Take on Me - 8-bit A-ha cover | from Last of us 2 | Pocket Operator PO128
Переглядів 3802 місяці тому
Hey everyone! I've just completed the Last of Us Part II. It has this acoustic version of Take on Me. I remember it from MTV Unplugged when A-ha did it. It's much more powerful and emotional than the original version. Anyway, here's my 8-bit reimagining of A-ha's classic played with Pocket Operator PO-128. I also imagined how would The Last of Us would look if it was an Old school platformer. T...

Deadpool Bye Bye Bye 8bit cover *NSYNC | Pocket Operator Po-128 | Deadpool & Wolverine
Переглядів 7 тис.3 місяці тому
Hey everyone! As a lifelong *NSYNC fan, I couldn't resist putting my own spin on 'Bye Bye Bye' using my trusty pocket operator po-128. This 8-bit cover takes us back to the good old days of bleepy-bloopy game sounds, and MTV when it didn't suck. You might've caught this classic tune in the new Deadpool & Wolverine, so I threw in some pixelated versions of our favorite antiheroes busting moves. ...

I made the track for the Pocket Operator Sample Challenge. All three tracks for sampling were jazz trios with lots of pianos. So, I decided to go Aphex Twin mode and created this experimental track with piano and loose drums.

Quavo & Takeoff - HOTEL LOBBY | EP133 REMIX | Old-school electro hip-hop
Переглядів 1,7 тис.5 місяців тому
What if you take an old-school electro hip hop with classic tr-808 drums and add a modern rap where 808 is only used for a low bass? Let's see. In this video, the Afrika Bambaataa type beat meets the modern flow of Quavo and Takeoff from Migos. #teenageengineering #SoundCloud on.soundcloud.com/j2Ajf

I'm the operator with my pocket calculator... ;)
🤖
the best 8 bit version of this song
🙌
This is hard 🔥
Thanks!
Fire!
Great job‼️❤ But how you can control kick in? Seem like Automatic DJ
It's a sequencer. So, the track is programmed and chained. But since they're only 16 patterns, I have to play some live overlay. 😁
Fire 😂🔥
Thanks 🙌
This shit is right my guy
Duuude. I love the dark vibe in this one. Great chords
Thanks! Accidentally discovered low bass dictated the vibe. :)
🔥🔥🔥
This is FIRE tho, love the 808 samples, this has a great early electro vibe
Well done! I dig it. I like how the pixel art accurately represents Seattle when I drive through it. 😅
😁
Sick beat ❤ how teenage engineering do you own?
4 overall: Pocket Operator PO-20 Arcade was the first one, then PO-128 MegaMan. And two samplers: PO-133 Street Fighter and EP133 K.O. II.
@@vmpixelmusic nice
Nice minimal track. I love the clicks, and the breakdown for the outro was great as well. Cool visualizer with Doc Ock 2.
🙌 thanks!
Had to subscribe ❤🔥
🙌
This just made me wanna get a pocket operator. Should I?
Oh, it's a lot of fun! I call it "happy accidents machine." I had no musical education and yet I can produce something people find interesting to listen to.
@@vmpixelmusic Thanks 😝😊
I love how goofy it looks and Deadpool acknowledging it.
Yep :)
Cleannn
Thanks 🙌
Sounds super good! Really cool version and you did it on a P.O.!!
Thanks! ✌️
Wow, nice job! I really like the Pocket Operators, and have a bunch of them, and it's fun seeing what they're capable of in the hands of talented musicians.
Thanks, mate! 🙌
This is beautiful. Everything I mean, the art, the music, the vibe. Its really nostalgic. I grew up playing Rockman (Megaman) series so this reminded me of those days, playing with those music, after school. Wonderful.
Thanks! 🙌
Really good!
Thanks! 🙌
Ik he didn't add that, but those jiggle physics at the start were crazy NGL bro 💀
What kind of cable are you running in the out of the 133? Just headphones or a line out to an interface? I've been looking or some good cables like that. Sounds amazing man!
Thanks! The cable is Candycord by Myvolts.
Где тысячи просмотров этого видео?

