Saw this unit today. Looking at its horn it looked like there was a 4A in place of 3A, since it looked a bit smaller..

The #1 bell sounds quite flat to me, rather than having a Sandcast #2. The notes #1 and 3B play have a very similar sound to what the #1 #3 bells on a Sandcast K3L would play, while the notes #2 and 3B sound like what a normal NF K3HB would play. This reminds me of 5626 although that one has a warbling #1.

I never thought I'd say this, but I might've found a horn I like better than the K5HLB.

I am glad that they are reusing the NF #4 bells from what used to be BCRail K5L horns in the distant past to make Raised Letter K5HLB horns on the CN sound like RS5T horns. I really like both CN 3105 and 3183 a lot. These 2 CN locomotives have wonderful sounding Raised Letter K5HLB horns that are perfectly tuned to sound like an RS5T with the NF #4 bells.

Epic! Its really nice to see Narrow font horns still being used, and even installed on gevos. Im noticing more and more gevos are using K3Hs now, also I think 3154's horn now has NF bells instead of RL ones.

Nice catch! heard this back in July, had no idea what it was since none of the already existing units on CN's roster with K3HLs or "K3HL"s couldve been here, and now i assume it was 2948 due to 2948 being on my subdivision sometime earlier this summer. Thanks for sharing!

I'm not a fan of most K5HLBs because they're usually out of tune or just sound strange. But this one is different. This is a beautiful horn. Its perfect. It's a shame that US railroads don't buy Leslie's anymore.

Good lord that is amazing! If I didn't know better, I would instantly mistake this for an S5T! There are certain aspects of CN that I don't like, but they seem to have awesome taste when it comes to their Motive Power and horns.

They should replace the dead 4 with a 2 for a NS 8105 wannabe. It will be like CN 3886 and 2888
