Yamaha Hub Sv150 Silent Violin Demo
I noticed this video was not on youtube, so i uploaded it.
Just for all of the people who really want one, and who would like to see more of it.
The Violinist is Robert Anderson, he'll take you through several trials on the Sv-150 Silent Practice Violin. He'll also play some very good improv.
The violin comes in wine red, black, and brown. (I prefer black or red.) And it has the "control box"
The speaker is the "Yamaha Cube"
You can find this on the Yamaha website for further research.
Please rate, subscribe, and comment.
This was a downloadable video from the "Yamaha Hub" I don't own this video or the copyrights..."

    Hiya, I loved the demonstration. I'm looking at learning the violin at home. I live in shared accom and want to avoid nuisance neighbour claims so am looking at using headphones and hooking the violin up to my computer. Would I be better off with an electric violin or an acoustic one with a pick up? Any help you can give is appreciated. Cheers :)

    I found the same problem with all the cables. What is the make of that little speaker that the control box is plugged into ? Good sound !

    im planning on getting one of these since I've broken 2 acoustic violins in the past year (lol), just a question, do you need to buy an expensive amp, or is the control box enough? (like, outsides of practice, if perhaps you want to perform for friends or something), what would you need?

    not true only the sv150 is a practice violin. sv130 the sv200 and sv250 are for performence.

    @xxxMasterPro I wouldn't say it's bad. If you're looking to perform with it, i suggest buying an EV model, as the SV's are meant for practice, and thus they are typically weaker and quieter.

    @yamenhawit I'd say definitely start with an acoustic.

    @Henry92RLC I'd say a heavy practice mute does the job if you only want it quiet, but it's not quieter than the silent violin, unplugged. Mutes also affect different violins differently. My old violin would make more of a "bug-in-your-ear" sound, whereas my new violin is actually quite sonorous, and sustains pitches long after the note is released. TL;DR: It's not MORE quiet, but it's quiet enough.

  • @Henry92RLC
    @Henry92RLC 13 років тому

    I read that you can put a heavy practice mute on an electric violin and it makes even more quiet. I looked all over the Internet and couldn't find much about. Do you know if it makes it more quiet?

  • @LlamaLlord21
    @LlamaLlord21 13 років тому

    @laura195116 No!!! Definitely not! It's considerably lighter than any acoustic i've ever held. Perhaps half or more of the weight of an acoustic is removed.

  • @LlamaLlord21

    @DeathlyGust Yup, you just need to get the right cord and possibly adapter.

    I am having trouble deciding between the 130/150 is the quality very different between the two? I am just looking for solo silent practice that I can plug headphones into but I am looking for the classic sound so I feel better playing classical pieces.

  • @LlamaLlord21

    @hgchjk It wouldn't be loud enough to wake a person in the next room. They would probably hear it if they woke up in the middle of the night and were trying to get back to sleep, but no - not wake them. It's about the same, if not quieter than quiet speech.

  • @LlamaLlord21
    @LlamaLlord21 14 років тому

    @roughout it still has strings that vibrate, so yes it actually makes noise. It might be a bit quieter than a violin with a huge mute, but not THAT much. It can still be heard in a different room, assuming the room is rather small. The biggest difference is that without a speaker or headphones, it'll sound bad.

  • @roughout
    @roughout 14 років тому

    @LlamaLlord21 A violin with a "large metal practice mute" is not "pretty quiet". All this is relative to what we are comparing to but the question asked was "can I...play without making a sound outside my ears?" A violin with a practice mute can be heard anywhere with our 4000 sq ft home. Will a silent violin be heard through the door or wall, or by someone in the same room?

  • @LlamaLlord21
    @LlamaLlord21 14 років тому

    It can be used with an amp, but when I've performed with it with an orchestra accompanying me, and the other soloists either using my sv or the teacher's ev, I thought the ev was a bit louder and had much clearer tone quality.

  • @LlamaLlord21
    @LlamaLlord21 14 років тому

    @DonnaaPinciotti I suppose that depends on your headphones, but yes they are pretty quiet. Though, now that I am older, i would much rather just have a large metal practice mute. I would be able to play the same violin with the same shoulder rest, chin rest, strings etc. and it would be just as quiet. Sure you get rid of a few bells and whistles, but i think it's worth it.

  • @LlamaLlord21
    @LlamaLlord21 14 років тому

    @nik00lakisGR It has wires, and is electric, but its not meant to be played for performance. it's a practice violin, therefore it doesn't need the same punch as an EV model.

  • @LlamaLlord21
    @LlamaLlord21 14 років тому

    @DollwarDevil if a string breaks, put a new one on. in the video it was plugged into an amp. but believe me, if you're looking for something to practice with, this is maybe as quiet as a violin with a sizable mute. It's like a toy since it has the box, which is also very useful, but the EV models are more for performance.

  • @DollwarDevil
    @DollwarDevil 14 років тому

    What do you do if a string breaks or gets too worn out... v_v ? Also, is it plugged into an amp that whole time or was it just the box. o.o?
