    I use to work downtown right by Rogers Place and I'd see everything from people out of their minds screaming in the air to dead bodies lying on the ground. Edmonton has become a home for meth heads, crime & the hopeless. Just an absolute dump.

    It is very sad what happened to Jasper. Wild fires are not new to Alberta. It happened before in Fort Mac,and to other places. I keep asking myself: were there any prior plans to cope with a fire if it happened? Who is responsible for such prior emergency plans? I am certainly not blaming the fire-fighter who bravely fought the fires in Jasper. My question is more at the government’s strategic level. Was there any plans on how to defend Jasper against wild fires? Or there weren’t any?? With such wild fires being very likely, what was being done different from previous years? Or was the response palliative?

  • @xjapan3

    What a dump.

      @AOWalkingTours Місяць тому

      Why?

    • @xjapan3
      @xjapan3 Місяць тому

      @AOWalkingTours In previous years there were extraordinary decorations in Bourbon Street, and there were fantastic geological displays. Some things still remain. In defense of the mall, there are valid reasons why many of the attractions couldn't be kept. Other malls in the city have been renovated with new floor and they have an elegant and modern interior. In support of your channel, I will say that the mall does have an attractive appeal. My comment did sound too negative, and I should have identified the problems more diplomatically. While the mall has such a big influence, it was my expectation that the renovations should have maintained a more impressive appearance. The research for interior design was intended for families and children. That is a valid reason, but the depth of research for finding a design solution that really appeals to children shows that it was a challenging task under tight deadlines. I don't want to blame them, because they did try hard. They do have significant financial challenges. I was too harsh in my first comment. Sorry about the negativity.

    • @cflisthebest
      @cflisthebest 13 днів тому

      @@xjapan3 they have renovated the entire mall a couple times at least. the flooring in some areas has been replaced as well. I don't think it is a dump, however times have changed and they need to find ways to make money and keep things fresh.

      @cflisthebest I definitely agree about how times have changed and the ways to adapt, financially.

    Downtown is riddled with pedways, to get around in those down to minus 40 temps, and avoid homeless and street persons. Winter is a dead season. The beginning of this video, down 101 Street, with the glass towers ahead being the edge or beginning of Downtown. To the left of 101 Street as we walk, is Chinatown, and homeless area with shelters, missions and over 20 churches. City hall glass pyramid, Royal Alberta Museum, Alberta Art Gallery, Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Stanley Milnar Library, Citadel Theatre and Performing Arts Centre, Churchill Square. Edmonton has a mandate that all new, core buildings are to be only blue glass orange brick, a nod to the Oilers, as seen here in the Ice District.

      Small town attitude. (Race and religion only matter for minority employers). Not stuck on technicalities like references and experience. It's hard to keep employees so it's competitive. People are lazy, drug addicted, and unreliable. In Ontario, if you are late more than 3 times in a year, even by a minute, you are fired. Here, that is unheard of. Simple folk, farm, and country mentality. Not the sharpest tools in the shed. Very judgemental and aggressive. (LGBT not welcomed). Be humble, and pretend you're stupid, they'll be fine. Alberta is so beautiful it's worth the move. Most importantly, DRIVE! You won't get good employment without a vehicle.
