One of 4 runs down BZ to Husum over a few days. 3 of those runs were in the Indra.

This was more of a scenic paddle with plenty of wildlife to check out, rather than a great boating experience. I tried to make it as fun as possible.

My second run of the St. Joe. This time in the Flow. I used the Max Lens 2.0 on the GoPro for the first time. Unfortunately, I got some sunscreen on the lens, but got it cleaned up while we took a break. This river would be so much better with more water!

This was my second time on this run. My first time on it was 2 years ago and the water was almost 2’ higher. It’s much better at higher flows, but it was still a fun day.

This was my first time on the Hood. I loved it! Having a bit more water would have been perfect.

This was the first time down Ruby Creek for all but 1 or 2 people in the group. What an awesome run!

which type of kayak you have?
@@lasocietadellinconscio In this video, it’s a Dagger Code.
Where do you put in for this amazing run? It is pristine.
BZ Corner
Are you running other stuff in that area? If liked the NF St Joe abd the lower run on the main St. Joe. I also got to run Shit Creek, though not through the tunnel.
The NF St. Joe was too low, as were most things in the area.
Beautyful river
It has quickly become my favorite river in the Skykomish drainage.
Diggin the boat color scheme!
Rock!
Just a few! 🪨
Is that an Indra? It appears the bow bobbles about like the Code. Curious.
No, this was a Code. Indra videos coming soon though!
Looks like a great run. Are you in a Flow by chance?
It was pretty awesome! I can’t wait to go back and do it again. I’m also wanting to do the Dee to Tucker stretch at some point. Yes, I’m paddling a Flow in this video. It’s such a good boat!
@@bur-vista Nice! I haven’t done this section, but IK’d Dee to Tucker a few times. It’s a wonderful run. I need to have a more reliable combat roll before trying that one in my hardshell. The Flow looks interesting, but I’ve yet to see one in person.
@@chrispaine2265 I want to do Dee to Tucker at some point. It looks like a good run. Keep working on that roll. We all need to practice it. Hope you can run it in your hardshell. I've only seen a couple other Flows in the NW. I was never a fan of Jackson boats until the Flow.
Beautiful, where did you shoot this? Is it a hike in?
It’s a beautiful area! It was from one of the pull outs along the highway and I hiked a short distance. I made the drone do most of the work.
Magic when the weather is right.
awesome!!!!
What time of year/flow was this?
Late June. The Tat was just below flood stage when we put on.
Awesome video! Is this considered high water? I'm doing it a couple of weeks earlier this year and am trying to get a sense of what it will be like :)
Thanks! Yes, this was a little below flood stage. Have fun and be safe!
INCREDIBLE VIDEO!
Wouldn't you love to have this run in your back yard?
I sure would!
Love it!!
That looks fun! I never got to run the Pitua but I did run the Anzu. It's less busy but has some tough rapids.
I'll hopefully do Anzu next year.
@@bur-vista we had a long (easy) hike in on the Middle Anzu. The bigger rapids were great. One required some fast choices, and one required a big power move.
Noice!
You took out at that bridge. Was there a cow pasture you had to climb up to get to the road? I swear there was a big boulder-choked rapid a mile or two above our takeout, and we had to portage it because the run was too tight. The portage on the left was annoying. Could high flows have cleaned up the rapid (I did run this 10 years ago)?
There was a small pasture between the bridge and the road. You could have gone further down? Rivers in Ecuador are constantly changing. Revueltos Gringos on the Quijos changed twice since last November.
That's a fun run except for the portage and that long takeout. I ran it with a bit more water. We originally planned to run the Lower, but it was too high for my comfort.
It was fun. We didn't have a portage on this run. I ran it again the following week with more water. That video will be posted within a week or two.
@bur-vista Maybe there's a new takeout above where I took out. There was a class V rapid that we couldn't run and a hard class III that I didn't see at the end of your video.
@@davidcelliott That must be lower down. We only did about a 2 mile stretch.
Nice :)
That is an ENCHANTING place! I've paddled rivers and creeks in the SE, but this place has an intimate quality that is sublime. And, it looks like a movie scene from a Hobbit movie.
Really great documentation of the trip and the fantastic landscape. Thank you for sharing!!!
Geniale Landschaft!
Very impressive, great shots! Which camera did you use? I'm looking forward to 2024, then I'll be there too! Greetings from Germany Udo
Thanks! GoPro 10. You'll love it! I really enjoyed that trip.
Kind of bummed I didn't see the bottom drop at the end of the canyon.
It either didn't turn out very well on video, or I didn't film it because I was busy helping row. I'm not sure since it was well over a year ago.
Very beautiful the mountains always been on of the most pretty places in oregon
The Pacific Northwest is such a beautiful part of the U.S.
I ran the Tat 37 years ago, it was quite an adventure! Beautiful video.
