Exciting! I might have to go for the beauty, stay for the comics!
I just found this channel. I love it. I hope you continue to make more videos.
19:43 the best analogy I’ve heard for comic!
This was a good interview! When I started my own first comic, I felt like an imposter coming into this field. But like Sean referenced, I’m decent at art, I THINK I can be a good writer, and I have tons of ideas. Why not I just put the first step in and see where it goes. I’m happy I did. Keep these interviews coming38:17
JR JR 's Iron Man stuff with Layton was My Favorite Era of his Art Style .
Scott Dunbier, thanks for these amazing interviews. They very much are so educational
Its really fun to hear the talk.. I really enjoy this. Great video!
I feel like people dont talk much about him.. I just discovered his book a few days ago, and I actually stunned to how beautiful the artwork it is
I’m😅j
Ulysses in the 31st century was made by Americans animated by Japanese but big in Europe especially France.
oh my, one of the best looking comic artist I've ever seen, Blacksad is a masterpiece!
A generational talent.
✅Artist ✅ French accent ✅handsome. God damn, Keep this SOB away from your girl.
I have Les Indes Fourbes. After I saw the incredible art, I simply had to have it, even though I can't read French.
That was unexpectedly wholesome😊
Wayyyyyyyyyy back in the 90's I went to Comic Con for 4 straight years and met JRJr. I was right out of HS, no formal training and I wanted to draw comics. JR Jr, went out of way to give my scripts and advice. He remembered me the next year and did the same. By the third year he knew me by sight. College and life got in the way, but he hooked me up with the X-men and Spiderman-editors and offered a foot in the door. I'm a graphic designer and photographer as well as an instructor now. If you haven't tried to break into comics, then you have no idea how much time, practice and effort these guys have to do just to get in the door, much less be a success. The time it took was simply to much for me, but I'll always be grateful for guys like JRJr. I'll also give a shout out to Neal Adams & George Perez for doing the same.
John Romita Sr, was gifted, Jr, didn't inherit the gift.
Wow, after all these years a long form interview with Olivier. His work really brought me back to drawing in a serious way after having left it behind awhile. Love ALL his work, and what a sweet guy. Looking forward to your next chapter too Scott!
Stating the obvious here, but the lad can DRAW!!!
Great interview. An Olivier artist edition would be amazing!
These interviews are so great! Every time I come away with new artists to look up and admire. Please keep them coming!
That Daredevil run is the BEST. Really cool stuff. Artist's Edition pelase!
What a humble guy...John, you helped shape my childhood imagination. How you can be so laid back is one of the most impressive things. I have met artists with half your talent and 3 times the ego. Thanks for the awesome interview.
Didn't expect to see Scott as host. That makes this a must watch.
Hi 😂
Can you believe this guy is 55?! He doesn't even look 40!
Easily my favourite modern comic artist. His Spider-Man is sublime.
Loving this channel. Please keep it up!
Great video! But your intro is waay too long! Almost clicked away👍
THANK YOU! Great interview with one of my all time favorite artists. Im excited to listen to more!
As a fellow Yorkshire woman, I was so surprised to hear an accent so familiar! :) Wonderful artwork too!
just discovered this channel..love it..more please
Great artist! His work helped me improve my own drawings.
Great stories, inspirational guy, fantastic artist!
Can't wait to meet him at LCCAF ❤❤❤ he's A TRUE LEGEND
Too bad she traces all her reference photos and can't draw backgrounds so the story never feels grounded cuz we dont know where we are . just splashes of color for backgrounds. She learned to draw 3)4 front and profile. The panels where she has no reference stand out like a sore thumb as they say and look flat and awful. She traced photos from and sells them as sketches without crediting the photographer. Google tula lotay tracing and youll see the last of us traces and several others. She re uses panels and zooms in thinking people won't notice. Im not hating but she should credit and learn to draw on her own. Challenge her to draw one page of sequentials on the spot without her knowing the story. She couldn't do it. Just like the con sketchss she'll pull out phone to copy a reference or use one of her memorized head poses. Look at barnstormers and the mess that is. I'll point them out in a video hopefully soon. Flip through any of the work she does there is never any effort to draw a background EVER.
He's one the best artists out there! Love his work.
Just wanted to say my favorite comic from Sean is Tokyo Ghost and it was my first introduction to his art. It’d be cool if he did another similar comic not necessarily in the same time period of the far future just another comic with the same tone as that one with action and grittiness to it.
🙏 P r o m o s m
I enjoyed hearing her talk about how much more meaningful comics were when she was growing up and how they were much less easily attainable and thus more meaningful; and also hearing her rattling off all the great artists Sienkiewicz, Paul Smith, Chris Bachalo, Steve Dillon etc. who inspired her. And that Jon J. Muth's OA page hangs in a frame in her bathroom. She's a true lover of comics.
10:37 I'm pretty sure she said Muth used "James Jean for Havoc"...but I'm sure she meant James Dean. ;)
Juanjo is a true artist... this is a great interview - thank you!
Wonderful interview with a GREAT guest. I wish I could join you guys in Lake Como this year.
