As an amateur photographer and wildlife lover, I set up the channel to share some of the wildlife antics in Hampshire with family and friends as well as some other photo playlists. I'm still in the process of setting this up so be patient and check back regularly for updates
A busy morning at the Watering Hole
With a new visitor to the garden, I repositioned the camera back at the pond (aka Watering Hole) to capture the Moorhen who has been resident in the garden for 6 days now and seems very much at home with the other birds. I was very excited to see the Nuthatches by the pond, its the first time I've seen them at the pond.
The clips start with a few seconds of the Dawn Chorus, captured just before 04:00. Then between 05:00 and 13:00 the camera caught the following multiple times:- Rabbit, Great Spotted Woodpecker, Pigeon, Moorhen, Young Robin, Nuthatch, Sparrow, Blackbird, Green Woodpecker, BlueTit, Goldfinch, GreatTit
There is a bit of ' standoff' between a pigeon and a black bird. It was also funny to see the Green Woodpecker slipping into the pond (a shallow part).
Lots of bathing and lots of spectators for the bathing.

DAY 19 That's not my Sparrow!

DAY 19 No activity day 17&18 after a very busy day 15....but then this Sparrow appeared. I don't think he's 'my' Sparrow that has been nest building, he's a little be too cautious. Where have my slow building couple gone?
DAY 16 Only he makes an appearance and not for long

DAY 16 After a very, very busy day on day 15, it went very quiet today. He made an appearance in the nest but only for a short time and no nest material was added.
Get out of my Hemp Potato Planter!

My Hemp Potato Planters are going down a treat with my wildlife. Though I'm not so sure I want the Munjac Deer and Grey Squirrel in my potatos, but I'm very happy for the Great Tit to use the Hemp as nesting material.

DAY 15 Very Active morning in just over 2 hours

DAY 15 Very active today, I counted the pair arriving at the nest box 24 times in just over 2 hours with nesting material each trip.
DAY 14 Oh no, a Thief in the nest

DAY 14 Not much new nest building today but we have a thief stealing feathers. I actually saw her flying out. He wasn't at all happy as you can hear.

DAY 13 There was a little activity on Day 12 but a lot more Day 13, this is encouraging, they are getting into the swing of things. But the building still stops early in the day, I guess they need to feed.
DAY 11 Another day and more chasing out of the nest box

DAY 11 I'm getting worried this nest will never be finished. They both arrived a few times during the morning and again 'empty beaked', no new nesting material. Each time he was chased from the box. Eventually he did deliver one new piece of nesting material, but that was it for the day.
DAY 10 Sticks & Bugs

DAY 10 I don't know what is happening to the nest, another day of NO progress. He arrived first, followed closely by the female who chased him out of the box as usual. She stayed in the box for around 5 minutes rearranging the nesting and left. He came back later, did more rearranging for about 20 minutes and left. No new nesting was delivered. DAY 9 No new nesting material was delivered today at all. Do they think they are finished? There isn’t a lot of nesting material in the box. He spent 90 minutes popping in and out of the box and rearranging the nesting material in the morning, but didn’t add anything to the nest. She was no-where to be seen, I was worried she had found someone else. Then she eventually arrived and only stayed a...
DAY 8 Time for a feather lining, but where have the feathers come from?

DAY 8 A very busy morning, a lot of progress in just 20 minutes. However I am a little suspicious about the ability to find so many feathers in such a short space of time. I expect they may have been stolen from another nest.

DAY 7 Pretty quiet Day 6 & 7, though day 7 a nice white feather arrived, followed by a few more bits of straw and sadly he's still being chased out of the box

DAY 5 of Sparrow nest building. I've not shortened this one, so relax, enjoy your coffee and watch the behaviour. I thought this was great progress, they had been working well as a team building the nest all morning and now appeared to be resting together (cautiously looking at each other). She even appeared to give him a few friendly pecks...find out what happened (fast forward if you wish).

Using 'google translate' I believe the comment was ..."Cool, which camera did you install there?" It was just my iphone. I was driving on a lane and parked the car to watch the Barn Owl. I see the Barn Owl regularly in the same area but don't often get the opportunity to stop and record it.
