Interview with Chris Thompson of Manfred Manns Earth Band
So damn humble! You gotta love Mike❣️
I find the label of yacht rock, disparaging and disrespectful. I can see why Donald Fagen told the director to go fuck himself.
I enjoyed very much this documentary... but being kind of part of that "movement" I need to say that there is not such a "genere" called 'yacht rock'... It was just music, well thought and well executed fine music. Sadly those days are gone and there is not light at sight at the end of the tunnel...
Michael….sigh. Fabulous. Heavenly. All around good soul. I love his down time spent with his dogs. And his family. If his daughter sings as well as Tommy Johnstons does well hey!! Get a girl band together!
I have to say Great interview I see alot of things about him on Y - Tube that he is not singing anymore its all Lip Syncing many singer due that and if he is so be it I enjoy his music and people should calm down about it !!!
Anyone know what year this is?
This is how to conduct an interview! Great questions. I love that you brought up “No Apologies” because I had the exact same thoughts about that song.
The best 80's song ever written. Period!
Still love that song star to fall. I watched the YT music video every time I can. Love the 80’s. Cool chemistry of them two. 😎👍🏼
Is there any insight as to the inspiration Kenny had for the song "Angelique"?
So amazing they can still talk and be civil with each other ,.,,what a song it’s an absolute classic ,.,even now it feels fresh like it was done just last week.,.,
Loved Brandy!
What a warm and honest human being he is!
Nice version of this song!😊
I love his voice on Brandy and Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne. JLM is still such a great song.
You have interview with Kenny Loggins and that’s really great! Thank you !
Oh wonder in music hard Road he made it❤
Lol.. That wig. I just can't stop laughing. He's a clone of Elton John.
I worked with one of the Army and White Heart members for two years. Those were the names of the band before they changed it to just Heart. I know a couple of good stories regarding Steve when he was in HS. They are going to be playing a couple of dates in North Carolina and Virginia. Watching your video really convinced me to go to the meet and greet. Thanks so much for recording and posting this. Best interview with Steve that I’ve ever seen. He was very relaxed talking to you. Great questions too.
That man can sing! One of the greatest singers ever! What a voice!
CD "Reel Life" до сих пор украшает мою фонотеку! Считаю его одним из лучших альбомов в мире поп-музыки. Также очень нравится их последняя работа "The Wonderground" 👍
Love this guy!......Brandy was one of the greatest songs ever!!
He’s Italian, good Mediterranean genes
David Foster also produced Alice Cooper's "From The Inside" in 1978.
Just finished his book a few minutes ago. Big fan.. His story of his wife’s cancer brought me to tears. I am survivor of breast cancer also. Loved the Motown songs.
Love Tiffany
Love Waiting for A Star to Fall
Waiting for a Star to Fall has to be in my top songs from the 80’s! I listen to my 80’s list while on my morning walk!
Such a great interview ! Well Done !
Frankie is amazing I seen him Vegas.
I loved this festival. I saw it on July 20th in Bushkill, PA.
Shannon is still a very beautiful lady at 72 years of age.
This song was a huge part of my life. Life people music was so good back than, especially this song!!
uh something that they didn't mention here and I want to to tell, is not only is Mr.Thomas Morgan Robertson aka Dolby a Professor and a awesome 'tubular' musician, writer, smart and very funny chap, he is also married to the most incredibly beautiful woman on the face of this plant.. yeah I said that, I've been envious of only one person in my whole life and that would be Thomas. He's married to Kathleen Beller who is a movie actress who was in 'the Blue and the Gray', 'the Sword and the Sorcerer', and 'the Betsy' to name a few. She has always been my favorite and I know when I looked her up years ago on Wikipedia I was quite surprised that she was married to him. Kudos to You, Thomas. You have my respect, Sir. Hi Kathleen.. I love 'she blinded me with Science' have since it first came out back in the early 80's. I'm a 80's teenager and grew up listening to all those wonderful bands from then. I seen most of them .. and met most of them also. I'm old and worn out now but in my day I was the 'King of Nothing'. Thanks for the interview.
I do play a lot. I hope I'm not being rude , But the song waiting for a star could be re-issued and mixed to todays sound. Not changed or ruined . but it has a lot of legs even today
Thanks for the video! Looking forward to the show.
I watched another UA-cam video with them and Dick Clark. I had no idea that they knew Thom Bell, which of course means that they likely also knew Linda Creed. As much as ”Waiting For a Star to Fall” is emotionally so profound, so are many of the songs that Thom Bell and Linda Creed created. Linda Creed’s lyrics penetrate your heart and never leave.
The totally tubular sets are awesome. He did a great set
I cannot wait to see! I am going this Sunday in DC! ❤
My crush
Excellent interview as always. I will see you next weekend at the anthem

I listen to Pual's songs everyday . I am 72 years old and was a Bass Player back in the 1960's in several bands . Wish I could have played with Paul on some of his records . He is a Great Talent
Great song from 1988 ! I remember it being all over the radio then
You sold me on getting the speed of sound book , sure it will be a hoot to read.
It’s a great read! I love how he tells personal stories and also gets into the technical stuff. He’s an incredible storyteller and very bright.
Enjoyable interview with Alan. A pity he didn't mention the documentary he continues to work on about the group. Five Yers of Vocal Harmony I belueve it is going to be titled. A retrospective 5 album set was herald for release but I have no idea if that now is going to come to fruition. Fingers crossed. I can understand in this very different world how challenging it would be to sell an album set especially for a group who I suppose most fans are of a similar age due to growing up with MT. A group who still like physical media including cds. MT certainly have influenced many younger generations to pursue vocal harmony and that is wonderful to know and for the group to be proud of. An impressive legacy. N.B. Janis has released a new album and has recently played at the Blue Note. It amazes me how she never slows down and is always creating. Amazing. I have had the good fortune to have met and chat briefly with Tim, Cheryl, Yarron and member sof the band. That was many years ago now. A incredibly kind group of people who are so modest especially considering their amazing skills and talents.
I can’t fit it all in. Can only cover so much. ❤
@@Backstagepasswithmeredithmarx My apologies Meredith. I didn't mean it as a criticism of your interview. To be very honest I was hoping Alan my have seen my comment and provided an update. Your interview was exxcellent. You have a very humble, calm and sincere approach that is very endearing. Other interviewers could learn a lot from watching how you conduct a conversation. All the best to you.☺
@@triplejazzmusicisall1883no criticism taken. I wish I could have hours with each guest. I just soak up what time I have. 😁 Thanks for watching. Alan was a gem to interview
@@Backstagepasswithmeredithmarx Yes he comes across as an absolute gentleman. Take care and thank you.
Lovely interview. Have you not heard the two Thompson Twins albums after 1987? Big Trash from 1989 which is my all time favourite album. Then Queer in 1991. Then after that, Tom & Alannah did two albums under the name Babble. All are great albums :) x😢
Yes. I just can’t cover all. I was limited to 25 minutes. 😂
@@Backstagepasswithmeredithmarx didn't mean to put the crying face 😂😂
I'll definitely buy a record, Frankie!! ❤
Frankie has been my biggest crush since I could remember!! Frankie also went to school with my aunt Francine in Newark New Jersey. She would to tell her stories about when they were younger and she even said that he was always the nicest guy ♥️
Meredith, I've only just discovered your channel. You've managed to capture the heroes of my musical youth. Thankyou so much and keep up the good work x
Aww thank you! I love talking to these amazing talents from our childhood! The absolute best. Thanks for watching.
