Why did they do acts the Same way when they said they thought he was a god and the John 8 58 is not IAM sir it’s before Abraham was I excited it’s got nothing to do with exodus 3 15 that Yehovah talking and if you check what he said I means he becauses to become not the iam so John 1 v 1 c is a god or divine not God sir

Thanks very much for this explanation! It helped me get a better grasp on the interplay of tense and aspect. Just finished Ch. 4 of Beginning With N.T. Greek, and felt overwhelmed trying to put it together.

εὐχαριστῶ σοι ὦ ἔνδοξε διδάσκαλε· Thank you so much for your videos. The Textual Criticism videos are so helpful. I must point out ἁμαρτία σου however... at 7 minutes 15 seconds you erroneously said 1 John 1 says in present tense (vs 10) "if you say you do not sin, you are a liar" but it is in past tense (perfect) and hence why 6 verses later John says whoever claims to be in Jesus must walk as He walked. Ch 3 verses 3 to 10 distinguishes the children of God verses the devil saying those sinning are of the devil and those that do not sin are born of God. We don't have to sin daily as the epistles warn us. Hebrews 10:26 if we willingly keep sinning we become enemies of God and are destined for raging 🔥. John 8 Jesus says if the son sets you free from sin, you will truly be free from sin.

I know this is an old comment, but in 1 John chapter 1 verse 8, it is in the present tense, saying that if we say we have no sin, then we deceive ourselves. The one who is born of God does not sin, but the old man does sin. I would think that you would be able to recognize from Scripture as a whole that a Christian has been born twice, and so is at war with themselves. Total sanctification is an old lie told by those who are self-deceived. I would recommend studying your Greek more closely.

interesting that you posted this four years ago, and I see within the past year you've gotten some comments! Last night, I though to myself, "I really need to dig deeper into Greek and to understand the textual apparatus." Here I am! I will probably watch the other videos as well, so thank you! I still need to figure out which manuscripts are the best.

This is great. I have a question though. You said "A is high, B is low" (confidence level) "so B is pretty confident". I imagine you did not mean to imply B is low confidence, but that A is "almost certain/highest confidence" whereas B is "reasonable/pretty confident" at a slightly less level of confidence, but not the lowest. Is that correct?

I listened again to make sure what I had said. "A is high, D is low, so B ..." If I had said B, then your interpretation would have been correct. Glad this helps. Blessings to you.

Hi David, Thanks foR these info.i apreciate the effort. Could you please help me,Im not a textual critic but i do know some greek and i sometimes go to nestle-aland free version (available online) to check .Today i was checking 28 edition of 1 Peter 2:9-12 and i noticed a simbols * and smaller letters of the verses following(or preceeding?) '*' .Can you please explain the meaning of * and why are there smaller letters?Is that indicating varriants or what,coz online version of edition28 dont have any explanation for these things.You dont have to explain all the details just a general reason foR the star and smaller letters of this online edition(i dont even know if these different letters and '*' even exist in an actual edition 28 or is present just in online version but im sure you'll know what is My unexpert question is all about 😊). thanks

This is very useful. I use olive tree. I have the UBS 4, NA28 With critical apparatus, mounce parsing and the other apparatus & parsing. I downloaded a cheat sheet but it wasn't very helpful. Now it all makes sense, the cheat sheet is now useful! Thank you!
