Great track day at Cadwell Park organised by Track Obsession. Car is stock apart from a JP Cages half-cage, race seat/harnesses and Carbotech XP8 brakes all round. Fun with a Gardner Douglas T70 on a Javelin track day at Blyton Park in Lincolnshire with fellow Cobra and T70 drivers. 500bhp and 915kg on road tyres mean you have to manage the grip a lot - on slicks it would lap much quicker. It's fully road legal and with a twist of the dampers, it can be set up for comfortable road use. Apologies for the sound - very difficult to manage the wind noise at 1...

Manufacturer's 0-60mph claims are all well and good, but can a Gardner Douglas T70 with around 500bhp really do 0-60mph in under 2.8 seconds? And in the hands of a normal driver, not a race driver? On a normal road? With normal road tyres? Let's find out... At the time, the car weighed around 1,050kg with a driver and passenger on board. What a nice video! Did I see an alternator in the opening shot? The engine almost sounds like a diesel, did you swap it out? She is in excellent shape, born the same year as I was! My 1973 is a younin' compared to yours, purchased new here in the USA.

Grip is the limiting factor (was on road tyres on vid) so have some slicks for this season!
@@carfun5799 what times did u manage when u got some clear laps? Think I managed a few low 1:14’s but plenty left in the car and my driving with abit more set up
I agree with you, I've driven Blyton in a stripped out Clio 182 in anger so something like the GD T70 would certainly feel like it wanted to get off the leash

Yes it's a 200TDI engine minus the turbo
@@peterrosenthal3534 transformed my 109 which had a very tired original 61 petrol. 200 tdi and rover drive got me 35 mpg on a trip to Wales ( over1000 miles). Nice lanes!
In the description, what do you mean by "comfortable"? 😂
No genuinely if the dampers are wound back it's a comfy ride. As it's mid engined you sit between the wheels and it definitely makes the ride better. But there's no cupholders or stereo...

Trust you to take that away! I was impressed with the Clios - on sticky tyres they corner really well

Just buy any elderly K series - they come prefilled with it!
