    This is a valiant effort, however, it's clunky, longer and more complicated than necessary and is fresh out of the 1950's. Suggest you have a look at ua-cam.com/video/GevZOS-nCuw/v-deo.html, which only goes for 12 ish minutes and includes basic coverage of the Contents page, too. Note also that when needing to modify a style, just right click on the style and select modify. You don't need to click 4 times through Style Manager and subsequent options to get it done.

    Hi, I have 10 open ended questions, and I have transcribed them with me giving follow up questions within some of the 10 qns. Should I use InVivo to analyze codes for each of the 10 qns separately or lump them all together by the participant?

    • @AnthonyCliffePHD
      @AnthonyCliffePHD 8 місяців тому

      They should be coded separately as for open ended questions it's about the patterns in the data i.e. what is coming up from the participants rather than individual perspectives like you'd have in an interview. I hope this helps!

    hey man, any way of getting the appendix list to do the same? I've defined a new list: Appendix A, but can't get level 2 to read: A.1 - it keeps putting it as 1.A.

    • @AnthonyCliffePHD
      @AnthonyCliffePHD 8 місяців тому

      For appendix you're best making this in a new document and importing that across after a page break

    Do you have any videos or advice for putting you themes into graphs and charts?

    • @AnthonyCliffePHD
      @AnthonyCliffePHD 9 місяців тому

      I would create an excel spreadsheet with code/theme name and how many times it appear then use that data and the inbuilt chart function to make a graph/chart. However, you have to consider if it's useful or not as if doing Thematic analysis the number of times something appear isn't that relevant but could be for discourse or content analysis.

    Say for example participant A had a different view to participant B for the same code. Should one generate a different code? Also, what level of detail should a code have before it becomes very fragmented?

    • @AnthonyCliffePHD
      @AnthonyCliffePHD Рік тому

      This would depend on your code do you have one for positive things about X and one for negative things about X or one for anything to do with X. If you have just anything to do with X that's fine as you'll be looking at the code through the theme to find participants who agree/disagree when writing up. Coding is subjective to the researcher you can go as detailed as you'd like. I'd try and stay away from very broad codes as ideally, theme generation will come from combining and eliminating your more detailed codes. If you have too broad a code it makes it harder for you to pick out the nuience difference. Check out my thematic coding video on my channel. I hope this helps!

    Dear Anthony, thanks for the great video. If we have a 2x4 situation, can we still use crosstabs to test for a "trend"? Situation: Outcome: Death/Alive (binary) Independent variables: Patient took Medicine A/B/C/D

    • @AnthonyCliffePHD
      @AnthonyCliffePHD Рік тому

      Dear Takanna, thank you for replying! Yes, you can! It will look a little complicated but it can be run, just be aware that with multiple variables to ensure you are meeting the requirements of expected count greater than 5. As you're adding in extra sometimes your count will be lower as you're splitting across multiples. But yes in short you can, good luck!
