Cheers buddy i am actually sitting here booking ferry for trip to Europe next year, and its seems they measure height and length when it comes to the cost of the crossing, so it might be a good thing Mark, i know a fella who got his l1 H1 van on a ferry for the cost of a big Volvo estate. well see how this goes 😁

How far you on with your build Mark?

Hi Mark im 5 ft 6 buddy i can stand up in van with slight bend over, but comfortable, when i was fastening the roof battens which are 6mm it turns out that some people are just fasting the roof to actual metal beams . but i didnt like the the thought of that, 1 other thing to take into consideration, the floor. plywood thickness and the battens thickness , hope this helps buddy , what size are you?

yeah buddy this makes sense thanks for your input all the the electrics are a learning curve for me im for Europe at end of May for 12 weeks so i need to figure it all out before then..few we other things i need to get sorted also fridge and stuff but hopefully il get there..

cheers buddy, for what i got out of the few days away i was happy enough, weather wise, after getting home the next few days up there got hammered with heavy rains etc, i dont often get it right but i made the right call lol

Buddy sorry only getting back to you on this issue, im away in van at weekend, i ammm having one or 2 issues if im honest we will dig further into this, a couple of changes i have made i want to test out first...

buddy thats a standard memory foam mattress if you look you can see a yellow stain on the side, i brought this for my son he spilled lucazade on it after 3 days and i refused to throw it out, i kept it with the van in mind, its a full size double bed with standard double mattress buddy...

@IrishDanInAVan damn Right I wouldn't be throwing it out Thanks for reply Not many people think about the lithium batterys catching fire 🔥 Just make sure you have a way for quick removal or maybe some really good fire retardant material around them just to be on the safe side ..

Found a tiny bit of rust buddy behind sliding door rail, major problems trying to get the correct shade of white, as you will see in a upcoming video..

buddy i used these to screw the tongue and groove to the roof of the van, with a good beading of sikoflex,

@@IrishDanInAVan You could go straight into the steel, but you have a high enough roof so that's fine..

@@allanb52 buddy i didnt like the idea of just going straight into the metal, i thought it best to have something there, hopefully i made the right call, have you yours done buddy 100% finished, or is the old saying true the van build is never done lol

@@IrishDanInAVan No big deal mate, I went straight into steel but mine is not a high top and is just high enough to sit upright. I built mine 9 years ago and only minor mods since. 300 nights later it's great, been all over Europe in my 40mpg Vivaro. Anyone who builds there own camper is great in my books, so well done.

Terence i tried that method of doing it, the problem was picking the right stain, iv a load of different testing pots here just could get the right colour that i was completely happy with..

some folk have a problem understanding me buddy lol 🤣

mate that 123 bulls eye is some gear yes its a bit expensive buddy i would rather do it right the first time, how far are you with your build?
