How To Remove a Stuck Coil Sleeve on a Pinball Machine
Переглядів 1158 місяців тому
Have you ever had a pinball flipper coil with a coil sleeve that won't come out of the coil? Sometimes the coils get too hot and the sleeves get frozen in place and don't want to come out. Sometimes the tips of the coil sleeve get brittle and break off causing the coil to not sit properly and cause issues. If you are rebuilding the flippers, it is a must to replace the coil sleeves and this can...

Final Fight Arcade Game Intro at Play Port in Erie, PA
I suck at this game!
Pinbot is my favorite of all time. When i was a kid and my mom played bowling, they had this pinball game there. So many nestalgic memories just hearing the sounds. Love it❤
It's really a great game and the sequel "Bride of Pinbot" is my all time favorite. I am planning a restoration video for Bride this winter. I actually found a NIB 2.0 kit to install in it so it will be a fun video!
Where do you get the LED buttons online. I thought you said RK parts but I can't find them
na.suzohapp.com/parts/arcade_parts/williams/cruisin_usa_sitdown/ Suzohapp has the whole button assembly but you can just get the led bulbs if your buttons are still in good shape. They have those here also.
Can you post a 'shopping list'? I want to mimic your setup, but have zero experience.
Thx for the review
I have an exotica and love it but I’m worried that the lcd conversion might be tougher because of all the stuff in the way.
It's pretty easy if you have a little handyman skills. Go for it!
I have the Pin-Bot triology in my home arcade. Grats on the Jack-Bot. Would love to see how you adjsuted the visor on both PinBot and JackBot.
When I get time, I will shoot a quick video on the Visor adjustment. By factory there is only 2 screws that hold the assembly on at the bottom and it sags down over time causing it to not set level with the playfield. I add 2 additional screws to the top side to make it set flush again and then use the adjustment screws to level it with the playfield.
Do you repair these as a business or just hobby and have an arcade? I have this exact machine my parents bought in the mid 80's and I used to play it as a kid. It's been sitting for probably 15 years but I'd love to get it to where yours is!
I have an arcade in town and also my personal collection at my house. I mainly just repair/restore games for the Arcade and my private collection. Most of these videos are at my house in the garage because these restorations take a long time and I just work on them a little at a time in the evenings and weekends. I have another Tech that does the daily routine maintenance. This is a great game, I hope you get yours back in shape! It's a lot more fun to play when it plays properly.
@@BradsManCaveArcade I actually ended up finding a local guru that owns a restoration company. He came and picked it up and I showed him your video. He said say no more!
What brand and model number for the screen?
The TV I used is an LG 32MR50CS-B. I purchased this at SAMS club
I worked on the game physics . TJ Bordelon was the lead developer. Flick the top of the ball with one hand. Use other hand to guide it left and right by using your , keep the other hand to the left or right. TJ is in Boston . I am in Los Angeles. We built the game in Burbank, CA
That's awesome! Great job on this game.
0:38 "It just sucks your balls dead...". Sounds like my trip to Thailand last month....
Where can you buy those electrical connectors and pins for Black Pyramid?
Marco pinball
I just applied some Brasilian carnauba wax to my playfield. It’s made a big improvement to the gameplay. The ball glides along the surface and moves alot quicker arpund the playfield. I didn’t take all the parts off it though like you did. Does your machine play music?
Yes the sound effects are adjustable in the game settings, I turned the volume down for the video.
Yo I'm about to do the lcd conversion so what brand name was your tv?
The TV I used is an LG 32MR50CS-B. I purchased this at SAMS club
A bit hard to hear you talk after 1:30 Have you considered a lapel microphone? Helpful video, I’d love to get an old EM machine some day.
I put brand new flippers in my Black Pyramid today and both flippers kept getting stuck in the up position every time. I had to loosen the grub acrews and slightly lift up each flipper away from the playfield a little bit while I tightened the grub screws.
Yes, that is important. They make a flipper gauge that slips between the flipper shaft and bushing so you get the correct spacing. You should also replace the bushings when rebuilding the flippers. Some kits include them but most do not.
@@BradsManCaveArcade I only replaced the flippers as they were cracked and looked unappealing. Where did you buy your rebuild kit from? Should I replace the solenoid coils too? I might do a flipper kit replacement in the future.
@@OilBaron100 Marco or pinball life sells them. www.pinballlife.com/williams-flipper-rebuild-kit-041969-to-121979.html No need to replace the coils if they are not bad, the rebuild kit comes with new coil sleeves.
Great video, thanks for posting Brad. Helpful content. A bright light would make it a bit easier to see your videos.
Noted! I need to upgrade my lighting in the garage.
I just bought this machine recently. Your playfield has come up really nice. Did you touch it up with some paint? What did you use? My playfield is a bit in some spots and it needs a good clean. It stopped playing the musical theme, do you have any idea on what I should check to get it to work?
Yes, I did some minor touch up paint with createx airbrush paint but this game had a really nice playfield so it didn't require much touch up paint. Congrats on your purchase, this is a great pinball and its lots of fun!
@@BradsManCaveArcadethanks :-) Some of the lights on the playfield don’t work, and after looking at wiring diagrams I’ve realised that it’s all of the lights driven by the auxiliary-lamp driver so I’ll have to troubleshoot that electrical board.
I bought this game two weeks ago. I like your lights, LEDs, they look really nice. Did you install them yourself?
Yes I did, If you would like to see how I did them, please watch the restoration video I did here ua-cam.com/video/DSuZqdo1K4w/v-deo.htmlsi=fRyzr1j4WR4R2sb1
@@BradsManCaveArcade thanks. There’s not much content about this game online so it’s great to see your videos. Will you replace your moving target with the standard round-yellow one? I’m trying to find one myself for my machine.
It looks great! Can't wait for the stuck flipper issue to return :) Maybe the flipper arm is installed a smidge too tight or something?
P r o m o s m
I love cleaning out the bowling ball holder and adjusting the pressure on the optical sensors. LOVE IT
Good stuff Brad :) Be careful changing any potentiometers! You have to make sure the action of the pedal/steering wheel exceeds the range of motion for the potentiometer when you install it or it will just rip it apart.
Good point, maybe we should do a video on that next time we have to change one.
Interesting video, and nice memories of this game!
