How to make chopsticks
Today I show you my way of making chopsticks from cherry wood with hand tool (stanley plane). Follow me on Instagram ironwood_ls thanks for watching. Lorenzo
I was looking for a way to make adjustable tapers and this will work perfectly. Grazie mille!
Beautiful work, well done
send me one 😄.. you got way too many
Do you need to oil the wood at all or will it be fine to use without? (I have boiled linseed oil)
Boiled linseed oil has chemicals and is not food safe
Is there a plan for making a jig like this?
I think it is not useful for quantity.
you made a beautiful looking knive. a true usuba though is made of one layer of soft steal and one layer of hard steel. i reckon u just wanted to do the easy version of this right?
Thanks for the video one question, What number of mesh did you use?
its 120 t
wow, what a great technique for making chopsticks, very useful.... thank you, the video is very inspiring
Thanks so much
Was thinking about making a pair for my first wood project, and a branch of pecan just fell.
Hey
Hello
Hey Hello My Self Sourav Kalamkar I am From India I want to talk to you regarding screen printing plz reply me or plz tell me how can we connect with each other to talk.
Bruh, I came here to see a easy dye making chopsticks and I come to this...not easy btw.
Hello Lorenzo super intersting method do you know if you can print the samples in a non laser printer? thanks
Hi! I tried but do not work without a laser printer, I suspect it's something about the ink type (but I'm not sure)
@@lorenzoscoppolettilab4859 thanks for the reply probably because laser printer ink is like plastic and create an opaque layer im going to try this method thank you very much
laura lalù affascinante il lavoro, affascinante il risultato!
👏👏👏 well done, outstanding, was the green stone you used, was it a 8000 grit KITAYAMA?
Hi! Thanks, in almost 2 year I improve a lot my grinding technique, new video soon! :) the stone was a 8000 grit naniwa
Cute! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
Why do you rinse it with water? When etching, why isn't the etch going through the blue part of fabric, why is only the yellow part beeing etched? The the blue paint a protection? Thank you very much.
hi, sorry for the late reply, the process I used is called screen printing, and it is typical to find it for the creation of t-shirts.
@@lorenzoscoppolettilab4859 Np, thank you for your answer :)
In your video title images show snakewood… But I don’t see you working on any Sneakwood? Is there a video where you do that?
hi, sorry for the late reply, at the moment there is no video where I work it, but soon new content will arrive on the channel :) i am currently working to open a real shop
Stunning. Kudos!
I like how simple your set up is! How do you recommend making the taper on the middle board? I’m considering using a belt sander and guesstimating, but wanted to know if there was a better way. Thanks!
hi, sorry for the late reply, it can also be done with a hand saw and then finished with a plane
How much would charge to make a sheet? You do amazing work!
Hi, the first time I bought the materials I spent around 100 euros, but I have been using them for more than a year. For one sheet I this it's about 10 euros...
@@lorenzoscoppolettilab4859 I will gladly send you more than that to support another craftsman. Can you post an email or a place where I can send you euros? It would be so cool to say I ordered stencils custom made from overseas.
Can you share something Like this but in spanish please? Or what is the name of this process in spanish? Thx
Hi, the process is called "serigrafia", (I think is the same word in Italian or Spanish) normally this technique is used for printing logos and drawing on t-shirts or other cloth, I find quite useful using the stencil for metal etching. Hope to answer your questions. Have a good day
@@lorenzoscoppolettilab4859 excellent! Thank you so much!
Nice video! How does the chopstick stay in place in the jig? It moves around in mine
Thanks, in mine I use a press fit, but you can also make just an end stop (make out of wood) at the same height of the "channel/rail" use to put the hand plane. Hope to answer your questions, as you can read, English is not my language, but if you have any problem I'll try to help :)
Hello, i've just finished making my third set of chopsticks, i does the beeswax wear off esily? i just used some howards butcher block conditioner but am desiring a stronger finish to kind of put a film over them as some chopsticks have. any suggestions? how good is just wax and can i just stick with this butcher block?
Hi, I use a mix of beeswax and mineral oil (almost the same composition as the butcher block conditioner) I would not be able to recommend a product that creates a real patina, tung oil comes to mind (but they need at least 5/8 coats of product , and I don't know if it's safe for food contact). Beeswax without oil is very hard and doesn't work well ... I hope I have helped you.
@@lorenzoscoppolettilab4859 Yes thank you very much, i highly appreciate the advise :)
Great video! Very informative
Thanks!
Great work :)
Thanks!
Outstanding knife, back cove could have a better look, hey no one I know said the cove has to be circular, next make it square shaped, I’m a chef and I would use it proudly.
Polished blade but the rear looks like crapp…. 👎
Life and work are not always perfect, there are attempts, failures, trials, experiments. I've never said anywhere that I'm the best of all. This was the first attempt, in the following I improved the technique. If in addition to the criticisms you have some advice to share I would be happy. Good day
Please name some photosensitive emulsions, so we can purchase nearby
Hi, I wrote some information about the product in the description, in Italy we have many options, I don't know for the other countries. Search some website with serigraphy tools or product and you will find the emulsion. Have a good day
Hai provato a contattarli?
I’m a cook this knıve wonderful thnaks
Wasai..!!!
do you put mineral oil on first and then beeswax? or does the order matter?
Hi, I use an handmade mix with beeswak and mineral oil, I think this is the best way. The beeswax alone is to hard (especially in winter).
@@lorenzoscoppolettilab4859 I see, does the brand matter for either?
For the oil I use the "wood food" (found on Amazon), but I think any mineral oil is quite the same, just check if is food safe. For the beeswax i don't know, I have a friend who have bees and he give me the wax, and after I clean the wax many times with a cotton cloth (used like a filter). My English is far from perfect and I hope you understand something :)
Can you share plans please?
Hi, for this project I do not have plans, it's a very simple project and I work just by eye, but if you need plans I can make it for you
@@lorenzoscoppolettilab4859 I would love a set of plans for this. I will even make a video using your plans and crediting you for your design.
Hi, I will try to make some plans, but the dimension can change for the different size of hand plane..
Wow !!!
Thanks
What type of belt grinder is that?
Hi! It's an Italian brand call titangrinder, they have beautiful tools, and also for this grinder you can buy all the other weels or accessories (not very cheap but well built)
@@lorenzoscoppolettilab4859 Ciao, quale modello di titangrinder utilizzi? Ottimo lavoro ;)
Buona serata :)

Many thanks for sharing your method. I was searching for this and you put all the information here. Congratulations. Regards.
