      @@kozicottage Thanks for the reply, fellow Canadian here. I have been looking also, but as you and I know, prices for a vehicle are retarded. I think deleting it would go a long way to making it a bulletproof, dependable engine, I think in the next year or so prices will come down.

      On this one I don't, luckily so far I only had to replace a corroded DEF line and had a muffler shop replace the snapped bolts on my flex pipe, very common problem on these trucks. I just hit 150k km so not bad at all. My previous one had the extended 5yr/200k warranty, most of the warranty work was for the air suspension which was total garbage in the winter. But engine and transmission were great, I traded it in at 240k

      The tree I just cut down is 21" and it was a challenge with an 18" gas powered saw. Also depends on what kind of tree it is, if it's hardwood, I would not even attempt it with a 12". You can always rent a bigger saw for a weekend and use it to cut the bigger pieces then use your 12" for the smaller chunks

    If the burners were corroded it makes one wonder about the primary and secondary heat exchangers, especially the secondary where the propane fumes condense. A working carbon monoxide detector would be a good idea.

    • @kozicottage
      @kozicottage 10 місяців тому

      So I did look inside the heat exchanger tubes, as much as I could anyway and didn't see much corrosion. But yes, we do have a few carbon monoxide detectors around, one pretty close to the furnace :)

    • @clintonwalker2413
      @clintonwalker2413 10 місяців тому

      From what I have seen on other videos, where the exhaust gasses exit the heat exchanger is where most of the corrosion takes place. Michigan Heating Guy has posted several videos of heat exchanger replacements and usually shows the corrosion. Its the reason why secondary heat exchangers are almost always made from stainless steel. @@kozicottage

    Not sure of your dock size and set up, eg is it attached to shore, but concrete loses about 40% of its weight in the water so you have a bit over 200lbs holding the dock in place. Maybe next spring drop a couple more? Good luck, have fun on the water!

      It's a small floating platform. We didn't end up using the anchors last summer (ran out of time due to a major storm that hit here late May). The lake bottom has lots of silt, so I'm hoping the anchors will get buried in the muck and won't drag on the bottom. If there will be too much movement I can drop a few cinderblocks to add more weight. We'll see what happens once spring arrives :)

    I don't think you will be happy with that spot. Get a 2 or 2.5" OD steel schedule 80 piece of pipe 20' long and put it up against the house away from the trees and brace it against the eve of the house so it's away from the trees. All of those trees will give you outages all day and night as the satellites cycle through above it.

    • @kozicottage
      @kozicottage 2 роки тому

      You're right, I'm not 100% happy. Problem is, anywhere close to the house I will hit trees, and they are all super tall pines (80-100ft tall). I'm thinking my best option would be to move it closer to the lake side as it's wide open facing north-west. Problem there is with getting a pole into the ground, we have maybe 6" of dirt and then hit bedrock. I will have some more time in August to piss around with this. It's not terrible now, but I do get a 3-10second outage every few minutes. It's only noticeable on video calls, streaming Netflix etc. is totally fine.