So freaking cool!
Thanks, mate! 🙌
I love the detail of Deadpool talking to the audience while you play the music. Fits him well 👍
He forced me to do it. And many other things I'm not proud of 😁
Amaaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzzing!
Thanks! 🙌
Always love watching these. So much fun with the animations and amazing talent too with those pocket operators
Thanks! 🙌
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 🔉🎵🎶🎵🎶💥❤🎯👌
🙌👍✌️
Dude!! This is so good. I love those 8bit drums, which kinda sound like the originals have just been massively bitcrushed. (Also, yay that the melodic one had the right key! ;) Do these just work like the scale pads on an MPC?) Oh, look, you finished and I'm still vocalising the progression. I think I might have to belt this out on sax to get it out of my system...
Thanks! 🙌 It sounds close enough to get a copyright issue :) To be honest, I don't know how MPC works :) PO128 allows you to play chromatically and select the root note for a scale.
@@vmpixelmusic oh no! It got claimed?
Yep, but it's alright. It's allowed to cover. So, they could have taken part in the profit from monetization, which I don't have anyway :)
Genuinely an absolute blast to watch and here. You are CRIMINALLY underrated
Thanks! 🫶
Fantastic cover as always, man. The animations are nice as well. Good stuff
Thanks, mate! 🙌
10 times on repeat and I still didn't swipe this short. It's awesome!!!!
Nice! 😁
This sounds so good! And I love the 8bit Deadpool dancing animation. 👏👏
Thanks! I spend many hours making it work. Worth it! :)
Hahaha, I think that must be the best one yet 😂
Thanks :)
Love it ❤
Plsss what instrument vives this high tone ???
Hard to tell. All of these are samples from Quincy Jones tracks. One - the main melody - is from "Love Me By My Name" And the flute-like sound is from "Superwoman" I hope, you'll find what you are looking for.
I would love to see more videos with the PO-133 (Street Fighter edition)! Thank You!
All I have so far is here: ua-cam.com/play/PLG4_y4XBqo5sfrgWDB5Azry6H4zKuFaVF.html&si=FUHLiM1FFVBs__N5
Awesome great job 👍 I own the PO 12 and 33, i have to check this one out
Thanks! PO 20 is fun. It has a unique feature with chords that you can sequence separately and lots of different chiptune sounds. However, you can't play on it like on PO12 or PO33. It kinda forces you to sequence everything and then just hit play.
@@vmpixelmusic i want it for the voice efx to get close to the kraftwerk speak and spell sound
@@djthrift6244 Oh, PO 20 can't do it. It's just a bunch of different 8bit sounds. You probably need PO 35 speak.
It sounds like if MF DOOM produced Humble by Kendrick Lamar (dope song btw)
Nice! The main piano riff was definitely inspired by Humble :)
Love the algorithm for sending me here. More creative than most music rn.
lol yeah right
It looks like Kim is swinging sausages
Sounds more trap then 90s hiphop tbh but still fire ...
Thanks! My fav part about making music is it triggers different emotions and associations in people. It doesn't really matter what I was trying to achieve as long as it resonates anyhow. 😄
Mate! This is so good!!!😮
Thanks, mate! 🙌
Haha, "we have Aphex Twin at home" is a joke one of my partners made when I showed her my first beat made out of samples! This went in a totally different direction than mine, but I really like the longer piano sample you used here.
@@kaitlyn__L One of your partners? I, too, enjoy my relationships like my synths, Poly.😅 You should upload your PO jam, yo. Peace from a bi unicorn
@@slowbro1337 that’s a great pun! Yeah, I’ve been poly for 12 years haha I don’t have any POs, just lots of experience with those tact switches on other devices (and my own projects from school!). This beat was made in Ableton :) though I’m considering making a second channel to shove my music on, as a counterpart to my underused SoundCloud.
@@kaitlyn__L Well, best to you n your partners! I am always happy to come across other poly peeps, especially ones that enjoy synths as well.😄 Most of my setups are dawless, but i have been using Fruity Loops as a primary DAW since FL7(got to love lifetime free updates) I've never had any knob issues over the years of use for my gear. That said, I don't play my gear with cheeto fingers or dirty hands, and try to keep them clean. A second channel is never a bad option tbh. Nice chatting and peace to Y'all. If you ever feel like sharing, I wouldn't mind listening. I got a hurricane about to hit me, and I need to find my sampler before it comes in to record the audio, peace haha
Thanks! It still feels hip-hoppy. I should change the drum packs to have more constraints :) Btw, would love to hear your music. 🎧
@@slowbro1337 recording storms is important! I will try to remember to come back to this to tell you when I finally get round to it, haha. I want to get the chords and melody down first, and a few variants of the rhythm, rather than posting a bare beat on its own :) The bare potentiometers are usually pretty resilient, the worst that would happen is they get a little mis-calibrated. But the tact switches often get debounce issues after a little dust or grease gets in. The cleanest hands still have a little dust! But I’m sure the communal switch bin I used had pretty tired ones, and maybe TE have really really good debounce code. You might not notice issues until they stop actuating at all, if they’re masking any bouncy switches. Which would be sensible to have done since they charge extra for the cases! As to DAWs, I can’t compose in them at all. I can’t even compose on paper, or any hardware sequencer. I just have to play my ideas 😅 the downsides of being “classically” (aka ensemble/orchestrally) trained! I’ve tried drum machines for rhythms, but get frustrated at the hoops to bring timing subtleties back in. Most of my rhythms I’ve played IRL (on a desk or guitar body with fingers, say, or in real-time over MIDI) and then tweaked after the fact (swapping sounds, nudging timing 1/128th beat at a time, etc). Usually vertically combining multiple original ideas into one beat as well. But of course that’s all subject to change, as I move from endless sketches and track segments into trying to make more finished pieces!
I need that case for all my pocket operators. I like its added glass protection. My PO Speaks screen took a hit, still plays, but cant see lol 😅 Nice little jam btw
Yep! The best cases ever. I love how they add stability and reliability to the beauty of pocket operators.
I like the fully-enclosed ones, because those tact switches can react pretty badly to skin oils and dust after a few years of heavy use. They're cheap and easy enough to replace if you can use a soldering iron, but still!
Love this Track! SOOOOO GOOD!
Thanks!
i want the case!
This is impresive! Is this like a calculator or something?
Thanks! It is a Pocket Operator. Tiny pocket synthesizer by Teenage Engineering.
that case is aweomse, where you get it?
I got it here dichstudios.com/

Yo this sum 90s memphis $hit fr🔥
Wow! That's a discovery! I have never heard 90s memphis, so it was not intentional. Need to check it! 😱
@@vmpixelmusic that’s crazy cuz I thought you took inspiration from Al Kapone, 8ball &mjg(these rappers are from Memphis).
