Things that all seem important: - work emails - contracts - personal emotional communication from people i care about - messages from boss - messages from clients - connecting with people i care about - medical appointments, etc. Though work is more time sensetive, i simply wont get any of the personal/community things done if I prioritize work completely, and i value community and family more than my job.
i dont know this person but im hooked instantly lol.
Thank you so much!
what is it from please ?
A talk I gave at a local school in Massachusetts several years ago.
Thank you are so insightful ! Thank you!
This is me to a tee!
I am 45 and this is soooooo me!
I want to work on not interuppting people.
Do you tell someone that you have adhd. Should you tell them with this disorder, it's probable I will interrupt them. Do I tell them why this happens? Because I have tried to,,& they put up a shield against me. Later the next day, they block or just ignore me permanently. I know they tell others this guy is wierd. That's when I have been rejected and get upset with them. Soon I view them as enemies and have lashed out at them. I am the worship band lead guitarist. Not to brag, I am the one with my talent that makes our live music incredibly good. When I come under attack from the pastor. He says adhd is an excuse. He be-littles me. He treats me like 2nd class citizen. I up and walked out of church. I have no intentions of ever returning. I was embarrassed by him. I met a nice lady, she can't deal with me, will closed door on me, or us.soon. ADHD is ruined my life.
I am so sad to hear this. ADHD is not an excuse; it's a serious condition that affects millions of people worldwide. I would encourage to tell people about your ADHD after you know them for a while, when you feel safe with them. Interruptions are common for people with ADHD due to impulse control issues and they often have to do with a concern about forgetting what you want to say. Try to focus on what the other person is saying more and trust that what you want to say will come to you at the right time. If you forget it, I bet you will think about something else. It seems like your pastor might benefit from learning more about ADHD and maybe ADDitudemag.com could help him with this. Good luck and I hope things get better.
This is THE BEST ADHD HACKS explanations i have ever heard. I could not stop taking notes. Sometimes i had to rewind bec i couldnt keep up. Bursting w/ informations that were well presented and well explained. I realized they are the same info’s that i heard several times from other podcasts. But i just got it now! It just now they all made sense and i could put them all together. And this podcast was 4 yrs ago. Thanks you, thanks to you ladies.🤦🏻♀️
I'm so glad that you liked it!
How about with fewer words? Backpack. Door. ?
I've gotten really good at regulating all other areas of ADD (I was diagnosed before they merged it with ADHD) but regulating my anger (and other emotions) has been the one thing I can't control very well. It's caused a lot of issues with my family when I was younger (even though I was diagnosed as a teen, we were given no coping techniques and my parents didn't know what ADD "meant") and sometimes I snap at my 6 year old without realizing it, but taking space from her to diffuse my anger sometimes leaves her confused. I hate it.
Your videos are brilliant and are really helping me :)
Dont binge on netflix hit really hard...
I think there can also be other explanations than not having made the pieces small enough for the fact that one isn’t able to just begin. Like rsd when for example there is a lot hanging on the task that needs to be accomplished.
I agree. There's usually a multitude of factors.
Thank you!
I can't finish watching this video
Sorry to hear this. What would help you?

Your personal story was so touching. That was very normalizing. Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Mam, I dont know what I am going through, but I find it very difficult to remember the things which I learn previously (even though I revised multiple times) and my working memory is very much reduced , I cant solve complex maths and computer programs . During solving complex programs , I find it difficult to keep all things which I thought previously ( seconds ago) in my head to solve the problem. Even though I dedicate so much of time in studying , I could not match with my friends scores ( who score more than me by putting lesser effort than me ) and this makes more depressed and tired . Currently I have very bad lifestyle ( junk food, no exercise, no proper sleep) , but I have already tried following these steps and ended up in no results . I am a undergrad student , I need to resolve this to get placed . I need to know the exact reasons and disorder behind this and exact solutions to get back my old brain . This change happened to me before 5 years , currently I am 22 years old . During my school time , my brain was normal and properly functioning. I don’t know what exactly caused this change. Please help me in this , I am really hopeless here
I am sorry that you are feeling so hopeless. Does your school offer any support services? it seems like you need more assistance than you are receiving. I would also recommend making some changes to your lifestyle to eat healthier, move your body and get the rest you need. Change takes time and patience. Pick one of two things to focus on and start there. Good luck!
Diagnosed at age 38, was dealing with symptoms for several years. Loss of working memory is the worst, I lost a job because of it
Thank you for sharing. I hope things are going better.
I don't know how this has so few "likes"! I took multiple pages of notes on this and plan on clipping portions to send to various people. It helps both me with my fairly new diagnosis of ADHD and has inspired me to help my son newly diagnosed with it as well. Great piece and I will be subscribing and/or following for sure.
Thanks so much!!
this video is great but hard to listen to. there is another commercial every minute and a half. so those of us that try to listen while working, have to stop working way too often to skip the commercials. youtube will continue playing more commercials if we don’t skip. do what you want with this info, but i thought it would be good to share
Thank you for sharing this. I didn't know this. I will look into this.
Cheer~~~soak or saturate (something) with a substance.😊
This is unbelievably important!
Thank you so much!!

