No the port size does NOT CAUSE excursion...maybe because there's less back pressure, it flops loosely? But that's probably not efficient..or good for the sub

thats a great way to blow a sub... you might as well just have no box at all. Or.. cut that port size by half and itll hit harder and last 100x longer.

assuming the box is 3.5 cubic feet and 11.7" port is 25" long, it'd be tuned for 50hz and be flat as fuck down low
