Great idea - why hasn't it been done before ?? I want to see a working version. Not sure how expensive it would be but can't be that much compared to building an entire arena elsewhere
It has been done before and still is in use. The Alamo Dome in San Antonio experimented with this along with several NCAA stadiums such as the Kibbie Dome in Idaho, Syracuse Dome, to mention more. With the sports market (speaking for the United States IMO) it is half in half out. Who would sit in an enclosed stadium with that poor of a site line shown above? You enclose both ends and what you have enclosed curtains with no seats at the end? Better to build separate structures with specifications than one multi-.purpose that cheats fans out of quality for the sake of saving a dollar especially seeing how high ticket prices are or events these days.

What is it with Burnley FC and grandiose building projects? The existing Cricket Field Stand had ludicrously expensive "central heating" that was used once... this will be an even bigger white elephant. Turf Moor should not be used as a test bed. Burnley is not the ideal town and in that case the Turf has notoriously poor access even by Burnley standards. I love the club and the town but this will turn us into a laughing stock. Please do not do it for the sake of the future of our beloved BFC.
