In this video I kayak across open waters to an uninhabited island spent 2 nights at different campsites, explored the area including a graveyard. I found some wild horses, and had an excellent time on this adventure. The island is called Shakleford Banks in North Carolina's Outer Banks. Music in this video is from Josh Woodward, "Don't Go Gentle" To purchase the backpack like I used on the trip...

So excited to finally get the bus painted! Entire bus sanded, all reflective tape removed, primed all areas where heavy sanded was done. Started paint process with the white areas, next day we taped everything that wasn’t getting color and finished with Restoration Pro Acrylic Urethane single stage paint with hardner and reducer. I’m very pleased with finished product, it’s very durable and glo...

Topic of this video is the idea of using modular mini survival kits to carry in your bug out bag to quickly deploy and leave your main kit behind when needed. Let me know in the comments what you’d add or take away from the modular quick deploy kits. Thanks for watching!

He says as he starts a fire in the *wooden frame* of a house

Would it hurt to get the 40L ? I know it's only a 6L difference

I really enjoyed your video of your schoolie. I have a 35' rear engine International with a 7.3 PS. The thing I don't like about this engine is that it has an ECM. Otherwise I am happy with this vehicle. I am keeping the current floor as it feels solid. I am using the current DC wire channel panel that runs over the top of the windows for my AC wiring. Receptacles will be fashioned in the panel on one side only which is the driver's side. Any need on the passenger side for either AC or DC use will be strung overhead using magnet hooks since I'm keeping the metal ceiling. My schoolie will have 2 or 3 30 gallon food grade plastic tanks. Under the floor of the bus I will have 2 gray water tanks and 1 black water tank 30 gallons each. On the front of the vehicle I will have a carriage for a propane generator. Also hoping to have a portable homemade VAWT wind generator to keep my lead acid batteries topped off when boondocking in the high desert of Nevada and elsewhere in other Western states. I will have a fully self contained home on wheels for just me, a widower and Navy veteran at 82 years of age. What kind of mileage do you get on your schoolie ? Diesel I suppose ? Happy travels to you !!
@@alvisjenkins1305 Sounds like yours is going to be very nice. Mine has the DT466 diesel, I get about 9 miles per gallon cruising. Thanks!
Loved that Dakota Fire Pit, makes cooking awesome!!
This is awesome.