What are your thoughts on neurofeedback being used to address ADHD symptoms? This was recommended to me recently after being dx with Inattentive subtype, but I'm struggling to find much research on it though for effectiveness.
Some people have found it incredibly helpful while others haven't. If you can't or don't want to take medication, it could be worth a try. The research on neurofeedback seem to be mixed but I'm not an expert on this technique.
Thanks for the great presentation on ADHD and anxiety! I'm happy to have found your work and look forward to reading your book. I just started following you on LinkedIn too.
You are most welcome! Thanks for the support.
I often feel like I don't have any spoons left to socialise, or to concentrate on/engage with what friends are saying or want to talk about. I never hear this being spoken about, so maybe it's not an adhd thing, maybe it's a me thing 🤔 😳
No I think many people with ADHD are so overwhelmed by dealing with the demands of daily living that there's nothing left for socializing. You are not alone.
My anxiety as an adult reduced when I realised I have adhd and I'm not wired the same as others
This is such good news. What about realizing you had ADHD changed your anxiety? How did that happen?
I have ADHD and I often feel anxiety because my brain can’t triage what thing that needs doing is most important and what things don’t have to be done right this minute and it feels like everything regardless of how important it is needs to be done right this minute so the more things there are the more overwhelmed I feeland when people tell me that it doesn’t have to be done right this minute and we’re not doing anything at all even though stuff needs doing regardless of how prioritized it should be it causes me incredible anxiety
Thanks for sharing. This is a common problem for people with ADHD. I think this anxiety comes from the difficulty of deciding what's urgent (time related) and what's important (value related). I find that making a chart with tasks in one column, time to work on it in another and due dates in a third helps my clients (and myself) reduce this anxiety.
One small thing I found that helps with not forgetting stuff is grouping activites, for example a few years ago I grouped putting deodorant on with putting socks on in my morning routine, I can't leave the house without socks, so I also won't leave the house without deodorant
This is a great tool! Thanks for sharing--
Brain just closes down, when i go to do any task at the moment.
It can help to start with easier tasks that have something about them that you like to do or like enough to do. Break them down and remember that no size is too small.
Thank you. And thank you for speaking slowly and calmly- I find information presented with animated voices very hard to listen to and take in the information.
You are most welcome!
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and expertise! This all rings so true to me! Just diagnosed at 64 and now so much makes sense to me.
You are most welcome! Happy to be helpful. :)
Best video I saw for adhd parents thank you !
Thank you too!
Thank you for taking the time to provide support and advice for us women with adhd.❤ I grew up being told I was capable and so smart and couldn’t have adhd. By everyone, family, friends, even teachers and school counselors. Despite struggling with keeping up with assignments and focusing in classes. So resources like this are so affirming and needed. I am 27 just diagnosed and I feel like I know nothing on how to help myself. However resources like this, free, supportive, and informative are truly helping not only in managing my adhd but also my internalized shame, and guilt. Thank you so much!❤
Thank you so much for sharing your story. You are not alone! Check out more resources for women like you on my website www.drsharonsaline.com and additudemag.com. Best, Dr. Sharon
And by the time I work through the work list, I feel energized enough to cycle through again and spend another five minutes on each category. Making the goal this small helps me feel like I accomplished something, rather than feeling overwhelmed. Finishing tasks is such a struggle, especially with young ones wanting my attention.❤
This is both a great insight and so helpful to others. Thank you!
Noise makes it hard for me to think. Just planning my day can take an embarassing amounts of time with children crying, etc
I would love a talk on motivation without shame, and cbt tools!
Will do!
I would also love tips on mysophonia. My daughter has special needs, and when she has a bad day, she makes a particular sound.....and suddenly, I can't think!
For cleaning, I've found 5 minute timers help me get around to everything....tidying a room, starting laundry, unloading or reloading the dishwasher, taking out trash. Even if 5 minutes doesnt take care of the entire mess, it is much better than me hyper focusing on sanitizing my kitchen cabinets!😂
I love this idea. Yes, 5 minute increments can be just the right amount of time!
The CONSTANT/continual energy it takes to redirect myself and then REMAIN on task is utterly exhausting. :-(
I hear you. Pacing is everything with recovery time in between tasks to refuel.
@@DrSharonSaline Great advice & reminders. I'm also trying blatant rewards vs getting things done I don't want to do. So far it's working, LOL. Who knew?!! 😂
I got diagnosed with adhd and general anxiety disorder. On my first day of concerta my anxiety vanished! I was so used to living with anxiety i just axcepted it as part od my life.. that first day was so eye opening. So grateful to go through a day without anxiety and actually habe high self esteem
Great topic- I have never had any friends. I have ADHD and was the last of 6 kids. My mom and my family always hated me. I have never been connected to. I am a slave as a career. Alone. no family or anything else. Its pathetic. I am not trying any longer.
I am saddened to hear this Jane. I bet that you have a lot to offer others and the world. Maybe start by joining a group where the stakes are lower? Good luck!

Describe mindfulness in your words
Mindfulness is the awareness of yourself--thoughts, feelings and actions--without judgment and with compassionate acceptance. You notice what's happening and own it without self-criticism.
Adhd here. Managed 1.20 minutes. Got bored, moving on.
Thanks for watching!
Guys, Just like many ADHD'ers have created systems using apps like Notion, I'm using a mind-map system and it's working great. I can track, monitor and complete tasks which I plan for the week based on my energy levels. Would love to show it to anyone interested.
Why I'd have a problem with initiaton? When I'm not planned of a task in advance. It seems too complicated. It generates repelling emotions. My solution: I have created a task routine of say 15 mins which works for you which includes music, timer, a dice game etc. I just follow it and the task gets started and once it's started, I gain momentum
Bravo, Taukir! 👏
You are Loved
Thank you for your words of support and encouragement, Lora!
