All guitars aside, your shop is a freakin' mess! 😱 How do you accomplish anything in there?

I just bought two, a gold (yellow) top, and a cherry burst. The cherry burst weighs a tonne and actually looks vintage! Including serial number, that looks to be stamped, but no made in usa. It has already been modded with gibson pots, and has a load of fret wear , so someone loved it! It has a great feel, slim 60s neck and I am in the process of fitting burstbuckers. The gold top on the other hand is like new, and plays like crap. The idea is to gig them, and keep my gibson explorer 76 reissue for special occasions. Thanks for the videos!!

Better buy a Japanese copy - Tokai, Greco, Orville etc, better building quality, and will spent almost the same amount of money.

My niece had one like this MIJ , $200 , I should of bought it for $150 it had great action and tone .

$40 , brought it on a bike no case? 😂 He ripped it from someone....

I got a Squire Strat in a Cash Converters for £50 brand new, still with the clingwrap on plastic parts. It had some sharp fret ends and the nut was cut a little high but a couple of hours work wjth some files and whatnot, plays like a dream, is super light weight and sounds awesome. Glad you also found a nice Strat without breaking the bank!

I like mine. Sounds great and is way different from what everyone else has. Mine is a 70s, I put grovers on it, super distortion in the bridge, PAF pro in the neck. I have never been afraid to play it hard. My gibsons are more like investments, they are so expensive. Gibsons are more fragile. These are getting hard to find and expensive. Ihave two.

I have a Chibson and it’s in the process of being upgraded. I’d like to see you upgrade a Greeny Chibson!

I have two Gibsons and three Epiphone Explorers. They are all great. One of the Epi's is their Korina '58 and it is solid Korina, not veneered. It is truly fun to play, and of course, I had to get the Korina V as well for the matching set! These two have real Gibson pickups, hardware, and electronics. The only differences are that they're made in China, don't say Gibson on the headstock, and don't cost $10k! And they come with a very nice hard case, all for only $1500. A bit steep for an Epiphone? Maybe, but I think it's justified for what you get. I guess I am not just a guitar hoarder, but an Explorer hoarder as well. 😀

Funny story. Revenge (slight) through humor.

I have the same year, it's a "post-Lawsuit" guild type headstock. But mine is an Ibanez tobacco "Deluxe 59'er.. . .Best guitar I ever held, including real Gibsons.. Bought it brand new. Changed the tuners. Bolt-on neck plays better than any Fender. . . Lighter weight so Not as much sustain as a heavy Gibson Les Paul. But plays fast with really low frets. . . . Really really clean tone pickups ( PAF-super 70's ) . . .They overdrive a little too easy.

I also bought one of those custom shops and do not regret it one bit! It is a 2016 historic R9 in ice tea burst. Plays and sounds incredible. Best guitar i own!🤘

Hey there, are you able to fill us in on any extra routing you may have had to do in order to get the humbucker in the bridge position? I have an '06 version that I've considered trying to drop a humbucker in to but I worry that by doing this modification, it would prevent me from being able to swap back to the dog ear P-90 should I chose to do so.

I never really wanted to look like I was playing a gibson. I wanted to feel like I was playing a gibson. These can’t do that. So i stick with authentic

I worked at HAMER guitars. That is a 1983 blitz. It is not a standard. Should be a three-piece mahogany body. I’m sure it’s a 1983 because in 1984 they started using a Kahler trem. It could’ve been painted and then the paint removed. But that’s just a guess based on the missing logo and serial number. The standard had the hockey stick headstock, and the three position switch up on the bottom horn. The blitz model had the toggle by the knobs.

3 piece maple neck. Norlins rule. T tops and thin neck. Fat but shallow frets and heavy. I play heavy. It's my perfect guitar

Great stories Paul. Brings back good memories of my 70's-80's riding and wrenching. You made me a 16cm stem for my Bontrager MTB back in 1988-89. Thanks for sharing.

Say no to Bolt on les pauls! They made set neck versions that are twins to the Greco which is more domestic and Ibanez is the exported brand.

Does anyone else think China counterfeits Marlboros?

Dave Grohl brought this guitar back in 1996 as a tribute to his friend and band mate Krist Novoselic who plays an ebony RD bass. When I saw Dave play one I had to find one, and I did! A 1978 RD Artist with Moog circuitry still in working order. Unfortunately it’s the same natural wood finish as in this video. I would have much preferred an ebony or fireburst finish. I love this guitar as I’m a big fan of Explorers, Flying V’s, Firebirds, and just angular guitars in general. Great video!

I'm ordering one from Kathy's guitars after watching a review by Fulton Street beats. That shop is the best Chibson custom shop. He had her build one and it was dang good. Check his channel out...plus he goes through the legality and ethics. They're not forgeries, they're "close" copies, a huge difference. Anyway, love Peter Green so I'm saving for one of the Cathy Customs.
