LIFE Danube Free Sky
Приєднався 10 лис 2020
LIFE Danube Free Sky is a transnational bird conservation project that connects 7 European countries (AT, SK, HU, HR, RS, BG, RO) and 15 project partners (energy companies, conservation organizations, national parks, and railway company).
The risk of power lines is still an underestimated reason for birds´ mortality. Its significant and serious impact on populations of endangered species is unknown and many times underrated. Preventing birds from collisions and electrocution is important to compensate other threats that the endangered species need to face. Only part of potentially dangerous lines is responsible for the majority of killed birds. It needs to be identified and treated with adequate measures - insulation of dangerous utility poles and installation of the flight diverters on the power lines to prevent electrocution and collisions of birds.
The LIFE Danube Free Sky (LIFE19 NAT/SK/001023) project has received funding from the LIFE Programme of the European Union.

96 utility poles insulated to prevent electrocution of birds
Переглядів 2321 день тому
On the International Day of Biodiversity, we introduce another short video from Croatia describing how we protect birds' biodiversity. Electric poles are a popular place for birds, especially birds of prey, to rest or hunt, as they have an excellent view from there. However, if a bird touches two wires on the pole at the same time when landing or taking off, an electric shock follows. Birds ele...