I see your dad in you and he would be so proud. So would your mommy. I enjoy watching your videos. I love you cuz ❤️
Aw I you sure do miss them, thanks so much cuz! Love you!
GORGEOUS paint job
Thank you!
What a great video! I took a group of boyscouts on a geology-focused weekend. We camped at Badin Lake campground and hiked to Russell Gold Mine about 10 years ago. Heading back there in a couple of weeks. Thanks for making this, you did a great job on it!
Thanks so much! Hope you guys had a great time!
Hey thanks!! Needed this to help with the setup, great video man!
Awesome, enjoy the tent, I love mine
Thanks. This is an easy way to
The real question is how does it do in the rain?
Yes, good question, I’ve only used it 3 times, and been lucky enough to have dry weather. Appears to have great seams though, and the bottom tub is at least 4” high so unless it’s flooding, should be good. I don’t believe this tent is available now though, there’s a new model.
👍🏼👍🏼
Great video T.
Thank you, thanks for watching!!
So it was a required weekly test
What camp stove is that ?
It’s the Pomoly Timberwolf 3
Could've done without that last shot lol
🤣 that’s the dirty reality side of staying out in the wild, but hey the view is pretty awesome when nature calls!
Cool Cousin TJ! 💙
So very helpful Thank you
Glad I could help!
The Bus is looking great T. You got a lot of work done on the inside. Looking good 👍
Thank you! It’s hard to find to time to work on it, but I’ll get it.
Hey guys, let me know what you think of the bus so far, and if you’re building one now or considering one. Thanks for watching!
Wished you could've had a fish fry. But glad you didn't go hungry. Loved the video.
I was ready for them! Had to make a camping trip out of this one instead of fishing. I had a blast though!
Hey buddy! Looks like you had a great time! Kinda stinks didn't get to do much/any fishing.... See any ghousties out there around that cemetery? Lol Was there an old settlement there or something?
@robertwixon2855 yeah I wasn’t risking it kayaking that rough sea water, and the sound side was crazy, like mostly 1.5 ft. deep as far as you can see! I heard some weird noises from there the last night, stopped when got my camera out! No settlement there, they were moved from another island nearby that flooded a long time ago.
Me looking at how to hang a bag away from bears….
Hahaha! This one won’t work 😁 you’ll need to throw a rope over a high branch and hang it way off the ground, tie the other end of the rope onto the tree to secure it
@@TRoysAdventures lol and away from the tree, and so far down from the branch. But only works if you have trees with branches, on the west coast it gets trickier
@@harmonylauzon5411 oh well that sucks! I’d probably just stow my food far away from my campsite and take my chances of loosing it. Thankfully I’ve never encountered a bear, just coyotes, and bobcats. I just keep a fire going all night, they always stay away.
Where is the trailhead located? I visit that area at least once a year.
It’s in the parking lot of the Holy Cross Episcopal Church on Skiles Way off 194
I agree I love how you show and demonstrate all your items. Great video!
Thank you!
Looks awesome T.
Thanks!! I love how it turned out!
What car is that
It was my Chevy work van
Maybe an express van
@@mrknip1000 yep!
T-Roy.... cool kit. Looks like you have most of your needs covered. I'd suggest a sleeping pad. Ifn the ground is frozen or wet or you're trying to sleep on a concrete floor, it can be pretty uncomfortable!! Keep your tail up off the ground, if at all possible. Nice kit. Best wishes....... Ax.
Thanks Ax!
If you do the date reveresd and \ remove the last 11 its says 9/11
Great video ....
Was this recorded in Charlotte, NC? I'm from Charlotte so I think I recognized most of the stations in this video
Yes, Charlotte station. Not far away, Stanly County.
👍👍
Nice relaxing camp 🏕 THANKS ...Alan in 🇨🇱
Thank you, I really enjoyed that trip!
Jeffrey Dean Morgan lol or just me 😂
😁 I get that a lot hahaha!
I was wondering if hammock camping is allowed in uwharrie i am going camping there in a few weeks and i want to use a hammock
Yes, I haven’t seen any signs saying otherwise. I do have a nice set of tree straps I use now when I go. I don’t camp camp near the OHV trails, it gets pretty wild this time of year. I like the trails near Ophir- jumping off rock, and Joe Moffitt trail heads. Enjoy!
@@TRoysAdventures Thanks man
Love you shirt man. Good video
Thanks Juan!
Great review.. Thanks.
I’ve watched about the orca bag and really like it but I’ve never seen you tote any socks with you and you can buy a cheap vacuum sealer to help you save some room and help you to keep things dry just a couple of ideas but I like the videos!!!
I keep my socks and underwear in a ziplock bag, that is a good idea to use a vacuum sealer to compact things like that. I have one I use to vacuum seal my deer meat, I bet it would do just as well for things like that. Thanks Mike!
Cool video but please get some tree straps you do harm to the trees without straps I'm up in the area all the time too
Thanks, I’ve actually purchased some spider poly tree straps from Dutch since this video, they work great. I spend a lot of time in the Uwharrie’s love it there!
@@TRoysAdventures I'll be up there at the Fourteenth and Fifteenth at Yates place
@@charleslynn3921 Awesome, have a great trip!
Excellent job ! Great ideas
All looks good, well done. One suggestion would be to throw $200 cash in there.
Thanks for the review and the thumbs up! 👍
I use it often, works great. Thank you!!
Cool vid, I always like seeing what setups other people go with. You had some real good ideas in there
Thanks, I plan to do an update video soon, it’s evolved a bit. Thanks for watching!
hi, thanks for the review.. Does it heat larger tents for 3-4 people in winter? Can I sleep warmly in -10 / -15 degrees cold weather? Or should I buy another stove?
I haven’t tried it in a large tent but I’m sure it would keep you comfortable, just have to have plenty of wood to keep the damper more open so the fire burns hotter. If you use it very often you may consider investing in a larger one though.
@@TRoysAdventures Thank you :)
Nice break away kit!
Thanks man!
Mabye a good sized pocket knife can come in handy as well? With a retractable blade mabye, to keep it safe and so it doesn't take up much space. Awesome videos man. Can't wait until your next trekking video!
Agreed, thanks!! Hoping to do another one of those real soon!
Having your gear organized is always beneficial, I use bags of various colors and translucent sides to identify contents. Colored velcro patches i.e. firekit patches are also helpful.
Definitely. I’ve learned from actually using my kit overnight several times. That’s why I ditched my tactical assault pack, was nice but too many pockets and compartments. Now I use the OneTigris pack with one large main compartment, better load bearing, room for winter gear, and several need specific kits I can grab and go quickly. Much more organized. Thanks!
