Walther PPK/S 9mm kurz - West Germany Cold War Era Quick look
Переглядів 2,6 тис.Рік тому
I can't believe I got a Walther PPK/S from someone who's family member died, but it was from the Cold War before Germany united. It's one of my bucket list pistols that I had to share with everyone @troytacticaldefense2597 . The PDP vs. F-Series is coming soon. Quick note. 9mm Kurz is considered as .380ACP in the U.S., a very common round, but not as popular as the .32ACP for PPKs.

9mm Pistol Rounds - Is there a difference?
What Zr Tactical spring are you using? I’m thinking about picking up the captured 17lb spring. It looks closer to factory weight but should reduce recoil just a bit as well. Any suggestions?
What night sights are you running on this setup ???
I have the ZR Tactical spring rod in my 4" PDP F-Series. Do you recommend trading it out for the DPM spring system?
that's a difficult call considering I had the ZR1 as well. FOR ME, I felt that the need to change up was worth it, but only AFTER I experienced the great results of the DPM on the F-Series 3.5". I was willing to take that gamble. I say give it a try, as I felt that it was worth doing.
People crack me up my fall EDC etc 😂😂😂 my night stand weapon for home defense etc. Yeah I have the 509kB36-4513 model with the X05 holster set up 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I guess I should be glad that this was popular enough to troll. In my experience, it's best to use different tools for a different job. I'd never wear the same weapon with the winter or summer clothing. Our climate in the north midwest is very extreme. Why be here if your goal is to just be a dick? Do this IRL where you can get the response you want ...Kick rocks.
I have an F-series 4 inch, and the pistol is definitely snappier than any of my other 9mms. I installed the DPM springs and guide rod, and really didn't notice much difference. Something else I have noticed is I get a sting on the lower half of the pad on my trigger finger. Again I have never noticed this on any of my other 9's. I really like the pistol, and want to try the overwatch trigger next.
I'm thinking about installing the overwatch trigger, as well. But, honestly, the OEM trigger on my 4" model isn't bad. Also, my G45 is less snappier than this gun
@@pleasantcrew Like I stated, its the increased pressure in the chambering that's causing the "snappiness". The Glock models don't use that step-down chambering the barrel. I guess efficiency of the round leaving the chamber was more of a priority than felt recoil
That might also be due your grip and finger placement. But I understand the need to change the trigger shoe and system.
Try a different grip position, also try the larger grip back that came with your gun also try a different trigger position. will also help with gun rise, and snap. I use a firm, but not to firm grip and have no issues. Also you can buy a 15 lb recoil spring
I don’t find the recoil to be a significant big deal ,don’t even notice it.
@@Miketheneck I can understand. But different hands and experiences may see felt recoil differently. It's rather subjective. Like. I'm not a coffee drinker but many of my friends are ya know?
F series pro is here
@@blackloreross cool. In 3.5" too?
@ yup and if you hurry you can catch one at gun zone deals for low 7’s my cousin ordered one last week for 671.. I AM JELLY😂😂😂
Oh yah shot the last 3000 rounds and didn't clean it. No glitches, no misfeeds, no jams, no nothing.
I've got about 8000 rounds through mine. I've tried all the ammo I could get my hands on, and the PDP runs like a Beast!! I shoot 35 yd. bullseyes with a HaloSun red dot I hit the target at 100yds. This gun is made for a red dot. The trigger that comes out the box is outstanding. Shoot a 45cal for a month then tell me the Walther has a lot of recoil. one I put the red dot on this gun I hated it, because I didn't want to shoot my Kimber, or my Springfields, and I sold my S&W 2.0. I sunk mine in the mud, and it shot perfectly. maybe that would be a good vid, a torture test, Vs. a Glock 17 or 19. This weapon out the box is better than 99.9% of all guns I've shoot, and as good as some 4000.00 guns I have. The pro is outstanding bro. Even better accuracy, but I like the f's grip better. I'm hitting metal at 130yds. German engineering at it's best!!! Only gun I've had, I didn't want to improve. YOU CAN'T......
Oh yeah. I have 2 .45Cal pistols, and these 9mm are nothing comparable. I must admit, the .40 S&W is the worst of them all, so, that's not even a consideration
@@furiousstyles3136 My Kimber was a 45 cal. All test's that have been done either under controlled conditions, or in the field shows no difference in stopping power ,and penetration compared to the 9mm. you can argue all you want ,I used too. It is, what it is.
