agreed! I don’t take it for granted. I know so many folks who don’t have the luxury, I’m definitely grateful.
Man the audio of a lot of the videos you post is not ok... I mean as you finish a string of fire and start commenting the first few words/sentences are muted...
@@petarhaytov5533 Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. I’m trying to figure out how to best address that. The concussion from shooting causes the iPhone to dampen the mic recording, so more recently I have been trying to remember to speak extra loud after a string. It’s why you’ll hear me repeat my times so much…
why is he shooting point blank
@@StormChaser41 3 yards. Don’t know that I’d call that point blank, but I reckon there’s some room for interpretation with that term. He hasn’t shot 9mm in years. Building confidence at 3 yards and working on sight confirmation upon presentation.
it’s called training. reality isn’t a video game. the bullet doesn’t hit target just because your site is on it. there’s levels to shooting
Take all the battery operated crap off that pistol it will draw quicker Or is that required to be a civilian " Operator" ?
@@pinslayer4579 where are you getting your data from friend? How much training have you done with a red dot optic? Do you have any reliable and vetted sources on red dot usage and efficacy? The data is out there, you do you… Happy Thanksgiving!🍁
Good show!
Thanks Zia! 💙
What holster?
@@Youknowwh0iam depends. The default pistol that currently ships with the Ace is called the Arctus and it’s modeled after the Sig P320. There are a lot of third-party, aftermarket pistols that folks are 3D printing and selling.
Good video, commenting for reach
Cheers! And thank you!
How much is the game and pistol?

Holy fuck dude, I would venture to say you are unsafe with a rifle. Insanenly bad weapon handling. The way you are fumbling with your hands, dont know how to hold a rifle, and then grip it like a newbie, not to mention trying to drop the bolt catch and having a bent finger inside the triggerguard. You should not even worry about speed at this point, just get the weapon handling fundamentals down first. I hope we never meet on a range.
Nice! 🔥
@@josephthecreator thank you!

That paracord trick is very smart. I would have never thought of that and will definitely be using that from now on, good video
Excellent! And thank you! 🙂
I was thinking of trying this out. Do you think it's an effective training tool compared with actual shooting
@@ironspider45 I really like it and I do find it to be a very effective training tool. I think of it more as something that is dry fire adjacent. Like dry fire, it’s a great way to work on a variety of skills that we can then go to the range and confirm in live fire. I have a video called Dry Fire Is Life in which I discuss the Ace VR system and other dry fire tools in more detail.
@@vigormindset thank you for detailed answer thats exactly what im looking for. And I'll definitely check out that video you mentioned. Thanks and keep up the great videos👍

@@Scashod Thank you my friend! 🙏🏽✨
Don't pull back your firearm immediately after shooting and assessing the target - always be ready to get back for a follow-through like in a real gunfight. You will develop training scars by automatically pulling back.
@@SpyderWebbX Fair point! Thank you!
@@vigormindset You're welcome! Just passing a valuable tip I received from a range officer years ago. Never back down until you're absolutely sure the "other gunfighter is down".
This @ 7yrds?
@@UncleFjester Yes sir.
I think you are doing a great job in your training. I share the same passion for training. I enjoy the many layers of skills to master in pistol training. I'm probably not telling you anything you don't already know, but another layer that I really enjoy is target (only) focused shooting, or point shooting. I use a S.I.R.T. pistol to train this extra layer. The concept is that in some real self defense situations, your eyes might only focus on the threat. So, a little training in this manner might be valuable. I find you can get really combat effective at 10 yards and spot on at 7 yards and in. It's like practicing for shooting hoops in basketball.
Great suggestion! I definitely see value in that. I have only really worked with pint shooting at close quarters range, like, thumb pectoral index from about 1 to 3 feet. Maybe next time I hit the range I work on that from 7-10 yards. Appreciate the input! Keep up the good work!
@@vigormindset And, it's a ton of fun as well! You will see...
Good to see you, my friend. Maybe it's time to move to an H&K instead of shooting Blocks....oops, meant Glocks....

Nicely done and excellent courage in trying it and also making it public.
The music is drowning out your voice.
Hey my friend! You are correct! Thank you for bringing that to my attention. Hope all is well!
Keep going.
Thank you my friend. Still trying to get the muzzle-proud DtFS better ingrained! I play my recorded videos back and that’s when I notice little things that I don’t necessarily notice on the range pushing speed. But in dry fire I am definitely seeing advantages to muzzle proud presentation. Not that I don’t want to be proficient with both. But I have been focused on snapping the pistol out of the holster and then getting muzzle proud and in my line of sight sooner, more consistently. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate the lessons learned at @Defenders-USA
That’s really good keep it up
Thank you! 🙏🏽
Sorry, but that's not low ready.
The instructions I printed out just said from the ready. So there’s that. That being said, I have since found other versions that specify low ready and I will happily do it again. I passed the drill pretty easily (147 out of 150), and it will be good to do it again and spice it up a little.

I love the dedication. I bet you can get that gun up even sooner than you already are :) it should be up before you start to plant your feet. Also, I recommend playing around with not breaking your grip on the shorter distances. That is at least 0.75s each time. Keep on training!
