    Do you think they stopped using the conveyor belt because of Covid/recent trends of people contaminating kaiten sushi?

    • @your-japan-guide
      @your-japan-guide 4 дні тому

      I believe that's the case, in addition to their high sushi quality standards where they'd prefer to serve the fish fresh-to-order, instead of having it sit on the conveyor belt. The sushi here is intended to be eaten fresh!

    • @your-japan-guide
      @your-japan-guide 6 днів тому

      Correct! This location actually has a conveyor-belt location in the same exact building. Though, the wait times for this kaiten location are often much higher than the standing counter location.

  • @billc6762
    @billc6762 7 днів тому

    The price is actually the selling point. For the same quality, you pay $200 per person in any US city

    • @your-japan-guide
      @your-japan-guide 6 днів тому

      Great point! Thanks for sharing ^_^ And while these prices might be great relative to US prices, this 'kaiten' location is still pricier relative to the average Japanese conveyor belt sushi restaurant. Though, their above average premium fish quality perhaps justifies these prices?

    This looks insane for that 4000 yen walk-in price! I'm thinking about monitoring the seats available online and go there last minute in my trip hehehe Does "walk-in" just mean without a reservation or this would be like arriving at the restaurant last minute? For the 11h30 session, for example, would I pay 4000 if I arrived there early and waited to see if there was space available? Thanks!

    • @your-japan-guide
      @your-japan-guide 10 днів тому

      I think that's a solid idea and I hope it works out! Though, i'd recommend having a few backup spots in the area just in case! But that's correct. As far as I know, the walk-in price is exactly as you described - you'd pay 4,000 on the day if there was space available during the session. Good luck! ^_^

    Thank you for sharing! We are hoping to make it to Tokyo in 2026. Everything looks so good! What do they use to make the sushi rice? Is there a particular brand I can get? Also. it appears to not be totally white, do they mix in a little soy sauce?

    • @your-japan-guide
      @your-japan-guide 13 днів тому

      Hope you have a great trip when you make it out there! I'm not sure what specific type of sushi rice they use, but they might be willing to share if you ask! Great observation! Sushi rice generally involves a mixture of vinegar among a few other ingredients, but it varies from chef to chef. They use a darker vinegar here, which is why it doesn't appear totally white. They also add soy sauce to each piece individually using a brush, which is typical for higher-end sushi restaurants. It's nice because it saves you from having to dip it yourself ^_^

    You are a rockstar. Love the voice over, the target audience that you go for. I’m coming for a month in September and some of October and have been using you as someone down to earth to plan some of what to do. I’ve done really nice omakase in the USA and trying to figure out what level of price I should go for

    • @your-japan-guide
      @your-japan-guide Місяць тому

      Thanks so much for the kind words! If you've done high-end omakase in the US, you might want to check out this restaurant's more extensive dinner courses, as these lunch courses are the most basic (albeit still top-tier). While they're highly rated across the Japanese restaurant review sites, they even have two locations in the US (both w/Michelin stars in the past). Though, I think it'd be worthwhile to try their high end courses right from their main location in Tokyo. I imagine their ingredient sourcing would be top-tier. Hope that helps and wishing you an excellent trip! ^ー^
