I could spend hours dissecting this mans attempt to sanitise the biblical endorsement of slavery. However i will simply say if there is any Christians who has the guts to try and defend it, just reply to me here and we can go through it together one piece at a time

Yawn 😴 the usual christian semantics trying to define slavery out of the bible, okay let's do this then shall we. Firstly, the Hebrew word is עבד" "ebed" which is derived from the word "abad" which is cognate to the Arabic word "abd" meaning _one who is subordinated as a slave or servant_ Now whilst it is correct correct that Hebrew is very ambiguous and ebed carries a range of meanings including servant and slave. The Greeks however had no such confusion with their words and had seperate words for servant and slave, so I think it telling that the septuagint uses the word doulos 300 times, and there is no ambiguity about this word as doulos literal means slave, "one who is owned". So at least it is clear what the translators in the 3rd century BC thought the meaning was. And this is the bible that *jesus* is thought to have quoted from hmmm?. 🤔🤔🤔 We also have biblical examples of doulos being used literally ( *eph: 6,5 col: 4,1* ) The Greeks choose doulos their word for slave not their word for "servant" precisely BECAUSE they knew the loading one word had over the other. They had other words such as "ergato" (see the parable of the hired workers in the vineyard in Matthew 20) or "diakonos". John 2 9 Doulos was always an unfree slave who had no liberty. Just a side point for you, the hebrew scripture uses precisely the SAME words to discribe slavery in Exodus 21 21 as it does for the Israelites slavery in Eygpt 🤔 so look on the bright side. Maybe those Israelites in Egypt really had a nice happy clappy relationship with the Egyptians, you know more like a *"family servant"* Infact, I'm surprised God was so thoughtless as want to split up such a friendly productive social system at all aren't you ?? 😜😜😜 Oh and Incidentally Paul could speak and write both Greek and Hebrew and yet he chose to use the word "doulos" in his epistles 🤔🤔

"St. Gregory of Nyssa, the first in recorded history, writes the first ever treatise condemning slavery wholesale." Nope. As often happens, the Greeks thought of it first. Alcidamas wrote, around 400 BC: "God has left all men free; nature has made no man a slave"

"The Bible is not using the term "slavery" in that way (as we refer to Antebellum slavery)" That's a lie. The Bible is using the term in the same way. Chattel slavery is defined as "the enslaving and owning of human beings and their offspring as property, able to be bought, sold, and forced to work. Another definition is: "The condition in which one person is owned as property by another and is under the owner's control, especially in involuntary servitude." Leviticus 25 explicitly describes and condones chattel slavery. "44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids. 45 Moreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession. 46 And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour." Under Mosaic law, foreign slaves were chattel slaves. They could be bought, sold, separated from their families, beaten, raped, killed, kept for life, and passed down as inherited property. Every specific reference to foreign slaves in the Bible is to deny them rights and protections afforded to Hebrew slaves. The treatment of foreign slaves was every bit as bad, or worse, than slavery in the Antebellum south.

While this song is from Isaiah 55:12, Jesus also stated that if man didn't worship God, even the rocks would cry out. (Luke 19:36-40) God is so deserving of worship, if man didn't worship God, the rest of creation will cry out!