@@furiousstyles3136 Why do you think cops carry 9mm? why do you think 9mm is a NATO round? If you told me 10mm. I'd say yah, I can't beat or compare that with a 9mm. But robbers, and bad actors are not bear.
Hum…the HK VP9SK is now optic ready…wonder what your wife would prefer…the Walther or HK?
@@lynnferguson7349 that's a good question. Plus shortly after the PDP purchase we found slides that became optic ready. I may sell another firearm towards another HK like that because she really did like the paddle mag release and I hated robbing her of that.
I have the same one
I'll probably never sell mine
I have a Walther PDP compact with a Holosun 508T and a Holosun PID, ZR Tactical ultra mass guide rod with a 15lb spring.. Taylor Freelance brass magwell and their deathgrip backstraps, as well as their +0 basepads.. I also got a +12 mag extension from them, nothing like having 27+1 😂😂😂 and i have an Insane kydex creations flextron holster, as well as a QVO tactical holster that i switch between..I just recently put some suppressor hight tritium sights from Truglo that gives a 1/3 lower cowitness.. Right now its being sent off to Monsoon Tactical to get the Lucky 7's port job.. I can't imagine swapping this out with another gun as my EDC.. I may get the Dynamic Performance trigger innthe future, but im in no rush, because its probably the best trigger u can get out of the box.. But the DPT has a reset similar to a race gun and its comparable to an Apex and an Overwatch.. I'd probably go with the DPT over both of them simply because a Walther trigger on a Walther gun is guaranteed to be more reliable
Update bro!
Good stuff…
did you do any tests w/ the original trigger vs the “upgrade”?
@@ryanmfoto what "tests" are you referring to? We went by more of a personal impression, as the sig trigger was also an Apex trigger. This wasn't a stock to stock trigger comparison.
I would be really interested in learning how you filled in the numbers on the magazines. Could you share more details on your process?
I find the 3.5 F really snappy as compared to my MP9 2.0 3.6 compact. I may try a different recoil spring?
Yes. I have a part II coming up. For the 3.5" I changed to the DPM uncaptured recoil spring system and used the slightly heavier one to work with both ball-ammunition as well as self-protection ammunition
Hey man 2 questions??? 1- hows the trigger going for you? 2- whered you buy that sandpaper that you have stuck on side of firearm? Thanks
Awesome production, very well presented enjoyed the no bs no waste of my time
Nice to see a video from someone using their pdps a lot
Own a pdp 5in full size odgreen, 4in compact and just bought a 3.5 F series . All with halosun SCS. Also own a ppq m2 navy and ppq m2 4in. No issue with any of them. Great video.
My PDP F-Series 3.5 is my only carry pistol. Totally stock except I moved the mag release to the "wrong" side! 🙃 I have XS Sights coming this week and a 1791 OWB Holster. Probably have a Overwatch trigger installed soon but I'm still deciding on which 'flavor' (curved or flat) to buy.
Awesome bro. Do you know if it can use reg PDP Compact holsters?
@@luckylandy2945 So far from what I can see, they can interchange, especially if you have the same WML on it. I was able to do that between the PDP and the F-series 3.5" if they used the same Olight.
I am glad that i purchased the flat trigger over the curved one. But I'm also one that uses APEX triggers on the PPQ M2
@@troytacticaldefense2597 OK, thank you...
Hi I am interested in how you painted your mags and your Walther logo and repainted the logos on the ejection part of the barrel. New subscriber 😊my painted logos have faded over time that came originally with the firearm ( serial number etc
Awesome video bro. Couple questions please. I have the PDP COMPACT and I freaking love it. I just ordered the F series to use as my summer carry. My questions are, I may have missed it but you said that your PDP was your winter time carry, so what's your summertime carry? And 2nd I can't find holsters or mags for my F Series. I'm wondering if my compact holsters and mags will fit my F Series when it gets here or what's up with that? Thank you for any advice 🙏🏾
My summertime carry is currently my customized Glock 43x using Gen 3 Shield Arms 15rnd magazines and a Holosun 407k 3MOA optic, using a MIE Productions IWB holster. As for the F-series Holsters, I stated two options in the video within the F-series section Choice #1 was the Werkz holster using the Streamlight TLR7A IWB, or you can use Wethepeople holsters with the same light combination. The PDP 15 round, 15rnd+2 and PPQ M2 magazines will all fit your F-series PDP. Stay tuned for my next video when I show some footage of the Overwatch Precision Trigger and DPM recoil reduction spring system. They actually make a BIG difference!
