Great racing John
Great video John, so good to see you racing the 250F at Spa.
Nice one John! Lot's of traffic... it's the summer holidays!😂
Great battle, considering that Josef Rettenmaier's car is a T3 "Piccolo" a much lighter car than yours.
Indeed it is lighter and Jo is braver than me so races without a rollbar!
When I got to 7:31, I thought I mouthed the exact same words as it became clear it won't slow down fast enough...
Great circuit! Old school like thruxton and Goodwood. Shame about the chicanes though. Great driving and glorious engine sound!
Hi John! Sounds like you had a lot of fun! Fast track, nice engine roar
Glorious sound.
Excellent, thanks.
Why no leather helmet & goggles? And a swig of champagne during a pitstop 😂
Maaan, those downshifts.. 🤤🤤🤤 Thank you very much!
That poor gearbox on downshifts lol
Merci beaucoup pour ce week-end, j'était absolument subjugué par l'agressivité avec laquelle vous conduisiez ces voitures de collection, c'est juste magnifique à voir, merci.
How amazing , to drive this category & this location, nothing but a dream, I would happily follow a pack that beautiful, a fantasy 🙌🏻 i loved the way the car gets angry on the downshift after the tunnel, great driving you could have driven all day, lap 7 was immense , hand signals too 🚗 .
So funny, when watching from this perspective I expected them to go up the ramp at Tabac for the old pre-swimming pool layout these cars would’ve used. This is how I dream of spending my sundays. Thanks for sharing this footage!
you forget save budget for a gopro xd
The car runs on magnetos, that interferes with modern cameras.
@@jcgabriel1569 that dosent make sense. I think you are thinking on recording a video screemed from a camera with record video with a camera
@@alexruiz1197 it was mentioned in a comment in here. They said that the car's magneto interfered with the camera, and they need some insulation just to make the camera work... The magnetos of these old cars were pretty powerful... I've watched a video of someone restoring a 1930s Grand Prix car, he joked that the car's magneto is strong enough to be used for arc welding if need be!
@@jcgabriel1569 very interesting. Then I guess I'm wrong.
great to see that. Thanks for sharing
those downshifts 🤨
Now this is racing like a true gentleman. Fantastic ! Cheers.
Fantastic footage! Don’t mind minor issues with the quality/noise/interference at all. Love how he incrementally gains more confidence and pushes a little more. Can only imagine how much more legendary Fangio’s name would ring if we had this level of on-board footage from back in the day.
Amazing footage. 15:15 looked scary with hitting kerb
Very cool!
Wow really cool. LOL, but apparently filmed on a 1955 camera!
These cars run on magnetos that interfer with modern cameras. This camara hardly worked at all until we spent alot of time insulating the camara from the chassis
Wonderful.. Wonderful.. Wonderful.
Racing on the streets of Monaco feels really fast! Doesn't it.
I don't feel the official feed captures the actual speed and thrill
Excellent.
You go bro. Looks like an AC Cobra. Saw the name Lister and had to check. Goodluck.
Great in car racing sweet TVR Absolutely awesome drivers Would love to know more about car an drivers
Thank you for posting such a great video. I would love to know the specs on the car. These things are very rare in OZ. Is it to full FIA spec ( original race car) or is it to similar spec ? Would very much like to see the details. Can offer you my email if you wish. Again, thank you so much for posting such a most underated motor car 👍🥃🇦🇺
Thanks Geoff. Yes it's full FIA spec, approx 450bhp from the 289 engine. Still has drum brakes at the rear so stopping it can be an issue!
@@johndspiers thanks for the get back John. Great piece of machinery their , and driven properly. Car would be worth a great deal of money here in OZ. 👍🥃🇦🇺
Danke
Congratulations guys, nicely done. A proper battle of attrition! If only the race had been 44 minutes, the brakes might have made it! 😂- Fred
Thanks Fred!
Great race! Thanks for posting
The weak part of 60's muscle cars was clearly roadholding and trim in general, not lack of hp, for sure: fast in the straight, low and drift in any corner
why run in fast fwd it makes it look so bad not worth watching
I used to race go karts when I was a kid in Bakersfield. This brings back a lot of fun memories, very similar action when trying to overtake in the corners and on the straight. Some guys you just can't get around.
These racing lines.....
It all looks so slow, despite the engine screams :) To be honest, looking at the speed indicator it wasn't, I would not like to take corners in those cars at those speeds! I reckon you have modern upgrades to race so fast :)
What the hell is an A40 doing on a race track?
the first time i saw a v6 going backwards
Old school real racing! :0)
Mustang? What Mustang.
What the heck was my Dad doing at 9:58 in his Austin Cambridge? I thought that was replaced when I was about 7 by our Wolseley 16/60.
My A40 farina never used to GO like that!!
Well done to the driver of that A40, number 55. Punching well above his weight, he did well to fight off those other, better cars for so long.
Never seen an Austin A40 raced before. Quite surprised how quick it was.
150 mph on the speedo?? In which century would that happen??
That's just the standard VBox software desplay used for all cars. At Goodwood the Cortinas are pulling around 126-128mph
My Dad’s A40 never performed like that…
Not round BH, just to it, and from it…
Needs better tyres..? Sluggish clutch..? Huh..?
Willing little steed..! Great delicate touch, driver very familiar with car and track. ..good match with Mustang...!!
Great racing. I got a cramp from doing the old heel/toe.
