Modern Daily Knitting
United States
Приєднався 16 лис 2016
Hello! We’re Ann Shayne and Kay Gardiner. Thanks for being here. You’re the reason we created Modern Daily Knitting. We hope you’ll come often and be a part of this community of people who can’t quite seem to knit enough.
How It All Began
We started MDK as a blog, on a lark really, in 2003. At that time, Ann and Kay were internet pen pals who had not met in person.
Before long, we found ourselves amid a warm, friendly, and smart community of knitters. It was all virtual-we didn’t meet in person until 2004, after we had signed a contract for our first knitting book.
In 2015, we hunkered down to turn MDK into the site we have always craved: a delicious daily read for every knitter. Our new site launched in September 2016, and it’s been a joyful journey since then.

How to Divide One Ball of Yarn into Two Equal Balls
Thanks so much! Love the simple solution and bonus that it didnt cost anything to create!
Australia 😊
Your demonstration is explicit and easy to follow. Thank you. How many stitches are you casting on for a cowl?
I have sheared a sheep, it IS, So, HARD!!! But I’m glad I got the experience.
Love the interview 😍
Loved this interview! Thank you all, a very happy hour with my knitting and listening to Peggy’s thoughts. Book and audiobook coming up!
This interview, in all its parts, was the absolute best! I have just barely started listening to Peggy’s book and, as a non-audiobook person, it really is so good. And I think it is because she is the narrator. And I went looking on youtube to find something on her talking about the book and came upon her TED talks on teens and sexuality. I was so engaged that I forgot to return to her audiobook 😂 Thanks for having her on Kay and Ann. And thanks to Peggy for doing this. Back to my needles and book 😊
So great to see the sweater up close! Hope that's Peggy's Rhinebeck sweater!
Chicago, Illinois
I love the sweater, well done.
Bonjour Je tricote vos chaussettes !
Where have you been all my life!!!! You have simplified the process. Thank you
Rowan Norwegian wool is amazing!!!!!! Can’t believe how much I love it!
Hi, I follow your blog and am also faithful to watching Arne and Carlos. I still have to purchase this pattern but if this is in one of their books I prefer to buy the book. I will look for it. Thank you.
So fun that the colours and designs are based on traditional Norwegian knitting. Looking forward to using Rowan Norwegian wool and learning more about colourwork! Thank you for this wonderful collaboration ❤️🩷💜❤️
I'm inspired so now must locate "The Glow" and some fine yarn. Thank you!
I am new to colorwork and the "powerful persuasion" of Arne and Carlos plus the absolutely gorgeous items are what led me to join in!
This was a FASCINATING episode. THANK YOU!
I cannot imagine a world where I would wear a sweater AND a dickie - indoors!!
It’s -20F here in Vermont. Layers, layers, layers!

So clever! Thanks for sharing. Your scale method could end up being more accurate than a home kitchen scale anyway.