@@macross40 Ok cool, and thank you. I bought a Olight for my 19X but don't use it. Was too big to me. So what if I don't put a light on my F Series? I'm not big on lights. But will is fit normal PDP Compact type holsters?
@@macross40 Thanks again bro, fyi all compact holsters will fit the F Series perfectly.
What size spring u get for pdp n does it work good
For the pdp f- series overwatch trigger I used the stock trigger spring. I like the stock trigger weight.
For the DPM spring I'm using the stage one stronger recoil spring as tend yonuse 124gr ball ammo and 147gr protection ammo. But only the test fire will determine what we stick with
any other insight into what was wrong with the jamming?
No. Attest I got our back from Walther, there were no further issues. Could never figure out what caused it to jam. Could also be break in time for the pistol
I have both. My bases are covered
I use my PDP F Series 3.5" as my primary carry gun It has Holosun SCS Green dot, TLR7a light, Lok Grips Brass Magwell, Lok Brass baseplates, Lok Brass Backstrap, DPM Recoil system. These mods made it a phenomenal shooter. The added weight and DPM system really minimized the snappiness of the gun. I put at least 1500 rounds through with zero failures to fires.
does the magwell print much?
Which don spring did you user if I may ask? I'm testing mine tomorrow
Let's gooo!
Thought this was a video about Megatron 🤣
A PPK/S was never made in Germany. It was made in France by Manurhin licensed by Walter. It then was shipped to Germany for final assembly and stamping. No PPK ,PPK/S or PP was made in Germany after WW2, they were all made in France by Manurhin for Walter. This went on until Walter brought the manufacturing to the States by Interarms, Ranger?, S&W etc. This took place somewhere around 1980. Manurhin continued to produce at least the PPK/S under Manurhin.for a time and an advertising battle/ campaign followed for a while between the two. Walter would advertise buy the real Walter and Manurhin would come back and say Hell we are the manufacture of the real Walter. I. Purchased a Manurhin.PPK/S 380 ACP/9mm Kurz in 1983, in a duragard finish. It’s identical to the Walter made from the same castings/molds but no Walter stamp. The older post war ones are truly on another level of craftsmanship from the modern ones today.
Excellent video. I appreciate the detail you provided as well as the suggestion.
Yall really trust yall lives with those aftermarket triggers
On any of the cars or trucks youve owned, do you only trust parts from the OEM? or do you occassionally go to o'Reilly's or Autozone for a part or two? Not all aftermarket is bad, my friend. :-)
I just replaced my PDP F 3.5 Trigger with the Flat Face Overwatch Precision Trigger. The Trigger upgrades an already excellent "out-of-the-box" stock Walther Trigger. I have about 1500 rounds through it so far. Been mostly 124 Grain Blazer Brass.
Thanks, as I saw the Overwatch it's on my GET list next month
I've used a ZR tactical guide rod for the PDP-F 3.5. I don't think there is a noticeable difference in felt recoil. It may be better for the PDP Gen 1
Who you had do the gas pedal?
Cerakote Specialties, but they recently closed down after 20 years. I've spoken to the owner about what components they used for the gas pedal because it is VERY unique. I've seen an entire Gen 3 Grip done in this texture
Nice work! I truly do love my PDP 3.5" now. I had no idea this video was being made..
Overwatch does indeed have a trigger for the F-Series.

Who’s the maker on that holster? Looks like a Milt Sparks but could be anything.
Is that a Baldr s or Mini on the PDP?
I’d honestly want a slight take up. Me personally. For safety & muscle memory expectation of when the trigger will break. I got a Pdp. Fantastic gun. Walther is criminally underrated.
What kind optic is that u have on pdp
how does it conceal vs the 320? specs are close but reality tells the tale.
I have Werkz Holsters for both. I've only concealed the p320 in its compact grip frame. But is was slightly better than the PDP. But I could draw and focus faster than the P320 from the holster a full .4 sec faster with the PDP
