Just realized that adding boundary would reduce a lot of tripod redos. Especially if you place the tripod outside the boundary. In my eyes, NDZ is not good. 2 ft NHZ, Boundary and bigger ball are the way to go.
I fell like the 2ftt nhz especially in combination with the 7ft ndz limits the game in the wrong way. As you point out it just leads to al lot of righty booms and makes the game quite one dimensional. It also takes away the "skill expression" part of hitting. No flicks, no clean and low hits... I think that the bigger ball really seems to be the best improvement for the sport in general.
after watching some more i think it is actually a quite boring to just watch a bunch of righty booms the entire game
unsure on larger nhz but for sure not ndz
Holy callball
@@calvinsmith4190 😭😂
My opinion: 2ft nhz makes hitting kinda boring and too many failed hits Ndz kills blocking and tactical hitting completely Bigger ball is perfect!
i agree i don’t like ndz, i don’t think it does anything good
NDZ is just not it
Totally agree with your intro 👌
Good vid Kieran
I wasn’t paying too much attention to it because I was loving the tallies so much, but was there a single side pocket call on any serve? I assume it’s because the ball is bigger you are either hitting hit or it hits the spot you want to it but felt like most serves seemed pretty hard and fast calls.
@@DrewBanz yeah I didn’t feel like side pocket happened much at all, most bad serves were either bar or high, and the clean ones were pretty indisputable other than the few close rim calls we had
This is just immediately a better product than what the game was before
Almost everything we try will immediately be better than what the game was before cause the game we played before was/is awful
How is he gonna call NHZ not even looking at the feet
@@sam.weber17 it was an intense series, probably heat of the moment took over and we can’t say for certain he didn’t see something. Should’ve gotten an observer.
2:09 I'll put you top of my partner wishlist for boundary + no drop zone aka donut spike.
What’s your interest level in seeing a full point by point breakdown of strategy/my thoughts? Would be for a different series in the future.
High!
large
Highest I'd love to see it!

Now this looks like roundnet
Did u not put aces in because there were none? Or because they were looking bad, like only bad touch aces/ poor receive ?
I just read your comment about your only no touch ace … I would still like to get your opinion on serves during that day…. Btw I think it looks awful overall soo many of the defensive touches are like “ if u don’t defend this u r bad, type of rallies” cote was defending outside the service area a lot
@@met_roundnet I usually only include the no touch aces, Etienne and I had some aces off bad touches but I chose not to include those. I only had 1 no touch ace the entire day which wasn’t too surprising for me considering the serving approach that I had.
also was anyone else slipping like crazy 😒
Other highlight videos are 70-80% serves or 1-2-3 putaways. This one is 95% full blown rallies. 2ft nhz and big ball isn't broken - it just means that setting has to be much better. And as people practice more with it, it will look less janky. There are still plenty of 1-2-3 putaways, but there are very few double faults (Mitch and I had like 4 the entire day) and rallies last longer because sets are not as perfect starting with the first defensive touch. Still very entertaining to watch. In my opinion we have the solution (not necessarily this specific ruleset, but big ball and 2ft nhz I think are the crucial ones).
That looks so much fun but also so chaotic with so many rundowns and basically playing tennis with sides to to boom into
Bigger Ball would do the deed
2ft nhz is almost stupid.
Why 3 rules in one. Just try them one for one New ball would be enough imo
Fun rallies with you guys!
This looks like so much fun, need to try it out!
It was really good
If anyone curious 1:18 was my only no touch ace of the entire day
Do think it is because of the bigger ball or did you just have a bad day?
Get clipped @me
@wc_schuessle100% because of the bigger ball, I also think my serving style specifically is nerfed with a heavier ball because I don’t swing very hard, I mainly go for angle and spin which is ineffective. For reference I usually have at least 1-3 no touches per game serving with the pro ball and only had 1 the entire day with the rally ball.
Maybe it’s bc ur serving is dog
wait til u try the PS big ball
Hitting is dead, long live the rally ball 😂
What do you think of the rule changes in the video?
I did have a lot of fun w the new rules and equipment, but the rally ball could be a lot better. Some are better than others but for the most part we were playing with duds all day. Inconsistency mainly being the issue there. With the pip rally balls I basically was a non factor at serving bc players who hit the ball with power got worse touches than me who was going for spin and angle. As for the rules I actually love what 2ft NHZ and 7ft NDZ do for the game, but not having a boundary is a huge issue. If you have NDZ without a Boundary, it leads to only boom ball and chase down. Essentially Etienne and I were playing defense at 8-9 feet sometimes even further bc it was always going to be a boom or push towards the player closer. I think a simple boundary would fix this, but maybe that’d be too restrictive with a NDZ too. Overall not sold on that as the future, would’ve liked to try that format with a boundary.
@@kieranroseroundnetI agree here. There needs to be a boundary and the ball could be so much better.
Sick vid
3:48
So many legends at one pickup
2ft nhz isnt it
Every time I play with the big ball I don't feel like it makes a difference on the serve pressure and the 1-2-3 pressure. It feels exactly like with the other ball
Game definitely feels slowed down to me
Its unreal how many of these hits are NHZ
No call no foul
I noticed I was in the nhz a lot when I played with it. Probably need some time to get used to it
@@AdamPorter7 Oh yes, very much a muscle memory thing. I very much hope there are observers for CC since we wont see the real impact if people are living in the NHZ.
@@Conn205 we've got a massive budget line item to pay observers don't you worry.
The fifth person acted as an observer and called a lot of NHZ after the points were over, especially early on as we were getting used to it. We just decided to play points out for fun and more practice and let the calls be after.
2:43 Perfectly cut scream😂
the hitting in this vid is crazy
Let me know your thoughts on this one. Do you like highlight videos where the order is rallies -> holds -> aces?
for 1st place or finals appearance sequential order can be cool, but this style was probably more appealing to a general audience
yeah this was good
i do like idea of keeping ur last series at the end all together
0:39 crazy receive!
DAMMIT SUNNY WE ALMOST HAD IT. HE HAD TO ACE ME JUST THAT ONE TIME .
like if this is the first time you’ve seen Kieran throw a lefty reverse 😱😱😱 (looks sick)
Is it harder doing the toss horizontaly rather than doing it verticaly?
@@lolobustelo3973 I find it easier in the sense that I’m aiming for a wide angle and trying to toss/make contact faster than the receiver can react. It also leads to a hidden angle. So in summary yes probably more difficult to learn if you’ve only practiced a vertical toss, but horizontal toss has a higher ceiling if you can make it consistent.
Here’s a great video breakdown by Scott beeks: ua-cam.com/video/2XsXSMXQBR4/v-deo.htmlsi=5BhaSOgmWG9O7oyr
Big ball plz come faster, ty
Nice jams
“I like to play spikeball with the Solitaire mentality: make everyone watch as I play the game by myself”😂
You had no business BM-ing with the l-Rev tutorial😂😂😂
the double angle slomo is so sick. u think u could get more reverse spin if you finished more palm down and snapped/flexed wrist through it more?
His serves are already good enough 😭
I agree, flicking more and palm down is the way for most spin
community need slomo of body hand touch technique fr
saving to watch later a few hundred times ❤
this is nuts!!!
