How long did it take to see compost?
I started it in the summer and it was very hot in the bag.. was seeing breakdown in just short weeks... ready to use compost idk...as it turn winter...so I will follow up in the spring
Hi! It's great to see this video up for help and I'm happy that I can use 2x6's for the base (since I have them already). Are the concrete anchors at the bottom necessary (any concerns if I don't put them in (Iive in PNW)? Also have you had any issues with rodents getting in? Debating if I should cover the bottom with hardware cloth or take any preventative measures? Do you recommend caulking to retain heat/ protect the greenhouse from weather damage (the polycarbonate panels look cheaper and I wonder if it will begin to deteriorate in coming years)? Thanks!
All great questions...anchors no not necessary. Rodents yes chipmunks mostly.. but because I left door open in summer....tunneling is always a concern for sure. And yes the panels do deteriorate is few short years and become brittle. I never caulked, as I like to remove panels for air flow but I don't see an issue with it
@@creationsbydx Thank you!!
I always wash the berries first and let them dry completely (usually 2-3 hours) before i store them in a glass jar with the two part lid so I know I’m getting a tight seal. I add a paper towel. They last so much longer!! Every several days, I change the paper towel.
Great advice
Can you tell me how long is the box it come ls in? Will it fit in a town and country mini van with all the seats down?
I honestly can't remember my guess would be about 6 ft. And there are 2 boxes extremely heavy. So probably would fit, but probably would have to strap down the tailgate
I was thinking of buying one but now I have second thoughts. Thank you so much for making the video.
You are welcome thank you for watching. I know there is a lot you can do to improve the experience, but in my opinion it should be a plug and play for the cost lol
It is loud
Thank you so much for this video. Clarifies so many steps that I just scratched my head on. I have the 10x16 but directions are the same. 😊
Lol yea all of these greenhouses are confusing for sure. Thank you for watching! Hope you enjoy yours.
Her overbite shows she's not a reliable source especially since the plastic container was not a well made one and the glass was 🙄😅
This is a very confusing comment but thanks for watching
If U R trying to duplicate the experiment from Cross she washed all her produce
Great video! I'm going to buy this GH in a couple of days Curious to know if you get any leaks from the roof? I'm thinking about either siliconing or using a sealing tape on the roofing panels.
No leaks in the roof but not a bad idea wind has ripped my roof panels off few times now
Good job on your video found while searching for reviews of the nearly identical Sharper Image Grow Light Garden. My guess is I have a model that replaced yours and possibly yours was clearanced for this new model to be sold. I never got so far as to add water but in checking power to unit noticed very loud although could be less after water added. Got mine TJMaxx for $40 and also saw it at Ollie's Bargain Outlet for $30 last year. I questioned the worth of it and judge trying to decide if it will last me for several lettuce, kale or spinach crops. My thoughts are the light has to last long enough to recoup the price of unit before needing to buy a new light bulb. However, you have a better understanding of growing & maybe I have it all wrong when the true benefit could be no pesticides used. Any recollection of whether I could expect to find replacement light bulbs in the future?
thanks. you shared the instructions which i wanted to see.
Your welcome thanks for watching
Am I missing something, or does that support leg only support the end boards and not the side boards?
Technically it supports the joint.
The best step-by-step video by far. Thank you!!!
Very glad we could help. Thank you for watching
I have nothing but terrible luck with any kind of seed. I have upwards of 50 plants but none from seed.😢
Very sorry to hear that. I would try different soil. And don't grow multiple together stick with just starting tomatoes or peppers etc
Send it to me and I will put it in the garage.
I returned mine lol
Thanks to your video I was able to order my missing bolts and nuts I am very appreciative !!
Very happy to hear we could help. Hope they come quickly for you.
Three years later... How has it held up?
It held up well. Panels became brittle due to sun damage, but unless u are removing them they are fine. Nice greenhouse for the money.
Nice video, what kinda adapter you using?
Love this idea! Can you keep it in a window for light instead of using a grow light?
Yes...keep close eye on it may cause additional concerns for mold
It only cost $80 to have Home Depot deliver a pallet of cinder blocks to a ladie's house in another video.
Wow... that's a great price
In MA… the cinder block is $2.53 😵💫
Wow! Feels like that has gone up
I have done my best to follow your video and I'm sure your instructions are great however one very big problem, every time you make a critical point it cannot be followed/seen at all because either your body is in the way of the camera preventing us to see what you are showing, the camera is pointing chest level while you are describing things at ground level, or finally you have camouflage carrot top greenery blocking the view. We gave up watching this. Please FYI be aware of the camera at all times to ensure it has a clear view to what you are trying to explain. Thanks!
Sorry about that thanks for the comment
Thank you for the video
Your welcome thanks for watching.
Uuuuggggg…. Good instructions but horrible camera work and what in the world is up with the final moments of the door installation where the audio is completely in audible because of the music?
Well very sorry about the camera work. And youtube reedited the video at the end due to music restrictions sorry about that. Thanks for watching
Thanks for making the video because I was not understanding the printed instructions at all. Thank you again.
Your welcome thanks for watching
That’s nice but it’s a bit shallow, might need to make it deeper, depending on what you plan to grow.
Very good point. I have grown lots of different things in it though. From peppers to tomatoes, different greens, even strawberries.
I swear my sakura took like a year after fridge germination to sprout, but has been growing strong and steady since. I wonder what it’ll look like after another year!
That's amazing!
A properly constructed concrete bed will last forever and not fall apart like yours. It is a lot of work before the first block is laid though.
That's fair... I did not do any sort of leveling or prep work with that one. Despite that I got another season out of it with no issues
How does replanting work with fall pruning? I live in Michigan, so should I wait till Spring to prune for replanting the clippings?
