Bill Clinton on The Johnny Carson Show 1988
Переглядів 50 тис.6 років тому
Since Craig wants to whine in the comments because his wife left him there was never a Jonny Carson show it's called The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Very important given the fact that we're in a global pandemic but still :)

I did not have sex with that woman, Hillary did & I watched!!! We get hung up on & focus too much on charisma & not enough on what matters which are agendas & policies. Example: Carter was a nice guy with a nice smile but was a weak & ineffectual leader. We gotta learn to focus on what REALLY matters. You might not like Trumps demeanor but he is a strong & effectual leader when it comes to policies. He did make America respectable on the world stage again. The dictators feared & respected him , they were on their best behavior. Not like now, they're all running crazy & we now have all these wars going on that we didn't before with these complicit, weak leaders we have now. People don't know what the Number 1 job of the prez is, mandated by the constitution & oath: PROTECT, PROTECT, PROTECT THE BORDERS!!!! And THAT'S an ORDER!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bill Clinton was a fan of President Kennedy; as a young man, he even met him. He shared an admirable quality with JFK: the ability to laugh at yourself. As Johnny Carson pointed out, not every politician has it. (The Dukakis staff approved every word of that speech, but Clinton didn’t blame them.) Clinton handled this like a TV professional, which Carson appreciated. The musical interlude was an added bonus. And Carson was superb at building that kind of rapport with his guests. Thanks for posting this; I remember seeing it. By the way, Bill Clinton was the Democratic nominee four years later. He began his acceptance speech by appreciating the chance to come back and “finish that speech I started four years ago.”

In the latter part of his tenure on The Tonight Show Johnny Carson avoided having politicians on the show but for some reason he liked Bill Clinton . hence this appearance . Although Carson himself was a moderate Republican who liked Ronald Reagan . Summertime from Porgy and Bess by George Gershwin .

You cut out the best part at the beginning. Johnny had what was probably the longest intro to a guest in the history of the show. He took his sweet time introducing Clinton before bringing him out. He was doing that deliberately as a funny bit. The audience was even growing restless, waiting for Clinton to come out, even going as far as chanting "we want Bill". That explains the hourglass. It was like "I don't want to take up any more time than I already had, so I am going to use the hourglass". Johnny was the best host!

Say what you will, Clinton did a wonderful job with the economy and in other areas. When he left office, this country had a surplus instead of being in debt, as we are now. I miss him. Yes, he did some things I don't approve of, but as a leader, he was outstanding.

  • @nick56677

Bill was a good president. This is coming from someone who is a centrist. He had the country on the right path, the economy was set for the future, we had a long period of growth and peacetime. He is a major factor as to why the 90s were so good tbh. What the man does in his private life isnt anyones business but the parties personally involved

And he actually worked across the isle, there was a Republican majority with Newt as Speaker, and a lot got done. It's too bad Arafat had to be rotten and ruin any chance of Middle East peace... which is far in the rearview mirror now.

Why did whoever posted this video cut out the best part????? The long, long introduction by Johnny (spoofing Clinton's long, long blabbery speech at the DNC). Why do you think they were all laughing so hard when Clinton walked in? And what's with the audio. Good grief.

The problem I have with morons who create UA-cam channels then proceed to violate the terms under which they agreed to follow is, the blatant stupidity in violating copyright law by altering/changing title and content. How stupid do you have to be to not know that there never was, The Johnny Carson Show? It is and always has been the property of NBC known as The Tonight Show. It started with Steve Allen then Jack Paar then Johnny Carson. The title is, The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. You are also violating the copyright of the Carson Estate by rebroadcasting with the permission of the Carson Estate. Accordingly, this channel has been reported for copyright infringement.
