My two cents: 11th most dangerous for property crimes doesn’t necessarily mean physical danger. If this means we are the city with the 11th most police reports made for property theft and porch pirating is included in that “danger”, than this makes a lot more sense.

I lived in Denver from 1991-1993 and I Remember being InFormed that Violent Gang CrimeS were 10 Times Worse -in Denver than in SouthCentral Los Angeles .. and I was Like -'noWay-jozé' LA is Like the Poster City for HardCore GangBanging and is PrettyMuch Synonymous w/ Crips & Bloods .. but Realy it is/was then Idk about now today .. Lived in Salt Lake City my whole life (almost 35 years) and it’s not that bad lol it’s just like any city, there are good parts and bad parts. But saying it’s the MOST dangerous is crazy. New York is a hundred times worse. Maybe a thousand times worse.

Are you kidding. I moved to Northern Utah 35 years ago from Chicago land. There may be adjustments to be made, but most dangerous?.... I have lived in several suburbs from Sandy to West Valley. Now in Bountiful. Believe me I would never tell anyone to not move here because of crime. Maybe stay away from the North side would be all I might suggest..

Bruh wtf i was born and raised in one of the wordt "hoods" in salt lake. It isnt dangerous. Slc the ki d of place where if you arent looking for trouble. You will never find it. Property crime is the only thing you gotta worry about. And if your even just a little cautious, you will be fine. I had my truck stolen back in 2017 and that has been the worst thing to happen to me crime-wise.

I live in Salt Lake City. I'm currently having to live in a homeless shelter; and I can tell you that Salt Lake City is Very Far from being the most dangerous city in the country. I moved to Utah in 1995, from Northern California, because, in spite of their illegal gun grabbing laws, I couldn't find anywhere in California where I didn't hear gunfire within a mile of my home almost every night. Here in Utah we have a lot of guns and a lot of freedom with those guns, and I've only heard gunshots a few times in close to 30 years. Most of those gunshots, about 20 give or take, were in Ogden not Salt Lake City. 🤷🏽

There's no place or neighborhood I won't go in or afraid to go in period. We had a spot back in the day known as Harvey st in West valley city. But that's been gone for mad years. Just like when they said west valley city was a dangerous city. I'll go in every neighborhood in west valley.

doubt this story. property crime could be a big issue. for decades the mormons here have thought their neighbors (meaning everyone in their city) are trustworthy so they do stupid things to have property stolen (like leave their garage door open during the day while there in the house watching TV or eating). leaving car doors unlocked is another one. locking car doors be leaving expensive items in the car visible to a potential thief. so I think a lot of the property crime is because of that. BUT, the NEW PRISON here is one of the most dangerous prison's in the country. mostly because of how it was built (they try to run it like a high school (prison workers work out amongs the prisoners). again, this was probably like utah govt officials that had pity for the prisoners and decided they wanted to help rehabilitate them so they forced the prison workers to work among the prisoners. so a lot ofstupid things that happen here are because of the mormon culture. I'm mormon and not all mormons are like this. but plenty of them think the world is all peaches and cream and if you're a good honest caring person, nothing bad will happen to you. but in this world, it no longer pays to be the nice person. it's still taking people here a long time to learn that.

Lived here my whole life and there might be some sketchy areas but I'll still go. There's spots in Denver, Houston n St Louis i wouldn't go unless i know someone in the area cause i ain't stupid

Thinking of moving to Utah from CA....obviously why I'm here. I've heard the following are good zips to live in: 84401, 84414, and 84403, but unsure where exactly ni Utah to look. I'm interested in a place to raise middle/high schoolers, hope to have good activities available (jiu jitsu, ice skating, etc). Thoughts? Thanks

Everybody needs to move to utah! Drove through a while ago and it's nice, calm and a little boring- a good way. I always recommend utah to New Yorkers, Floridians and Texans!

I grew up in the Salt Lake Valley and know it well. One thing to consider is that only 20% of Salt Lake County lives in the city, and only 10% of the metro area calls the city proper home. This is in sharp contrast to places like Austin, where half the metro area lives in the city limits.
