International Mountmakers Forum
Приєднався 21 тра 2020
We are a group of allied professionals dedicated to the advancement and the work of making mounts for the safe display and storage of the world’s man-made and natural objects. If you do this work, are interested in doing this work, or are an allied professional who works with mountmakers - You are in the right place!
Mountmaking is the process of designing, fabricating and installing supports - called “mounts”, “brackets” or “armatures” - for safe display or storage of artworks, artifacts, or natural history specimens. A well-made mount should help protect the object from external hazards or inherent structural weaknesses while enhancing the viewer’s experience.
The International Mountmakers Forum is an organization that exists to support the work of the mountmaking community. It is committed to fostering communication, promoting best practices, and disseminating current information regarding materials, tools, techniques and solutions for object storage

This is so cool!!!!!! Aside from my mountmaking job at the museum I work at, I also run our archaeology lab and this is a great way to display our broken vessels. Excellent work!
Had to boycott instagram (again) and love seeing videos on UA-cam!! Excited to watch these all again before the next install.
Can we use lascaux directly or by diluting it in some solvent on leather or skin without heating? Will it be reversible after few years??

Hi Tim, I'm a HVAC engineering at the Fine Art Museum of San Francisco. Great video, interesting career. On your seismic isolator I was thinking about magnets reverse polarity suspension and using screws to adjust the magnetic gaps for load balance.
Really clever system and beautifully executed!
A description of the presentations can be nice to have ;-)