They are pretty resilient. They may take, but yes it would be best to do spring prune and plant at this point as in Mi we are already having frost.
Can I dig up a plant and put it in a pot inside?
Yes you can. Be careful, transplants can go in shock easy usually takes 2 weeks to settle. Best to leave in same conditions once transplanted and then move inside. But if u don't have time due to frost just monitor it
Where can I find this
@@OgToadRibbit the Fanta or the ice cubes lol
I found both at Walmart
Excellent video!
Thank you for watching
Did you put the mosquito attractant packets in it?
No I did not put anything in it at all
I use row covers when the plants are new. If you get parthenocarpic cucumbers they don’t need pollination and you can keep the row covers on all year. I may try them next year. Also, try county fair cucumber plants that are resistant to wilt. Also, plant radishes at the base of your cucumber plants. The beetles don’t like them. Also make sure to mulch the base of your plant. And try the yellow sticky traps to trap them.
Great tips thanks
Reviewing lights but you don't even know how to grow sounds like it's bs to me
Use cedar, it's naturally rot-resistant. I built mine 10 years ago--no rot.
Although this is good method for killing weeds you should be advised that is can also sterilize the soil and won't allow anything to grow much of after that.
Not a bad thing for drive way cracks at least
@stevexracer4309 thanks
I tried a ground cherry. Three failed starts😮 but now I have two really nice plants. They taste like a pineapple, sortof.😊 I've started a few trees from seed. So far Lemon, apple, pear, avocado and date palm. I still have the date palm, pear and apple BUT, found out that the apple and pear are only the root stock. So, so far we've bought two pear trees and I tried to graft a branch onto my two pear stocks. One of them took. Boy has it grown fast since the Spring. Maybe you just need to buy an actual tree and graft a branch from it onto your plants that you grew from seed? Still debating whether to buy an apple tree so I can graft a branch onto the apple stock. I started this cause I was curious now I'm hooked!😅
That's how it's always been for me too curious and hooked lol. Sounds like your having fun that's all that matters
Hi, it's Sept 2024 right now. My single seed challenge had a really poor start. But I learned why. Ground cherries need a lot of heat to germinate. Now I have two very big plants in repurposed blue boxes😮. Love these challenges. Next year the two people I've been following, Chad at down home backyard gardening and Brian at next level gardening are doing an okra challenge. Hopr to see you there😊🇨🇦🙏
Nice thank you
Chocolate? Like brown colored or the taste?
Sadly they were basil seeds in the package so I'll never know lol
My Rose of Sharon look more like trees with one main trunk. Some have white flowers, the other two have pink and then purple. But the shape is the same. Was hoping to shorten some that are dropping seeds into the neighbor's back lawn. I wondered if topping it off would make it bushier because the are very few lower branches.
Yes it can
Thanks for asking that exact question I had! Mine is like a tree. But want the bush look!
@creationsbydx thank you so much.
I find waiting to wash them when eaten or take the time to dry them first or they get soggy or new fav, paper towel the jar with as little touching contamination as possible. But also want to know if there are any fruits or veggies that shouldnt be canning jar'd (needing to breath i assume) and why don't they come in a jar and cleaned. That being said im bad with follow threw but great with ideas so if someone motivated or with funding "can" take the idea to buisness i know it would be popular then for the good karma start a horoscope jars with your fortune behind each jars lable business and dont forget to bring me in on it plz😅
Thank you!!!!! I got to the corners #7 with #49 and could not figure out which bolt went where. I took a lot of notes, time stamps screenshots to help me and saved your video to help me with the rest of the build. My foundation is 2x6 pressure treated 4x4 in the corners and pea gravel. Other videos I've seen used metal tape clear caulking and self tapping metal screws. Because it gets super windy here I will be doing this. I think the comment about explaining over the music is towards the end. I had to skip over that part the music was loud and you didnt explain anything.
That makes sense thanks. Had to have youtube over write a part due to music write probably messed it up I'll check iT out
I’ve had one for 2 yrs , don’t waste your money. Months primarily are captured. For mosquitoes get what’s tried and true. Foggers work best or anything that creates smoke. This thing alone absolutely does not work on mosquitoes
Yea I got the 1 arce version at a garage sale this year....still no improvement sadly
I bought the HF 10 x12 in May 2023, and was hesitant about the build. When I came across your video, it gave me the confidence to start the construction. I am now assembling the doors and share your frustration. Thank you so much for doing this step by step video. It provided all the essential highlights. I will post some of my pics and short clips when done. My goal is to put in a controlled Hydroponic space by end of 2024. Thank you again!
Your very welcome ty for watching. I thought about doing hydroponics in there as well. Let me know how it goes
Really appreciate the close ups with enough time to remember how things were put together, absolutely no way I could have figured out those ridiculous so called instructions. Thanks for your help.
Your welcome thanks for watching
As a rule of thumb, there is as much root underground as there is plant above ground. So if you want to grow a 3’ tall tomato plant you’ll need a 3’ deep planter
@HorseLuvr101 I understand you logic but roots don't just go straight down the spread out too
Sorry but this is a misconception. Roots like to spread horizontally, and they like to stay near the surface because they need oxygen
Good information but you talk too much.
@@johnsteed265 thanks for the tip
@@creationsbydxI don't think you actually talk too much. I think for me it's waiting for the break for breath. I tend to get in sync with whoever is talking and get stressed if there are not enough breaks in between sentences. Only really noticed it after I had a concussion that grew into post concussion syndrome. So I think just getting some silent breaks in there would be good👍😊❤🇨🇦🙏
@wendyburston3132 thank you
Great video, do those cinder block, raised, garden bed need drainage?
Thank you so much, it is exactly what I needed to know!