That’s awesome that you ran it. The glaciers were much bigger back then. The Tat and Alsek are so beautiful! I’m glad you enjoyed the video.
Looks closer to 1750 cfs 🤷
I doublechecked that what I had in my river log was correct. The average for April 24, 2022 was 772 CFS. It was 750 when I checked it at the takeout.
Thats quite a river. The rocks and the swift water looks like alot to handle. THE MUSIC , 😂❤ I almost felt like I was in the craft with you getting sea sick .lol Do you need to stop and take breaks often. Oh man, over half thru the video it starting looking real fast and dangerous. Praying 🙏 your angels are with you. How EXCITING 😂
It's a really fun section of the Green. I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. We do stop in eddys to take breaks and to see what's coming up next. We also stop for lunch halfway through usually.
That's a nice flow for that run. Good run great video!
It was the highest I've done it at. It was a blast!
Nice job! Those low flows are pretty rocky. I prefer around double that in my IK and triple for the catboat.
Thanks! Yes, I would have preferred more water, but it was still really fun.
Where’s this at?
The Green river in Washington.
Where did you put in and take out for these runs? I'm assuming this is the section above the swimming pool access, because old people run the section below... 😂
We put in at several different spots over the 2 weeks I was there, and always used the same take out. This run started at Cotundo.
Looks like you had a better run than the first time on this river.
It was a much better run!
Have you guys done the section above Mckenna? I was able to access it years back but doesn't seem like the road is much there anymore. I know the Nisqually land trust is public accessible, but was not sure if you may have some insight on that as that whole section was Class II. TIA, Great video
I have not done anything above McKenna Park, so I don’t have any insight on the river or access above that. That’s pretty neat that you were able to get out there and run it previously. It’s a beautiful river. McKenna Park to Nisqually Park is really fun at higher flows. Much higher than it was on this trip. I have a more recent video where it was around 3500 CFS and it was a lot of fun! I’m glad that you enjoyed this video.
*Twin Peaks theme intensifies* This looks like an amazing (and frigid) time. Impressed!
It was an amazing time, but I stayed nice and warm in my drysuit and gear.
damnit i wanted to see that person get out back on there boat they good?
It was the last rapid of the run, so there was no reason to get back in the boat. She was good. I helped get her off the river while others worked on recovering the boat and paddle. All good.
Hi! Friend of Katheryn Durkee’s here. Nice video! How did you get you tube to upload 2160 video quality! I’m shooting in 4K and only get 1080p for uploads.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I upload through the phone app, but you need to go into the settings and change the upload quality to full quality. It was 1080p by default when I first started uploading videos that way. I don't think there's a setting on the web version. It should upload full quality, but then it takes quite awhile for it to fully process into 4K.
I went down at once with my boyfriend
It’s a fun run!
Whats with the dramatic music? Is this what you listen to while on the river?
Would you prefer opera or classical music on the next video? 😊
@@bur-vista How about something we cant hear sitting in our car or living room... the sounds of nature. Why do people feel the need to put in music at all?
Hey I like the music
Hell honestly I'd like to hear AC/DC
@@karaholladay1457 That'd be fun!
Great video
Thanks!
🤗 ρ尺oΜ𝐎ᔕᗰ
Thank you. Puts me right there again <3
You're welcome. It's nice to go back there for a bit through these videos.
Some amazing scenery in the canyon
It’s gorgeous through the narrows!
Man looks fun which bridge did you start at? All the way to Copper Creek Takeout?
It was a blast! That was my second time on the Cispus, and I loved it! We put in about a mile east of Iron Creek CG on NF-76. We went all the way to Copper Creek, but I forgot to reformat my SD card from a previous river, so I ran out of room. That's why the video ends during a rapid. I have another video from April 1 that highlights the whole run and was 400 CFS higher.
It was the first time I'd ever been kayaking on a river in my do it now kayak
which trail head did you guys started? i am planning in November 25 true 29th, and i was thinking start from Pete lake trail head, hike to Waptus pass and to Waptus lake and stay night there, after hike to Spade and 2night there, and 3rd night at Venus..come down to Pete lake and stay 4th night and 5th day return to cars..what do you think this plan?
Quite a variety of conditions from heavy forest to rocky ledges. Surprised out of 96 views no one has asked about more details about he Ice Caves. Were they deep into the rocks and how treacherous to explore?
Completed this trail about the same time as you uploaded your video. Such a beautiful capture of this hike.
Hello fellow backpacker! Thanks so much for this great video. This was a trek that was in the running for this coming summer. Your vid just sealed the deal. It looks spectacular. Happy hiking!
