Blackwater At 270cfs 12/29/24
Go big or go home for my last paddling day of 2024! This was my 3rd time paddling the Blackwater and I'm still nervous on it but I had a great run. 270cfs was a nice level and while I still don't know my way down this river I definitely had a better idea of how the moves went. Looking forward to getting to know the Blackwater better.

I ran the Upper and Lower Blackwater, this was my second time on this river. The first time the level was 310cfs, this time it was running at 245cfs. It was a bit manky at this level but was still a great time. Looking forward to getting to know this river a little better in the future, it is an incredible run!

I had a great weekend fishing the Lower Yough Loop and just under a foot. The actual level was .96 feet. This was my first time catching trout here, I always just catch smallmouth bass here even though I know there are a ton of trout here.

I ran the Lower Yough Loop at just under a foot for the first time. The actual level was .96 feet. It is low but goes just fine. There are some cool finesse moves at this level.
Misty Morning Upper Gauley 10/20/24
Переглядів 2062 місяці тому
I have wanted to run the Upper Gauley early in the morning while it was full of mist and fog for a long time, I finally did it on 10/20/24. Visibility was quite low on all the rapids until we got to Lost Paddle where the warming air temperature started to dissipate the fog. What an awesome experience, running Pillow without being able to see very much was wild!

Back on the Moshier section after 5 years. What a beautiful and fun river. Moshier Falls is always an impressive and challenging way to end the run!
Raquette - Day 2 - Beaverfest 2024
Переглядів 1944 місяці тому
This was my first time on the Raquette and it was definitely a step up run for me. I was quite nervous and my lines were not very clean but I handled it. I was too gripped on the first run to do a second lap but I look forward to getting on it again.
Bottom & Bottom Bottom Moose - Day 1 - Beaverfest 2024

Finally got back to Beaverfest, my first time here was 2019. The Moose was a good bit lower this year at 2.4 feet than the 3.1 feet we had in 2019 but I had a great run and a great time. Such a gorgeous river!
Fishing The Lower Yough Loop - 7/28/24
Переглядів 1325 місяців тому
I have started doing morning Lower Yough Loop laps on Sundays and fishing from my kayak. Fishing and whitewater combined, what a fun way to start the day! Why have I not tried this sooner? I caught 5 small mouth bass between the Falls and Railroad rapid.
Upper Yough - My First Full Slice Run 7/13/24
Переглядів 7155 місяців тому
I finally ran a full slice on the Upper Yough, I was in a Wavesport Ace 4.7. It was quite interesting, my buddy led me down as he runs a full slice all the time. The water level was 2.05 feet.

I got my PFD on the WFT. We got to the put in early so we could see the release hit the waterfall, man was that worth it. What an incredible experience! Apparently there was and extra release so it was 350cfs instead of 250cfs.
Great run! I bet that water was cold!
Great video :) May I ask which paddle that is? 😊
It is the Select Warrior 2 piece breakdown paddle, excellent paddle. Don at Highwater Hobbies in Bruceton Mills gets them in from France and sells them. I have 3 Select paddles and they are all great!
I’d love to get on that river sometime whenever I get good enough. It’d be cool to paddle with you Steve if I get up north sometime. Nice video! Looked beautiful out there!
Looks busy and challenging!
Sweeet❤
Sick!
Dang, you must have been nearly early enough for a second lap!
@@FF-bu4ze We did a second lap after this one.
Hello from Altay, Siberia ))) Ursul Kayak Fest 2024!
🥰😳😱🤯😵💫🤪
I do believe that is an Ace! I have the exact same colour...and another one because I like them so much. Both 4.7. I'll have to try the Yough one day.
Chris god damnit 😅😂😂😂😂
Never follow @christophercurley3999 If you do, be prepared to boof him ... Ask me how I know, LOL.
Nice! Beautiful in there
Agreed! What river?!?! Kinda looks like the Cartecay.
It is the Slippery Rock Creek North of Pittsburgh PA. Awesome little run!
Looks fun! What river?
It is the Slippery Rock Creek North of Pittsburgh PA. Awesome little run!
Nice boat work - instead of just blasting it and putting some captions in for effect
yall are crazy! is this up in Venango county? I'm trying to figure how to access it for fishing and I ran into this video.
This is in Venango County. It was a fun little run, it needed a little more water though.
Love watching your videos. I grew up around those parts. Had no interest in the water back then. Now I’m too old to be doing that…. But it sure is fun watching you guys do it.
WVA. ?
Near Johnstown PA.
That looks like a fun little run!
it really lives up to it'sname at 250
Dude, you're a fucking beast! Absolutely excellent PFD!
Great video and nice to see the lines - you did great! Super run!
Whole time you were down there running that stout water, I was up in the Smokehouse having a cheeseburger! lol
💕Wow🤍🤍🤍🤍💙🤍🤍
💕Wow💚💚💚💜💚💚💚
Really wish we could get scheduled releases on this from Mt Storm….it’s incredible and would be nice to plan trips on.
This made me wince multiple times thinking of the abuse that expensive boat was taking.
Looks fun🤘🏼
oh spring is here, that went fast haha
Nice creek, beautiful scenery but good when spring is slowly coming.
What do you wear under your drysuit to stay warm in this freezing water?
I wear a thin base layer shirt and pants, under armour type materials. A fleece layer over that, I use a Stolquist Bunny Suit. It is a full one piece fleece suit. Keeps me very warm, I am usually sweating a bit while paddling.
Thanks! I just upgraded to a drysuit and will use my old wetsuit just for the ocean surfing. Lots of kayakers in Oregon like to kayak in the winter and it would be nice to join them.@@stevenblades1681
5000 cfs?
wow, I wanted to do this back in the day. this has to be one of the best stretches of water in the state.
Wow. Outstanding video!!
this creek just looks fun to check out, not even rafting just go for a hike to see it.
Great run… I’d like to catch that one sometime.
Nice can't wait to get back out there
That looked like fun, to much for me with those big drops though. I could feel the water under my boat watching your video like I was there. Thank you so much for that memory.
😍🚣🏽🌊
you wouldn't catch me paddling that in a million years 😮
Is this the same as the "upper"? Do you mind sharing with me the gauge you use to check levels?
This is different from the Upper section, this is up river from the Upper. There is a gauge on American Whitewater that is in Oakland, MD which is up river from the put in. There is also the Hoyes gauge which is down river and close to the take out. You can find this gauge on the USGS website.
Send it
True. I wish I had never sold my RPM.
I still have my RPM too. Up until this, spring it was my primary boat. I just switched to the Dagger Rewind this year and the advantages of a modern Half Slice are huge but I do sometimes miss the RPM.
Interesting to see this. I would never have expected to see someone paddling an Outburst in 2023. I had one years ago, and it was long and stable, but there would seem to be more capable boats available now.
There are more capable boats out now but old boats like the Outburst and RPM are just so much fun!
stay safe, enjoy the water
I just did this yesterday. Loved every minute of it! ❤
Nice job on the vidoe and thanks for posting. Running this on the 22nd
So many stories about the Nolichucky. Got off one day after paddling it a flood, 15' high waves. At the takeout was taking a shower when a female kayaker came into the mens shower room and got into the shower behind me, then there was the time we carried a NOC instructor along the tracks, across the trestle and had a train sneak up on us. and then there was the hike up devils creek, just for starters.
ran this Sunday after GauleyFest. Fun. Before the invention of the GoPro. No pix.
