Nice concepts elaboration. Query: in an existing column can one increase flooding limits by changing types of trays which operate in spray Regime like Shell trays mentioned in the presentation. While flow rates or capacity should be dependent on column diameter in appreciable rate terms. Pl reply.
@@syedimranbukhari Thanks for your question. The diameter of the column is determined from the flow rates and the physical properties of the fluid handled considering percentage flood of say 70 percent for example. The column will function efficiently within the rated capacity. Beyond this capacity the column operation will get into flooding zone affecting the efficiency. Trust this clarifies your question.
@SPEC786 thanks for the response. I deduce from this response that flooding velocity limit is a function of fluid properties and flow rates. Same is not related with type of trays or internals. Kind Regards,
@syedimranbukhari Thanks for the question again. The above statement is true for a given tray or tray layout. If the type of tray or the tray layout changes the capacity limit also changes.

What is difference between measured variable ,controled variable and manipulated variable ?Please reply sir.
@@naveenpandey3255 Thanks for your question. Measured variable is the process parameter to be measured for control purpose. For example if you want to control the process temperature in a reactor, you have to measure the temperature first and compare with set point temperature in a temperature controller. The measured temperature is the measured variable. The output of the controller is used to vary another process variable through a control valve. This may be steam or cooling water. This variable is called manipulated variable. The controlled variable is usually the measured variable. Hope this explanation is useful

Thanks for your question. There is long explanation for this question. Heat transfer process in boiling and vaporization is complex than single phase heat transfer process. To keep the explanation short, higher vapour fraction will be result of higher heat flux. The larger vapour content will blanket the heat transfer surface which will lead to decreased heat transfer. Heat transfer will transition to film boiling which is not desirable

In thermosyphon reboilers the driving force for thermosyphon circulation is the differential head available at the inlet to reboiler. This head is usually fixed for a design circulation rate. If the pressure drop is increased for whatsoever reason the head available will not be sufficient to maintain the circulation rate. So the circulation rate decreases.
@15:11, I thought pressure drop decreases with increasing vaporization, but you say pressure drop increases with increasing vaporization. Could you explain how?
Thank you for the question. As the vaporization increases the vapour fraction increases in the tube. In a given tube diameter this increased vapour flow rate increases the velocity of the fluid. As the velocity increases the pressure drop increases
What is bridge wall temperature means?
The bridge wall temperature is the temperature of the flue gas after the radiant heat is removed by the radiant tubes and before it hits the convection section
is that a typo at 3:58? On the temperature profile (Th out) goes to (Tc in)? shouldn't it be (Tc out) goes to (Tc in)
