Why not just refit another beam parallel to that one with in 6inches and brace it to help elevate the pressure off the main beam. We double beam here in California valley. No recommended but it sure as hell add comfort knowing it stand a tropical storm if it hits land. Earthquakes are still a danger but we know having worry bout tornadoes and tropical storms as they call it here. Son b was a hurricane but the west is a bunch of chickens not trying make others scared or offended

Now THIS is the proper way to address issues . It's sooooo much nicer when the builder and inspector have a relationship, not an unethical relationship, the inspector calls me in my bullshit , I fix my bullshit {in the span of building a whole structure if there aren't any mistakes .....your lying lol} The inspector shouldn't be some dickhead that comes by talking shit about every single stupid little thing , to be clear if it ain't right fix it . Period point blank end of discussion, ya gotta fix it cuz people pay a shitload of money trusting YOU the builder to build their dream home , you may have built a million dream homes and lost touch with just how important and special somebody's home is .....however if the inspector and builder are having a dick swinging contest it's not gonna make any easier on the client at all. Most of these pseudo inspectors just create more problems . You definitely want to get it inspected you just don't wanna have to deal with some ninny taping off every single little thing that you've never seen and nobody noticed till he came through with a magnifying glass creating issues ....not to mention if your not working with a builder that will happily come running back for yrs after they build you a house to fix work that should be guaranteed to the extent that if God don't come down and slap the shit out of it any work I do will be good and be right for yrs to come and if it ever ain't ....call me cuz I don't want my work lookin bad or bein bad . Nobody asked me so naturally I'm taking wayyy too long to explain that you want your builder and your inspector to have a good relationship and work closely with YOU the client to give you everything you paid your hard earned money for
