    Thanks for the guide, as I'm tossing up that route from Frankfurt to Berlin. Interesting the real source for the Grimm tales. There seem to be a disproportionate amount of evil stepmothers in those tales so perhaps the women were saying something about society at the time.

    Will be coming here in the next couple of weeks, yeah some of the neon stuff/shoulder pads were cringe not all of them. And on TV + pics in mags + when I went shopping people still wearing them! I know it is here till Sat 7th of Sep 😎 + as you said not all but some of them should be left in the past! But also in the 80's, you just has your regulars that would wear logo t-shirts, black/blue jeans + black/white Nike trainers as you know! Along with designer brands like: Moss Bros, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Lacoste, etc as you know + yeah a museum that size can't really tell the whole history from 1980-89! Do the both of you also like theme/waterparks??

    • @BreakawayBravehearts
      @BreakawayBravehearts Місяць тому

      Yes, we love waterparks, and theme parks - but only when they are done well. We are so much more careful about where we go now, because we have seen some negative impacts of over tourism and commercialisation. It would be great to do a review on a water/theme park to see how well it scores in terms of having benefit for the community and for the environment. Is there a good one you recommend in the area?

Ah Canterbury/Sandwich, I really like them parts of Kent 😀 I know/can obviously tell Justine is a Kiwi-I remember a friend of mine many years ago + he worked in a museum and thought she was Australian she wasn't impressed 😅 If this is you Justine, let me know if not if this is Darryl-where in England where you born/raised sounds from down south! I read on your website-2024 promises a whole new adventure. We're selling our house so we can buy our first ever a campervan! So after them 2 years then what will you do?? Hameln: The story of the rat catcher goes back to the 16th century (illustrations in Hamelin date back to 1592), so it were not the Brother's Grimm connecting the story of the lost children with the pied piper as a rat-catcher. The tale names the year 1284 for the events, which would be a bit late for the Children's Crusade of 1212 (starting from Cologne). There are however multiple hints for young settlers from the region of Hameln founding settlements in the regions of Prignitz and Uckermark in the state of Brandenburg from that time. So they migrated not to Eastern Europe, but only to the eastern border province of the German Kingdom (whose eastern border during the 13th century was nearly the same as nowadays).

    • @justinereadings

      Yes, that was our first thought too. But we couldn't see a well-like hole close by. Although the space directly in front could be a hole that's been covered in. And if the space was used by the military it is quite possible this area needed a water supply and this machine was used for that, so it does make sense.
