Spirit of the North - Joe Paulik
Written by Joe Paulik 1987. Inspired by the legend of John Beargrease.
Lyrics:
The spirit of the north lives on, on until this day
The legend of a Beargrease John has given us a name
That speaks of northwest winds and frozen lakes and rivers
And snowy wooded hills oh hey hey hey
Musher's words were often heard and howling of the wolves
Moonrise over pristine lakes and wildcat's scream a'shrill
He came to understand and love the land he drove through
I pray that we can still oh hey hey hey
In his name a race is run excitement fills the air
Funny how a single man could cause here such a stir
But the spirit of the north was in his life's blood
And the land was in his heart oh hey hey hey an Ojibwa
Dogsled on the move I feel the calling of the wild
I see a tiny campfire burning deep within the pines
The voice within me cries
Get out and feel the heartbeat of a January night

Song of the Country - Joe Paulik
Переглядів 164День тому
Written by Joe Paulik in 1987. Song of the Country is really about the "Wilderness Mind" which Tom Brown Jr. expounds upon in his book "The Quest". The Quest was published after this song was written. Thus, when I recorded a studio version in 2001 for the album "Callings", I rewrote the second chorus to illustrate bringing the wilderness mind back to society.

Written by Joe Paulik. Music 1985. Lyrics were later inspired by lessons learned at the Tracker School Philosophy class. Lyrics: Tryin to find a way to heal a dying nation we got an ocean of conditioned patterns to discard It's like tryin to fix a giant Oak tree that's blow'd over in a storm It's like learnin how to drive without no car My my my it might be hard Lookin for a pure and active med...

Bloodred Skies/No One Left - Joe Paulik

If memory serves, most of this was written in 1987. I had recurring dreams or waking visions as a child in the early 70s of flying or jumping endlessly from the top of one skyscraper to another. There were zero people left living in the city below. My chosen flying partner and I were the only ones left. Bloodred Skies, the instrumental intro to No One Left, received its own name after reading a...

Wow... I'm crying
This cover was what made me decide to learn guitar and sing. This was back in 2019 now. Still one of my favorite songs to play and I often come back to your cover here. Thank you.
The “setting”, the playing, the voicing, the whole package. A great contribution to us music freaks. Thank You So Much for taking the time to share. A setting as such is “more than lay-back”. Much appreciated 🙏😍🤠
Sweet
I'm going to do the laundry?
The best intro in a music video i have seen
Thanks. Yeah, fate offered some humor at my expense.
I watched two of Gordon Lightfoot's live recordings of this song for the first time today. One from the late 1960's and another one in Vegas when he was much older. Obviously very moving, what talent he had. Joe's rendition is an awesome cover! By slowing down the tempo just a bit, the tension and hurried pace of the original is filtered out and the words are clear and unequivocal, the occasional shift in intonation accentuates the emotion - great voice, great delivery...You are a great artist. I hope you are still playing and maybe making your own music.
I appreciate that comment
Priceless Beginning..."What did she say?" "I can't remember...She gave me a piece of mail." Now there's a Song, and a Story, just waiting for the traveling minstrel to Spin his Gold'n spool of glitterin' yarn. Blessings
Blessings back to you OneTrueBrother. After listening again this morning I wish I had turned up the vocal slightly and reduced the reverb. Oh well, my hope is to remix it for an eventual DVD. At that time the sound'll get fine tuned and appropriate video added.
The time for Ascension is upon us. Just surrender. 🤍
You do this wonderful song justice. Thank you.
Luv Your Song, Brother...and the whistlin', Melody, wee Elf Water'bearer 'Wolf.' That is Magical 'Life.'
Is this a duet because it looks like he is playing chords in this video & another guitar is playing the melody?
No I'm picking the individual notes between strums. I missed a few but not too many. Thanks for your comment.
Super nice job.
I do wanna hear, all your little fears, the same time you ignore the sound of thunder. -- listen for a healing place
Yeah the preventive healing place: "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure".
Passion...Story, reminiscent of Dylan, with Deep Sea'Song Love, GOD BLESS...
Thank you Joe!! That was great! And i have to say that your version of song for a winter's night is really nice!! Sitting on that front porch of that cabin is the best...
Nicely done
You are awesome. I used to paint with your mom. Love her paintings.
Did you grow up in Oshkosh?
@@joepaulik8793 No Berlin. Knew your mom from painting and mom, dad, brother from Jaspers where we would meet up before the pandemic. Your brother has a great voice too.
Still hard to believe that Gordon wrote this song in a hotel room in Cleveland, OH, during a July thunderstorm!!
Amazing!
Well done!
Beautiful cover!
