      Do you have any experience working in construction yet? I'm not familiar with the Canadian construction market, but I would just start applying to all roles. If you don't have experience, you need to get experience - so an introductory role will start teaching you what you need to know about construction that will help in estimating. While working - you can always then just focus on estimating openings.

    Thank you for creating these presentations. I just discovered your channel and it's really helping me. I do have a question: for small residential projects, would you draw lines connecting lighting fixtures to their respective switches, or use a symbol at the fixture and identical symbol at location where you want the switch? Is there a reference you can direct me to that illustrates this?

    • @planandspec
      @planandspec 6 годин тому

      I think it's sometimes done this way on residential plans for simplicity. I've never worked off a residential set of plans, but I'm sure you could just google residential electrical drawings to find something close enough for reference. Hope this helps -

      There is technically no manual labor if you work in project management, the focus is on everything that runs the project such as lining up manpower. I still jump in and help where and when I can though to assist, so I wouldn't say it's zero.

    • @planandspec
      @planandspec Місяць тому

      Specifications are written to follow NEC and any specific local codes, the drawings are always drawn (intended) to meet code. There is typically a note in the drawings that states to follow local codes and regulations and applicable electrical codes, as a backup to the engineers drawings in case the electrical engineer incorrectly designed something.
