Hand Crafted Mahogany Box | Box Building For Beginners
Переглядів 96421 годину тому
Follow me on this winding journey of building my own box. In this video I will show you how to (and not to) build your own box. I used miter cuts and rabbet joints. The wood of choice is mahogany and pine. Peace -Christian #woodworking #boxmaking #miterjoint #woodworkingprojects #woodwork #carpentry #wood

My basement was a disaster! I needed to organize my storage totes. I built this rack system with leftover wood from a tear down. Peace -Christian #woodwork #storageracking #lapjoint #diy #carpentry #woodworking #handbuilt
Sargent 414 Hand Plane | Will It Survive A Restoration?

I recently acquired this Sargent 414 hand plane. I am going to tear it down and do a light restoration. Working with hand tools turned out to be a wonderful woodworking adventure. Peace -Christian #handplane #restoration #rustytool #rusty #woodworking #woodwork

That's an idea
Lol, I should make a sign of that warning label and hang it in the shop hahaha
😂 I agree!
Nice box. It looks good! It's fun to watch a guy in his garage learning how to build stuff. 👍
@skippylippy547 Thank you! It's fun messing around in the garage!
Love Nerds! Very cool. What do you do for a living?
@@skippylippy547 I am in the mobile hydraulics industry. I work in a build/repair shop for hydraulic pumps and valves! Pretty fun!
How many times do I say "juice groove"? 😂😂
Gotta have that juice groove 😂
I've got the juice!
The juice is loose 😂😂
I feel seen.
I'm here for you.
Clearly...NOTHING is ever as easy as it looks....
@diverbob8 absolutely true!
Lmfao I got the same problem😂😂😂😂
I'm glad it isn't just me bahaha 😅
So true, brother. So true!
It's a problem 😅
Ah so this is why people make things that only take like 2 hours to make but charge $500 for
Exactly. Gotta pay for that 2024 GMC AT4 somehow!
@@christianmccoy-maker It's a shame because Ive seen quite a few woodworking youtubers do this. Yeah *maybe* they technically took 6 days to make it, but 90% of that was sleeping and not working on it :)
Hopefully, with experience my times will get better 😅
Man, you got the same kind of workbench I have.🤣👍
@@marcusmarrs haha I just googled "workbench" and copied one! 🤣
I was talking about you he folding table 😂
@@marcusmarrs ahhhh yes! The trusty folding table! Workbench, Thanksgiving table, present wrapping... it does it all!
Keep up the good work!
@@donovancampbell7785 thank you!
Evening. I found the video very entertaining, even though I watched it with German subtitles. Keep it up, I left a subscription. Greetings from Germany 🙂
Danke schoën!
This is how I see my first attempt going.. Well done.....
Thank you!
When I do my projects I talk to mysteries same way you do. Just silentently with no camera!!
I am my best company 😆 I am the only person that will listen to myself! Thanks for watching!
Funnily enough that's my plan too!! Subscribed.....
I knew I couldn't be the only one! 😁
I work with what I have and sometimes I don't know in advance what the result will be. But that's exactly what makes it the most fun
@@Jusczi exactly!
Honestly love this video so much! I'm just getting started (i.e. buying tools that I've never even used yet) and a lot of other videos make everything look so perfect and easy, but you're very relatable to me and what can go wrong and the guesswork. ❤
I'm so glad! I want to help people get started! It doesn't take a ton of equipment, and you don't need to know everything at the beginning!
learning by doing. A hint: for the same length, saw 2 boards at the same time. Geerings from Germany
@@Jusczi Danke schoën!
woodprix is full of awesome tips. Very helpful to me.
We don’t want point A to point B. We LOVE point A, a few stops here and there, some oopsie daisies, AND THEN point B. Makes the adventure that much more fun 😎
This dude is going to be a rockstar if he keeps up the great content. Looking forward to more wholesome content.
@@hire_a_geek he better remember us when he’s at the top 🤘😤
@@iGingerYT oh, I will make sure of it 👊
I got you!
“It was at this moment that he knew…he fucked up”
Royaly!
Holy shit i ducked. ive done something like that before shaving off 1/2” from a board. flew right in my eyes. Thank god for safety glasses
It is always a possibility, but it spooked me pretty good!
Maybe a push stick? How would one avoid this?
I should have been using some form of a push block. The board got hung up where the throat plate meets the table, it was out of adjustment. I shouldn't have taken my hand off of the piece when it got hung up, and turned the power off with my other hand. Lessons learned!
That's not mahogany and you got it at hobby lobby from the looks of it
@gamerguy247365 I'm glad it looks like a bought box haha but I made it! I have the video on my channel. The sides are mahogany, top and bottom is construction grade plywood
@@christianmccoy-makerso why not admit to the plywood in the description? It’s obvious to any woodworker.
@PaulDeanBumgarner I didn't think I needed to "admit" it... considering it's obvious to any woodworker. Also, in the full-length video, I go over how I used the plywood. No secrecy here! Thanks for watching!
Good old garage shop just trying to make content. Good stuff lol
@hire_a_geek just trying to make a box and almost get impaled! 😂
I think I have some problems 😅
You definitely have problems haha
You can tell the difference by the way it looks. Perfect 😂
😅😅😅
Must be one hell of a good guy to give you stuff to get started.
@@emersombigguns Yes, and very humble to! To be fair...
WOW, YOU ARE THE COOLEST PERSON I KNOW!
Thanks! I try my hardest!
What a great video and a great breakdown! Anyone can use this to build a better storage solution.
I'm trying to get it figured out! Haha
Film what you are passionate about. Looking forward to seeing more of your projects!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoy it!
Great video! Makes me want to start my own passion project. Keep it up!🎉
@hire_a_geek thanks for the kind words!
