I seem to recall it being said in the extras to this that this tune was entirely made up for this story. Please do correct me if I'm wrong but that's pretty genius. Sung so well too, you could genuinely believe it originated in Victorian England.

I’ve been trying to find this talk for so long. Tavi did this talk more than once, but it’s this particular performance that I love because of the way she describes her aesthetic associations (starting around 23:00). She’s truly describing an underrated, seldom-acknowledged phenomenon that I used to experience so much in my adolescence: those maps she draws, in her mind and on paper, connecting light to song lyric to movie scene to location back to light… they’re brilliant because they are beautiful, but also because they’re tangible results of a magnificent symptom of a period of life that, unfortunately, gets written off as a time of ignorance, naivety, and idealism.
