If I had to name the #1 stand up comedian, based on laugh concentration, RODNEY DANGERFIELD is the #1 G.O.A.T. No one was as clever, had as perfect comedic timing, delivery, dynamic presence or guarantee laughs per second of performance as Rodney Dangerfield...that IMO is why he is the number one greatest stand up comedian.

I seen this one the first night the movie hit the theaters before they deleted is .I dared my friend to try this me. We went straight to the local carnival which was about 2 miles down the road and found the bumper cars and all laid down just like the movie. 💪🏻

I read the original short story. So I thought I'd list some noticeable differences between the 2 for those interested! - Personality wise, the characters are similar but generally less likeable. LaVerne is meaner and less capable in the short story. She's quite rude to Rachel before she dies too. Rachel is the same. Deke is a tad bit douchier but not by much and Randy gets meaner as the stress builds. But, I probably would too if I were stuck with the shorts version of LaVerne in a life or death situation. Randy is also... noticably hornier - The story's 'spot' (I'm calling the monster that for simplicity here) is different from the segments. In the story, the spot can attract prey with swirling bright colours that put people in a trance, luring them into the water. - In the segment, Rachel just... decides to touch the spot. Out of curiosity. In the short she was, of course, hypnotized by the spot. Nobody but her could really see the colours so it's established the spot's intended prey is usually the only one to see the colours. - Rachel's goopy death is extremely similar aside from the fact she's melted into bone before she's dragged under. Which is probably what inspired LaVerne's segment death including her skeleton - The fact nobody will come find them is discussed more. It's mentioned in both that nobody knows they're here (though Randy only thinks it in the short) but in the short it's discussed that while there are cottages around, they're summer vacation homes and are all completely empty. Any caretakers wouldn't be around for weeks since there's nothing to steal, etc - In the short, the spot can hypnotize its prey, as mentioned. To combat this Randy makes a habit not to look at the spot for too long at a time and punches himself in the nose hard enough to bleed if he looks for too long. He almost goes over the side once when he looks too long at the colours - In the short, Deke's death is described MUCH slower and is more graphic. His foot doesn't actually get pulled through the broken boards, his foot gets pulled underneath while the spot's melting his body so it can suck him straight through the crack between the boards. Yikes. His death is described all the way from his foot being swallowed, he dies when it reaches his thigh (though it's mentioned he stopped screaming a few minutes before, making gurgling noises instead) and he slumps forward with his arms out. His rib cage cracks as it's sucked through and when his fingers go under, the muscles contract and it's described that Randy feels like it's a wave goodbye. His ring is gold instead of silver with 1981 inscribed on it (it was a commemorative sports ring from his team) but still doesn't get sucked through, like the segment - In the segment, it's a HUGE difference that Randy assaults LaVerne while she's asleep. Obviously, not having someone's consent to do sexual stuff while they sleep is a no no. During Deke's death in the short, she actually passes out and Randy wakes her up by biting her ear lobe HARD. A trick he learned from someone while learning med. During the night when LaVerne asks Randy to hold her for warmth, the 2 have consensual sex. The only hesitation comes from when Randy lies LaVerne down and she gets nervous he can't see the spot. But he can... unfortunately - LaVerne's death is different too. She isn't asleep and she obviously isn't being assaulted. Randy, while preparing to have sex with her, looks too long at the spot and gets hypnotized. He snaps out of it when he realises that LaVerne's hair is in the water. But it's too late, since it grabs her hair and climbs onto her face. Another big difference is that Randy actually kicks her overboard when it grabs her face. Her corpse never reappears - The spot is also described as more intelligent, as it changes strategies and begins relentlessly stalking Randy under the boards everytime he sits down, all while trying to hypnotize him - Randy survives in neither version. But his death is different. In the segment, he swims to the shore and is swept away by the spot. But in the short, he cries, sings to himself and eventually concludes he's not going to get any help out there in the middle of winter. His only option is 'self unalive' (youtube hates the real word) but he doesn't have a weapon to do it with. So he decides to stare at the colours, letting the spot hypnotize him and eat him. Hoping that the colours will keep him ignorant enough to stop the pain. His death is not described at all I personally really enjoyed the spot's colours idea. It makes most of the deaths less the fault of a character's ignorance. Like Rachel touching the spot or Randy laying LaVerne over a crack. It's also just kind of scary when you're being hunted by something you can barely even look at without dooming yourself

Seeing this comment section makes me happy it's not just me that was very much scared by this film growing up and it's still a film that sticks in my memories all these years later
